  1. Correction: the other complaints *were not* from this woman's family. Two are still open. The cop is being sued for man-handling another woman in a different case.
  2. The AA hiring and celebration of Noor's Somali heritage certainly advanced Mayor Betsy Hodge's agenda. And Mark Dayton's, who said that if we object to the influx of Somalis into Minnesota, we should "get the ---- out of the state." And the agenda of lesbian police chief Janeé Harteau. An innocent woman is dead because public safety was sacrificed at the liberal altar of political correctness. I live a mile from the crime scene, and even even the most ardent liberals (well, not all of them) are openly wondering what this guy was doing on the police force.
  3. I've been to Boyd's church as an employee many times. He is brilliant, but a rather proud iconoclast. He seems to revel in tearing down what he perceives are 'errors' in conservative Christianity, and finding fault with 'tradition'. He is dead-wrong on the business issue. What fellowship hath light with darkness? Beyond that, "Jesus served sinners" by dying for them, but he commanded us to to go and sin no more. There isn't a reason in the Christian world that a bakery should have to acknowledge the sin of a (non) same-sex marriage. But I'm not surprised he went there. He has been getting more and more provocative as the years pass. The substitute pastors are even worse, I think, by design. Woodland Hills is all but apostate. Consider John Piper's opinion on Boyd.
  4. We are in the midst of a series studying heaven. It is fascinating and uplifting.
  5. Anyone who purchases a gun from a dealer undergoes a NICS background check. In my state, I need to apply for a *permit to purchase*, yearly, before I buy *anything*. This process take about 2 weeks. When I want to purchase at a dealer, I have to fill out a ton of paperwork, and wait while the deal calls the FBI to verify the paperwork (the NICS check). Buying a gun, with a permit to purchase, takes about 45 minutes. This isn't akin to buying a bag of Doritos. The background check issue is not just a straw man. It is a lie. The gooberment has records of every purchase I've made for 20 years.
  6. Yeah, I get that. It's some sort of moral equivalency thing, which simply doesn't wash. As for those who laugh off Leviticus 19, what of cutting oneself, consulting mediums, selling daughters into prostitution, or practicing sorcery? Is this ok now, also? I mean we're not under the law and all...
  7. Meanwhile you list as your interests ... Interests:Music performance and production, mini bikes and scooters, guns and range shooting, vinyl records and other vintage media, classic film, thrift shopping, dogs, reading, That is a horrible cheap shot. *Especially* the omission of *Bible and church*. To the best of my ability, I try to process thought, word, and deed through the word of God, and Biblical precepts. I play music in church, and keep my presence in other professional musical activities, Christian. Are you claiming that my interests are in the same category as going down to a tattoo parlor and getting myself permanently scarred? Oh, but I get it: worldy. Perhaps I need to scrub my profile. I was not aware of that :Music performance and production, mini bikes and scooters, guns and range shooting, vinyl records and other vintage media, classic film, thrift shopping, dogs, reading, were controversial in this forum. Meanwhile, nuthin'.
  8. I do not agree.Providing that a tattoo is appropriate in nature and not evil it is ok.To think otherwise is legalistic. I'm asking how tattoos square with the verses I cited.
  9. How does the relatively recent phenomenon of Christians sporting and promoting tattoos square with these verses? Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. Romans 12:2 ESV Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Colossians 3:2 ESV Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Titus 2:12 ESV Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 2 Timothy 2:22 ESV So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 1 Peter 1:14 ESV As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 1 Peter 2:11 ESV Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 2 Peter 2:12-15 ESV But she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives. John 17:15-16 ESV For they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God. and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20New International Version (NIV) 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am borrowing the following from a post I read somewhere. I can't remember the source. "A tattoo requires a human being to be inflicted with physical pain, for reasons of vanity. We are instructed not to inflict physical pain upon one another, nor upon animals, nor upon ourselves. We are instructed to simply rejoice in our salvation in Jesus Christ and abstain from all activities which cause harm to us."
  10. I'd say trying to confiscate the firearms of 70 million-plus people might have a few logistical problems.
  11. Raunigk already had 13 children ranging in age from 9 to 44, from five fathers. She told Germany's Bild newspaper last month that she decided to become pregnant again because her 9-year-old daughter wanted a younger sibling. She also has seven grandchildren. Raunigk traveled abroad to have donated, fertilized eggs implanted - a procedure that is illegal in Germany. We need you, Lord.
  12. Thanks. Extremely inspired words from a *statesman*.
  13. Cruz is a contender. He is extremely bright, principled, and quick on his feet.
  14. The effort to downplay the seriousness of this guy molesting his sisters and another girl astonishes me. These women will likely suffer lifetime scars because of these incestuous intrusions. I cannot believe that this is so cavalierly dismissed. This isn't playing doctor. There was something profoundly wrong here, and the family chose to be mum and and continue to ride the reality gravy train. Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. I pity most those poor girls (women), who now have to be face to face with this garbage.
  15. I'm not going to get any up votes for posting this. But what has happened here has given the devil canon fodder through neglect. There are curious issues with this whole thing, including the Gothard tie, and the fact that the cop that gave Josh a stern "talking to" is now serving 56 years for possession of child pornography. If my facts are wrong, I *welcome* correction. But here's what a Breitbart poster offered, regarding Josh's rise to the FRC. Full disclosure: I had never heard of this family before today. But a reality show about a Christian family famous for only it's size? Somebody benefits, and of course it is the family. Here's the post: JDV • 6 hours ago 1 Titus 5-8: “This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach.” Why must those in positions of authority be above reproach? The condemnation in Romans 2:22-24 of the professed law keepers and people of God points to the reason: “You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, ‘The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.’” The “he was young” stance that some have offered when seeking to support those involved should stay in the realm of legal defense rather than be offered as an excuse. This is not a case of excluding people with a sinful past from ever having a place at the table to discuss societal matters. The first issue here is someone in a position of authority lobbying on behalf of a group advocating legislation supporting societal standards of faith and morals, as well as making stands on issues of sexual morality. Given that, the Christian roots and Judeo-Christian worldview of the organization as well as of the person in question and his family (who themselves bear the standard of a Christian household from a visible national platform), the issue shifts to exercising proper care, stewardship, and accountability. Were the person in a position of authority an alcoholic, which some have tried to parallel with this guy’s issue and actions, it would still be improper for such a person to cover up that fact, whether they were living in sobriety now or still engaging in alcohol abuse. The second issue is the cover up, because it should be the organization’s discretion whether to authorize one of the faces of their efforts regarding sexual morality to have a history with multiple molestations. The inconvenience of this reality should have been subordinate to the duties outlined in Scripture that appear to have gone unheeded by this guy as well as his parents. Given their public prominence and the incumbent responsibilities of faith (and the enhanced call for leadership to be above reproach), it should have been recognized that the issue transcended personal and private repentance into the realm of stewardship and leadership (on matters of public moral standards, no less) with its enhanced call to be above reproach. One would think that name recognition didn’t hurt this guy’s getting his position within this highly visible advocacy organization, so both he and his parents should have known that said recognition would work two ways, in this case to the detriment of the cause and the faith if the documented reality of what this guy had done became public. Consequently, whatever positive association they hoped to ascribe to a lifestyle with Christian values is now in jeopardy for many, especially as it empowers the "I told you so's" who seek to equate Christians with hypocrisy. The time is now for organizations in the public square advocating legislation based on Judeo-Christian values to prioritize the admonition from Titus 1 to the forefront. Offering the “we’re all sinners” reply when instances such as this one surfaces serves no one, and is unacceptable given the consequences (Romans 2). Sure, accountability is harder than the de facto mode of man, as many can’t be bothered with employing an ounce of prevention in the first place, let alone stepping on toes and egos in order to uphold standards. But if you appear no different from the world whose fallen state you bemoan (or worse, appear hypocritical), how will you do anything but harm the declared cause? It’s one thing to advocate on behalf of an organization for moral standards to which you aspire while admitting and disclosing that you haven’t always met them perfectly. It’s quite another to do that from a position of leadership yet have been involved with activity that every corner of society denounces (especially something that involved violating the rights of others) but choose not to disclose that and thus prevent your organization or anyone else from properly determining your fitness for the position.
