  1. Hi Mabel Good to hear you are not letting circumstances get you down sis. Bless you. Hi Marilyn In my NASB, it says, "Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones". You have inserted (angels). Is that in another version, ie KJV? I thought we, as the saints, come back with Jesus to execute judgement. Can you clarify this please? Thanks sis.
  2. Mabel come back! We miss you sister.
  3. Hi Marilyn Thank you. There is absolutely no doubt that I am not the same person I was before salvation. I give God all the glory for changing me - line upon line, precept upon precept, from glory to glory. My quote, the prophecy from my first pastor, who taught me so, so much, should have said "Thou art a strong horse...", not Thou are.... a typo. I remember it as if it was yesterday. It's ongoing, praise the Lord... we were admonished last Sunday by the Lord through that older couple we had never seen before and who did not know us. We both repented of what they pointed out and told the Lord that we welcome His chastisement and thanked Him for His great love
  4. Hi sisters Yes, John the Beloved. How I love reading his letters. Especially the first few verses of The Gospel of John, but these three letters are nothing short of wonderful!! Marilyn, I have often thought that the reason Jesus told Peter when they were walking on the beach not to worry about others, but just to "follow Me". John was being saved for the Isle of Patmos, and Revelation.
  5. Hi Marilyn Aaah, Peter, Peter. I often think how like me he was. Intense, rough around the edges, God worked wonderful things in Peter's life to change him into the wonderful believing disciple and preacher he turned out to be. So often, a rough diamond is tamed through the loving hand of the Master designer if we are prepared to let Him mold and shape us into His chosen vessel. A personal prophecy to me as a very young believer...... "Thou are a strong horse, and thou must be tamed.".
  6. Hi Mabel You know that Marilyn mentors people where she lives and people here as well through the PM system. I am sure she has helped you and will continue to do so, and I believe you can take her mentoring, some (other) of what you read and interact with here on Worthy that lines up with the Word of God, and your bi-weekly meetings to add up to a fairly good church experience in your life. I think the most important thing right now is to listen to the preaching of the Word through the right teachers and maintain a daily time with God and in His Word and He will lead you through. We also watch preachers like Michael Youssef and David Jeremiah and Charles Stanley on TV.
  7. The only true believer of the word is the doer of the word. For every inward grace will bear outward evidences Hi Marilyn. I really love what you have said here, particularly this part above. Every inward grace..... will bear outward evidences. Beautifully put. Thank you.
  8. Hi sisters Hubby and I continue to be gobsmacked that so many people are determined to believe all sorts of lies from the enemy when it is so much easier to believe in the Bible. We sat under the teaching of a little old man today (89) who told us to keep reading our Bibles, and not to compromise, and not to believe what the world may say, etc. He was a lovely little old preacher and when he had sat down, his wife got up and preached some more! It was wonderful to hear fundamental truths preached again in a different, tiny church that we snuck off to today. It confirmed that there is another assembly nearby (among others) where the truth of God is still being preached by wonderful Christians. Happy Mothers' Day to you both!
  9. Hi Marilyn Isn't it strange - and to my shame - when I remember the amount of times I have read Philemon and never even thought of the illustration it was of Jesus' forgiveness toward us. Or I may have seen it and just forgotten over time, but I think I only ever meditated on the part Paul played in pleading for Onesimus before returning him to his master. Thanks for showing me the bigger picture.
  10. Hello bamboshief Do you have a Bible with you? Have you tried to talk to the Lord? Yes, God is our all sufficiency. Ask Him to set you free from your anxiety and depression. When Jesus died on the cross, He took all your sin. Ask His forgiveness for your unbelief. We all must come to a place where we believe the Lord and all that He has done for us. It's not about what we do; it's about what He has done! Thank Him, bamboshief, for His victory on the cross that won the victory for you. Understand there is nothing you can do - accept that He has done it all for you! He has paid the price of redemption for you. Claim that victory, dear one. Tell God you want to hear from Him; read His Word, believe what it says. I will be praying for you too. If you are online, you may be able to find a church in your area with people who are willing to come and help you. Ask them for help. True Christians are willing to help you. God bless you and keep you. And, by the way, when you accept God's ways, you will come into the most wonderful life with a Father Who created and loves you, a Saviour Who went to the cross to reconcile you to His Father, and a Holy Spirit Who will comfort you and lead you into truth - if you seek Him with all your heart and follow Him completely.
  11. Hello jestersnow I know you love your cats - I am a cat lover too. You have been through very hard times but the harsh reality is that people must come before animals. You are very, very important to the Lord. I am praying for you for God's answer to your situation - and you must ask Him too. Cry out to Him and ask Him to show you the way. A lot of people in the last few years have been forced by their circumstances to surrender their animals to a local shelter - and you don't know for sure they will be put to sleep. There are a lot of people like myself who would rather adopt a pet from somewhere like that than go and buy one. In fact, it's becoming the norm. Begin to praise the Lord for the answer before you receive it. That is faith. Pray by saying: I come to You in faith, dear Lord, and ask for your help. Please show me the way. I thank You and praise You right now for the answer and thank You that other people are supporting me in prayer. In Jesus' name, amen. Our hearts go out to you, sister.
  12. Yes, a similar situation to that which we see of Paul and Timothy. And how wonderful that Paul said to Titus "Let no one despise you.". Sometimes older Christians may be tempted to look down on younger ones who show signs of becoming very good leaders and teachers and overlook them. There is no doubt that Paul had a wonderful understanding on how to direct people to serve the Lord rightly.
  13. I love my sisters in the Lord. God bless you both.
  14. Hi Mabel Yes, Paul was "discipling" Timothy; helping him to grow into a man of God, as God would have required him to go on and fight the good fight after Paul had gone. He recognised that Timothy was someone he could trust with Godly wisdom; that Timothy would be a man God would use for great things - planting and leading churches with true doctrine, so invested his knowledge and wisdom into him. I agree - they did have a very close bond. How wonderful, as well, that way back when David and Jonathan were together they had such a wonderful friendship. Jonathan helped David to flee because he could see that his father had an irrational hatred and jealousy toward David. The Bible doesn't tell us what happened to a lot of people because some of it was written while they were still alive - but there are documents that were written that do record what happened to a lot of people. I think you are right about understanding straight away when the Lord convicts us that we get a check in our spirit - because we walk closely with Him and hear his admonishment to us, and apply that conviction in order to avoid going down the wrong path. We listen to the Spirit of God when He speaks to us and don't allow the brain to rationalise things away like the world does. You are right. Marilyn, what do you think sis?
  15. Hi mat007 Whenever anxiety tries to attack me, I try to say "I am refusing to accept these thoughts" and try to train my mind to think about Jesus instead. It takes a lot of effort, but practicing this helps. Also keep praising Jesus as much as you can. Give Him the glory every time you can. Try to train your mind to think about Jesus. Learn scripture, meditate on it. The Lord will help you. Ask the Lord to help you to trust Him completely. The more you actively immerse yourself in His Word, and pray to Him, the closer you will be to overcoming this problem.
  16. Hi Marilyn How wonderful for Paul to have had someone like Timothy on board! What a support he proved to be. No wonder Paul calls him "my true son in the faith". The advice Paul gave Timothy as a young man would have been wonderful, as a father lovingly instructs his son in wisdom.
  17. I am praying for you and your situation as well WW. Have you ever seen a movie (I think it is called) "The War Room"? It may help to watch it.
  18. Hi Jayne My husband is a Gideon and I have heard wonderful testimonies like these too.
  19. Welcome Eslyn. We have a saying - "While there is life there is hope." Someone may refuse the Lord until the last moment, then understand and believe - and are then prepared to receive Him as Saviour and Lord.
  20. Hi Marilyn Isn't it wonderful that Paul comforted the Thessalonians, and in turn we are also comforted, as these things are for all believers. We also need to be open to correction - reproof and rebuke - it shows humility and the understanding that the Lord chasteneth those whom He loves. Secondly it is so exciting to read these things and look up, for our redemption draweth nigh!
  21. Yes, Marilyn, my analogy is that they are "feeding on artificial grass" - it has no truth or nutrition whatsoever. Jesus is our treasure in heaven and no amount of earthly things can measure up to Him...... in fact shouldn't even be included in the same sentence.
  22. WOW! Things are movin' along really fast now....... I have heard of other things like this - in the USA I think .... it's awful.
  23. I have watched the Tomorrow's World and Beyond Today (or tomorrow) people on tv quite a few times and in the early days they used to say something along the lines of "we should all be keeping the feast days taught in the OT." (Don't quote me. I think that was it but may be wrong.) They also seem to go with the Saturday Sabbath like the SDAs.
  24. Hi brakelite A large percentage of the population of Australia is turning away from the knowledge of God and prayer, and most of our leadership doesn't seem very interested in praying for anything; in fact, sadly, they are trying to outlaw prayer every which way they can. I don't like to be negative, but I have to be realistic. However, where there is life there is hope, and we will continue to pray.
