  1. Yes, and no. Yes, those who are in the grace of God are there eternally and irrevocably. No, not everyone who claims to be a Christian are in that grace. "For many are called, but few are chosen" Matthew 22:14
  2. I haven't read the apocrypha at any length. I do know that Jesus did refer to Enoch in his teachings as did Paul.
  3. I happened on this Blog and wanted to get more experienced Christians opinions. Jesus Without Baggage Does the blogger have a point? Is this actually scripturally correct? If so why? If not why not? I look forward to our sharing together. Let's remember our calling and keep this something that Jesus would be proud of.
  4. I think the part where it states, give us this day our daily bread, is referring to that which we need to sustain ourselves this day. And that could include, money to pay the bills, put food on the table, a great health report.
  5. "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20
  6. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18:16-17
  7. How do you define sin for yourself as a believer?
  8. Don't the Alligators and snakes become very upset when their domain is shrinking? Comey wasn't fit to remain director and Donald Trump knew this. Now it is more of the same carping against Trump because he's a Republican and he's Donald Trump. With the performance James Comey gave during the inquiry into Hillary last year I would hope not even he is surprised he's out. He was clearly following orders, doing that very poorly and looking foolish in the process, and in that regard gave the impression that the FBI couldn't be trusted when the head was so clearly a liar about legal discrepancies and abuses by one Hillary Rodham Clinton.
  9. That's a Calvinist instruction isn't it? The Total Depravity part of his five points outlined and defined in the acronym of TULIP?
  10. Some may not think so.
  11. The Theological Keys look to be very helpful. Thank you for posting this BacKaran. And Daughter, thank you also for the book suggestions. I'm going to look at my library first to see if they're there.
  12. No. However it is possible to live as someone who in Christ has released the former life identity of, "sinner".
  13. Well that's the way to a chat kill isn't it? Let's move beyond that and see if we can be civil and keep this discussion interesting shall we? That is a great long article and I've taken my time since joining to read the link at the source. How about we begin here with this observation from the materials here? Jesus did not speak his own doctrine. See below where that is said. Let's see how Jesus used the term doctrine. The Messiah condemned the doctrine of the Pharisees because it was of human origin. "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"(NKJ throughout) and in Mark 7:7-9. there is more added to this... "And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' "For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men-- the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do." And He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition." We see by these scriptures that Jesus, 1) revealed that we can worship Him in vain if we are putting forth doctrines of men as if they are the commandments of God. 2) The doctrines of men had to do with the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things they did like all the many ceremonies and clothing they wore. The earliest true doctrine of the Christian church declared that Jesus was the Messiah sent from the Holy Father to deliver a message of the kingdom of God. That the Messiah is the eternal sacrifice sent from the Holy Father and He raised the Messiah from the dead so we could become children of God in the kingdom of God and that salvation could only be given by believing the first two facts above and the believer MUST have faith in the Messiah's Authority, Word, and Sacrifice. Along with these foundational Doctrines there is also the command by Jesus to baptize by His Authority and the believer would receive power from the Holy Spirit. The believer also has to accept that Jesus established a NEW Covenant and that the New Covenant is founded on the foundational doctrines along with the Ten Commandments. These truths were presented as a clear fulfillment of the promises of the Old Testament as we find that hundreds of years before Jesus was born God informed Moses that He would send a Prophet like him from among their brethren. God stated that He would even give This Prophet the very words He would speak. Just who was this future prophet, and has this prophesy been fulfilled? Let's "read carefully" what God had to say about this Prophet and what this future prophet would do. 'I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 'And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. Deut 18:18-19. Jesus did not come speaking his own doctrine: Yes brethren Jesus faithfully delivered the message our Holy Father gave Him and He never added to nor took away anything from that message. Jesus, a common man of His time was in the temple teaching the written word of God during the feast. The statement…"How does this Man know letters, having never studied?" shows that the Jews knew Jesus had not been taught by their educational institutions and were marveling at how He knew so much about the written word of God which at that time was the Old Testament. Did they truly get the meaning of the situation when He stated that what He spoke was not from Him but from the One that sent Him? Did they make the connection in Deut. 18:18?
  14. “Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).
  15. I watched the trailer for this on television. It's concerning the six day war in Israel. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/background-and-overview-six-day-war
  16. That last frame speaks volumes. Great metaphor post.
  17. I think if I follow God's wisdom in such things I have to side with law abiding. Prayers and empathy to those who feel the need to flee their countries. Wisdom for our country's law enforcement to decide who is allowed the privilege of entry. Illegal entry violates the privilege and the right. In a Godly fashion should that be condoned? Was God fond of his people breaking his laws? God like. Christ like.
  18. I agree with your take on this. Just because someone is in a position of authority doesn't mean they naturally deserve respect because of that position. There are people in authority or who strive for that role, that are tyrants once they arrive there. In that case I think it wise to promote the truism that respect is earned. Because not everyone is deserved of respect. I've known people who will say in church that we are all children of God and are created in his image. And as such we should respect one another. And then those same people who said that on Sunday will speak the most reprehensible things about people they are in conflict with. Or that they don't respect. That's part of that other old truism , proof is in the pudding. It is so easy to speak as if we have angels working our mouth. But when the devil shows up the angels we realize were never really there. It was all illusion someone wanted to paint to make themselves look like they were the good. When they were not so. Thinking that deserves respect insults what it means to respect someone who deserves it. Just like love. I don't love everybody. I don't love the doctor that harmed my dad in the hospital. I don't love the nurse that abused him there. I don't respect them. If I respected them, I'd be respecting that which is in them that let them harm a man who was mentally incapacitated due to liver disease. I think the sad thing among our community is very often we say what we think we're suppose to sound like as Christians. When it comes to being real and something else shows itself maybe we then will see that the only one we're fooling putting on airs, masks that aren't genuine, is ourselves. Because God see's through it all. We're Christian. That doesn't mean we're perfect. It just means we're forgiven and we're following that precious holy voice that asks us to be better as we learn to do that from a genuine place in the heart of hearts.
