Hi, Apples and oranges Ray. I have locks and defense from mostly USA born thieves that come in all colors. What I am seeing not working well is trying to take personnel trained to kill on command and using them as policing agents. Historically rounding up people by race creed nationality or color in the USA has not only not worked well it has caused us great shame. One example; Japanese internment camps during WW II For Republicans to be championing this is really akin to the Democrats ( Biden) deciding to hire 80,000 armed IRS agents. Stuff like that just isn't going to end well.

I don't feel God is transforming me inside out...
Neighbor replied to Figure of eighty's topic in General Discussion
Hi,Having read several of your posts over time and in reading this one I see also many helping and encouraging responses Might I add for your consideration? Sit down in comfort and read, read the Book of Job, read it as you might read a novel, seeing the characters, feeling their surrounds. Get into the story just as you might an interesting tale. Then note the strong angry dissertation by Job in chapter three. Job too railed in anger even as he had stood his ground giving thanks to God. He had a hard battle to wage yet God saw Him through it. God will see you through too. God is faithful! Hang on, hang on to the hope certain that is our Lord and savior Jesus. -
What's Your Favorite Bible Commentary?
Neighbor replied to Katie Rose Müller's topic in General Discussion
Hi again, I tend to use online Bible Gateway for versions of the word in English and then use Biblehub for commentaries. It has been expanding it's format so I need to work on using it more effectively including for comparing Bible versions. BUT being a geezer I still like the feel of a hardcopy print on paper book format best of all. Lately I have been exploring more deeply a timeline Bible "The Life And Times Historical Reference Bible" published by Thomas Nelson Publishers. I am finding it quite helpful and enlightening. Hadn't really delved into it much until more recent times of my own timeline; LOL. Used to find it hurt my brain seeing events in tandem and also in sequence. Now it provides me some "Ahha!" moments. I guess as I think about it my "go to" is The Spurgeon Archives and his four point talks giving the word verse by verse and exposition with practical application of the word. -

Ha that's a hot one! The pot calling the kettle black. "Oh by the way Boston has become a hotbed of sex offenders." No, no, it hasn't, it always was! And Boston was always a hotbed of resistance to armies trying to round up and confine or eliminate it's people too. No way are the people there going to tolerate US military entering their homes to round up "undesirables". Fact I do not believe military personnel will obey any order to do so. Doubt that many will even give such an order. BTW There are over 80,000 non citizens serving in the US armed forces. I suspect that some if not many a soldier has a spouse that is not a legal resident of the USA. Deploying military to round up people and send them to camps as a final solution just is going to tear this country apart. Maranatha!

We Studied the Tree of Life in the Bible (Here’s What We Found)

Disagree? No , I am simply curious. For in English transliterations anyway there is appears to be much room for variant understandings. How much room for variant understandings exist for the rest of the premise(s) shared within the under five minute video I haven't even begun to research for my own use. BUT I do so enjoy little snippets being built into a theme of sorts, as that does lead me to reading the word of God and looking at what scholars have concluded if anything. Scholars being those well educated Christians that do have capacity to read the word in the original languages doing so with Holy Spirit inspired/led understanding. -
Hi, Seems to me testimonies are always on topic! Topics only provide a plate on which to serve up testimony by witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus. If it were not so we might as well all be on facebook.

Not to me He hasn't! But hey "What me worry?" Nah, for "Soon and very soon we are going to see the King".... Cat.pdf

Hi all, Personally I am glad and appreciative of all that have preached till they were blue in the face, preaching of the Gospel of Jesus to me. Though I agree that no one saves another, that it is by God alone that any are saved from His just destruction, I also share that the testimony of oh so many has indeed been well used, and is also still remembered as a giant OH! It was so when the Holy Spirit turned me about to my own repentance in the moment of "specific calling" out to me personally.

As I understand it denial of the Holy Spirit is unpardonable. Reference Matthew 12 ...“Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come."....

"God gives people freewill, and he respects their freewill. If they don't want to hear, He doesn't push." Hi Kwik, I am simply stating that God did indeed interfere with my own will. I praise God for that! So I am stressing do not hive up in disappointment, instead count prayers (Rightly motivated) as answered. That does not mean one does not move along, not at all. Instead it means God has it covered, one can be confident in that.

We Studied the Tree of Life in the Bible (Here’s What We Found)

Hi, I had to read that aloud slooowly to myself, but yes that is the way I see it. What I do not see within the Bible ( So far) is the statement that either Adam or Eve first man and wo-man ever ate of the tree of life prior to the fall of Adam before his eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. I see those two trees as literally being real tres that bore real fruit, the consumption of which would bring life eternal, which they each already had, or death which neither knew a thing about for there was no death on earth. The best I have found so far regarding the actual eating of the fruit of life eternal are statements regarding that being a "presumption",- one not stated as fact in the Bible. It has always interested me. especially as I think that if the fruit of the tree of life gave life eternal then how could the tree of knowledge of good and evil bring death? Seems to me the concern of God was because it couldn't, not if the fruit of eternal life had been consumed. Fun stuff! -
As one used to post on another board "You can't steal my joy." And as my own former work group used to say; no good deed goes unpunished.
-
I respectfully disagree. God did NOT give me freewill to deny His will, he drafted me. He did not respect my vain arguments against him, fact He got downright demanding of me.
-
Hi all, Adding hopefully an encouraging note: When the Holy Spirit challenged me and turned me about from my rejection of evenGod's existence to instead acknowledging and worshipping Jesus as my Lord God and savior I also heard in my mind's memory bank the many that had talked to me challenging me over the many years. While I was specifically turned about by the Holy Spirit, God had heard the prayers of all that had prayed that one day I would hear and heed the specific call to my own repentance by God. God is faithful to answer prayers. Those prayers rightly asked of Him for others especially. Do not become discouraged,God is at work!

Sincere repentance - a true Christian
Neighbor posted a topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Question: Why is it considered necessary to add modifiers like "sincere" and "true" to words like repentance and Christian? Seems to me that weakens the word(s) being modified, introducing the potential for doubt in the reader as to whether they have repented or are Christian. Can one have repentance that fails? Or be lesser than Christian? -
Governor of Free Florida Ron DeSantis knows what he is dealing with. He will not be surprised when the President elect turns and tries biting him. Nonetheless he, DeSantis, will work well with the President elect once he is in office. DeSantis is in good political shape because Free Florida is presently in good shape fiscally, and is in tune with the move to conservative values, far more so than is the President elect who is more pragmatic, especially on hot button issues of this time like abortion. The President elect punted the ball on abortion saying "let the States decide", while under Gov. DeSantis Free Florida has enacted the most severe limitation on abortions possible this side of an absolute ban; no abortion after 6 weeks of a pregnancy. p.s. Right now our AG, under DeSantis, is suing FEMA for withholding aid to Republicans that supported Trump!

We Studied the Tree of Life in the Bible (Here’s What We Found)

Well it is a challenge, a challenge (for me) to learn, a challenge to review what I think I know. I do love the challenge(s) for it/they get me to digging into my Bible(s) and commentaries. As I link all the references to THE tree of Life and A tree of life that are in the Bible, once again I don't see but presumption that man, the man, ever actually ate of THE tree of life. I am looking again at what others have said, including thoughts in sermons by Rev. Spurgeon, John Piper, John MacArthur, Zola Levitt, and still looking for more. A question that has always been in my mind is: If God prevented the eating from The tree of life once the man and wo-man were in a fallen state because they would be like them, and live forever as they do. Then why didn't the man already become like them before his fall and live forever? So I an enjoying looking at it once again! -
Oh given time you will learn what an awesome return you get from that "steaL"! p.s. Learn everything you can about what options you have and how your SS retirement benefit payments will increase or decrease depending upon those decisions. Don't overlook doing that. It matters greatly what you decide; and think- what if I live to be 90, how will my decisions affect me then? Plan ahead or suffer later!

Oh the change in climate is real enough and plainly evident. Much of the activity of mankind has indeed changed local and world wide climate conditions. The climate most get to see is above the seas, with the destruction of conditions necessary for life on the ground, and that which is airborne, yet man is changing the climate for all that lives under the seas and all bodies of water large and small too. It is becoming less and less humous as time passes while man descends further and further into disdain for what God has given him to tend.

One is not to take revenge, but one can be and many times is, the instrument of God used to avenge in his name. God will hold to account, by the same standard one uses against another, when revenge is taken out of one's own motivation and doing.
