  1. I don't think my Lord can lie. Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 15:7 IF ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,, Here are some reasons someones prayer may not be answered. "You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? ... James 4:2-5 Those James was speaking of reminded me of those in Isaiah 58 who fasted for the wrong reasons. As fasting and prayer go hand in hand I thought this would shed some light on the subject. 1
  2. apparently you have received the scriptures given to you here :-) I am glad to know you received His forgiveness and realize you cannot loose the Lord's love. His promises too His children are mighty powerful...He loves us with an everlasting love. The devil would try to make us feel condemmed, but the Lord says there is no condemnation to the Child of God. If we go to Him and confess our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us. blessings
  3. Thank you all so very much for your prayers and suggestions. I will most definately, and prayerfully try hard to talk with and listen more. And thank you for the insight that this person is scared. I really needed to hear that. Helps me better understand some things. Blessings to you all!!!
  4. What do you say to someone that has been in prison and they have a hope for the best but plan for the worst mentality? Yet when they speak you can only hear "the worst will probably happen." What if they don't want to hear a faith talk? And what if they get mad because they want your opinion but only if it agrees with them? Anyone been there? I have someone I would like all of you to pray for. I KNOW the Lord has His hand on this person's life. Bathe them in prayer please!
  5. I sat in classroom once and was asked by one of the students if I believed a practicing prostitute would be allowed to become a member of my church and remain in her "profession". I turned to the young man and clearly said no. In order to become a member one must profess salvation. Well to say the least this young man shot me daggers each time he saw me, but I remained firm in my belief that sin is not something to be tolerated by the church but set free from. Yes, I do believe the prostitute he spoke of should be allowed to come to church and be shown all the love we can shower on anyone! Our God loves everyone and He is ready to save all who call upon His name. I said that to reply about this doctor just killed in church. This man was not just coming to church services. He was a KNOWN trimester abortionist who was allowed to be an usher in the house of God. Anyone in any kind of position in the church needs to be saved! No one can convince me that people who knowingly practice sin openly and justify their actions is saved, sanctified and to put it as the Lord does in His word, born again. We are not helping anyone by condoning their behaviour. If we tolerate such brazen sin in the church, how are we helping that person be set free? I was astonished that this doctor was not just shot in the church...that is something that has happened before, no, I was astonished that he was an Usher.
  6. LOL I can hardly believe what I am reading here. Let me tell you all a little story. In the mid 1990's I took a trip to Russia. The interpreters we had were a group of college students. We all met together for prayer in our hotel lobby one morning. Standing in a circle holding hands we began to pray. I began to softly pray in tongues. When we were finished praying one of the young college men smiled at me and said, "Susie, I am Charasmatic! Are you, too?! I smiled, "No, I am penticostal." Then as he was so thrilled that we both spoke the same spiritual language, and as he held my hand tightly I said, shrugging my shoulders, " Penticostal, Charasmatic, eh, they are the same thing." And we both agreed. These terms simply identify the person has had an experience with the Lord like they had on the day of penticost when the 120 in the upper room were all filled with the Spirit. question: if you came out of the church speaking German would people think you were drunk? perhaps when the 120 came out of the upper room speaking in tongues, the public heard them speaking in their own language because as they prophesied in tongues they also interpreted what they said into other languages, and they were rejoicing with great joy as they did it!! taken from the bok of Acts chapter 2
  7. According to Websters, intercession is the act of praying in favor of another. I believe intercession can be directly linked to the gifts of the Spirit through the fruit of the Spirit called...love. The Lord commanded us to pray, or interceed, for others: John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. John 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
  8. Makes me wanna say somethin like, O child, don't ya know the Lord has saved the best for last for His children?! He gave us His Spirit and told us ta go to tha nations and heal the sick, set the captives free, cast out those demons and the like. Where ya been?! The Lord is still healing, still saving and still delivering people from the devil's devices! If ye truly want to see Him manifest a miracle just make yerself available to Him and ask Him to use you to reach a lost and dying world that needs to know Jesus. That burning bush was nothing compared to what the Lord is doing now!! "And He said to them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe: in MY name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after Jesus had spoken unto them he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following." Mark 16:15-20
  9. Adultry is a sin...no middle ground. If you want to be free from all you are going through you need to go to the Lord and confess it to Him and ask Him to forgive you. He is faithful and just to forgive us. Stop looking for justification, I say this in love, and look to the Lord for healing in your life. Also, look to your husband. Not many men would welcome you home after being with another man. The Bible tells us that we win our unbelieving spouses over by our example of loving and fearing the Lord. Perhaps you might start there in helping him come to Christ and go to church with you.
  10. Better take a look at our film industry too! I just saw a commercial for a Christmas animation for kids. The scene went like this. A Santa was talking to a reindeer. The reindeer greeted Santa as one of Santa's helpers. The Santa then replied, "I am not one of Santa's helpers! I'm a lesbian!" To which the reindeer replies, "Oh, my aunt Roberta was one of those." The name of the film is HOLIDAZ Something to keep the kids away from. Pass it on.
  11. Marriage is a covenant relationship, not to be entered into lightly. Liken it as a rope...it has three cords...man, woman and God. If the two outer cords begin to fray and have some difficulty, the inner cord is in place to keep it all together until is is fixed. If the third, and inner cord, God, isn't there, those outer cords have nothing to hold it together. The Bible says a three cord rope is not easily broken.
  12. Ditto to everyones replies, plus...I have learned to encourage myself in the Lord by reminding myself of what He has done for me before and know He will do it again. Not too long ago He taught me the importance of standing on His promises...firmly taking hold of His word. I read it with the assurance that He is speaking to me as I read. What a comfort to know the our Father is there with counsel for us.
  13. Don't be discouraged...I have heard many people wonder about this subject over the years. The Lord, from the beginning, made provision for our redemption through Jesus. His invitation extends to all who will believe, come. Those who don't believe can't enter in because of unbelief. Predestination means the Lord predetermined or planned that He is not willing for any to perish, but that all will come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. However, He also planned that those who don't believe, those who would rather stay in sin that be set free, could not come into the kingdom...however, He is long suffering and patient and longs for those hard hearts to become tender in His care. Lets say you decide to take your family to the beach on Saturday. You decide that only those who have cleaned their room can go. You tell them on monday. You even post a note on the fridge to remind them. Saturday rolls around and only 4 have cleaned their room. Your decision was made ahead of time and you gave them ample time to do as you asked. However,You couldn't stand the thought of leaving any of them home. It was going to be a fun family day. So you went and helped them clean their rooms and bid them all come on, lets go to the beach...but still they didn't all want to go. You were disapointed. You wanted them all there but you didn't want to make them go. So those who decided they didn't want to go had the choice to stay while the rest could go. I know this isn't the greatest analogy, but hopefully you get what I am getting at. Predestination, free will, freedom to choose...the Lord wants everyone to come to the throne of grace, but not everyone wants to give Him rule over their lives even though that rule is actually freedom to live as a kings kid. The Lord simply predetermined that anyone who wants to be free has only to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, confess they are in a sinner in need of a Saviour, and ask Him to be Lord of their lives. I think the hard part for many people is that they don't believe they are such bad sinners. I was one of those who used to look at the ten commandments on my wall and tell myself I wasn't so bad because I had not committed all the sins there. That was before I came to the knowledge of His amazing grace. Many of us try to live "good" lives and find it is hard, not realizing the Lord does not expect us to do good all on our own. That is legalism. He simple wants us to ask Jesus in and then let Him have reign in our hearts, He will teach us and give us the ability to live free from sin, not in our own power, but His. We can't put off the old man until we are first made new. Born again...something the Lord predetermined for all who give Him their hearts. He says come just as you are...then give Me the full reign over your life and see what a change will take place. (My paraphrase) Anyway, I hope this helps you grasp predestination. It is not something to look at as doom and gloom, but as hope. The Lord is so very patient with us...not willing that any should perish, but all would come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Anyone that has not made Jesus Lord, just ask Him in. ................................................................................ ........................................................ For those who don't know what put off the old man means: Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:5-7 (in Context) Romans 6 (Whole Chapter) 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:16-18 (in Context) 2 Corinthians 5 (Whole Chapter) Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Ephesians 4:21-23 (in Context) Ephesians 4 (Whole Chapter) Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man.
  14. Well I must say I didn't expect all these responses. However, since so people have so many different opinions of what mosdest is I recon Webster's has a pretty good handle on it. Main Entry: mod
  15. 1Tim 2:8 8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; 9likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness
  16. O.K guys and gals, I have not posted here for a while, but since I am an older woman in the church I will tell you what I know about this subject. You may not agree with me and some may even want to debate it but I will not apologize for what I believe is right in the sight of God. First, let me ask you some questions. What would you wear if He invited you to dinner? If you were invited to a white tie affair would you not dress properly? Then why question what one should wear as a Christian? Should not the Lord get the very best we have!? If we were invited to the white house would we not want to wear our best? Should seasoned Christians not lead the way in proper dress for the younger to follow? Would you not put your arms around your child who was wearing shorts so tight that her cheeks were showing and tell her you love her but that type dress is too"sexy" and not proper for a girl to wear? Or her skin tight jeans were drawing too much attention to her figure rather that her the light that leads others out of darkness? There has been so much debate in the church in these last days over topics such as dress jewelry, hair, drinking, smoking, dancing...looking at this list one can only conclude the debate is one of the flesh wanting to rule. So I would first ask, are you sincerely seeking the Lord and have you asked Him to mold you into His image? Are you sitting at the place in Christ where you are submitted to the fact that He is the Potter and we are the clay? Do you feel that holy conviction when you step out of His will or start to do something that is not pleasing in the sight of God? There was a song years ago that was titled, A Little Bit More Conviction by a singer called Carman. That is what I believe is the starting place for this subject. The adjoining place is the Bible. Are you studying to show yourself approved? or do you read sometimes a few verses but expect the pastors and teachers to do all your research in the Bible for you? Do you say amen at the teachings in your church because you know God's word, or because you simply want to agree with what is being taught without knowing it for yourself? In secular schools we get homework...the same needs to apply in the church...are you doing your homework? I have to occassionally turn off every one on Christian t.v and radio. Put down every book written by Christian authors and pick up my Bible and sit with the Lord allowing Him to show me what He is saying to me through His word. Sometimes there are so many different opinions and teaching that it can be mind boggling!! But the Bible itself is of no private interpretation and the Holy Spirit will reveal to us the understanding of the Bible when we ask and dig deep into the word. Sometimes it may take hours because the word just keeps getting better and better as we read, dig and study out those things we are not clear on or want to know more about, or simply something the Lord has birthed in our spirit to read as the Father speaks to us through His word for a need etc.. I said all that before I say this. Proper atire for both men and women should both honor and glorify the Father. If you are dressing to attract the opposite sex you will probably be dressing too worldly. If you are dressing to please the Lord your dress will reflect humility, modesty, and not be sexually distracting to members of the opposite sex. Do you want to draw attention to yourself, or the Lord. So o.k, the world may say something to you like, "Man I don't want to be a Christian because you guys don't allow short shorts.!!" Here is the clicker, do you then decide to wear short shorts to show them being a Christian is cool? Or do you continue to let your light shine and let the Lord bring them to the place of holy conviction? If we the body of Christ keep compromising with the world to reach the world all we are going to have in church is that social club that the world thinks is a fun place to be, not because of the wonder of our Great God, but because they don't have to truly submit themselves to the Potter and allow Him to change their lives inside and out! The Lord says come just as you are...He doesn't want you to stay that way. He is the Potter and we are the clay. He makes changes from the inside to the out. The older women are to teach the younger to be keepers at home, taking care of their husbands and children...reflecting and directing toward the likeness of the Lord and as the woman in Proverbs 31 does so clearly. love not the world..nor the things in the world is written SO the next time you get dressed to go to the house of the Lord ask yourself if you are giving Him your best. Next time you get dressed to go outside ask yourself it what you are wearing would be pleasing to the Lord and reflect Him. What would you wear if He invited you to dinner?
  17. "The greatest gifT a man can give his children is not a million dollar inheritance. The greatest gift he can give his children it to love his wife as Christ loved the church and let them see Christ in you." ___Jentezen Franklin HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ALL YOU DADS!!!
  18. HERE ARE A FEW SCRIPTURES THAT MIGHT MOVE YOU TO SEEK THE FACE OF THE LORD FOR OUR NATION AND THE NATIONS IN THESE LAST DAYS. WE KNOW THE TIME IS NEAR, HOWEVER, IT IS NOT THE TIME TO GIVE UP! JESUS SAID OCCUPY UNTIL I COME. THERE ARE STILL LOST SOULS THAT NEED TO HEAR THE GOSPEL AND NEED HEARTS THAT BREAK BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY SEE HAPPENING TO OUR NATION AND ARE MOVED TO STAND IN THE GAP. THANK YOU IRENEM. Nehemiah 1 1The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace, 2That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. 3And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. 4And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven, 5And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: 6Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned. 7We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses. 8Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations: 9But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there. 10Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand. 11O LORD, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer. ................................................................................ ........................................... Ezekiel 22 30And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. 31Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD. ................................................................................ ........................................... 2Chronicles 7 14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
  19. Thank you! It is always wonderful to hear or read the Word of God presented in such an encouraging fashion.
  20. Everywhere Jesus went He set the captives free. He healed them from sicknesses, cast out devils, healed their hurts, delivered them from bondages and sin. He passed the keys to us and in His name we have the authority to cast out devils, lay hands on the sick and set captives free. In Matthew 12 he tells of binding the strong man...speaking of satan and his evil devices. Bind him and loose those captive to him, in Jesus name. Whether it be sickness, a bondage or a devil...we have authority to bind him and set people free. We have authority to bind spirits of darkness away from the minds blinding people to the gospel so they can receive the gospel message and be saved. We have the authority to minister to the hurting and wounded, and bring the gospel of hope to those who are broken. The Lord gave us the keys. His love, His Spirit, His compassion, His power....all things that cannot be learned in a class or seminar...not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord. Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Isaiah 61 1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. Ezekiel 34 15I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD. 16I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: MATTHEW 12***** 21And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. 22Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 28But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. 29Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. MATTHEW 16 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. MATTHEW 18 18 Verily I say unto you, what things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. MARK 16 17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
  21. Another thing I've cut back on is scenic driving trips. I used to gas up about once a week and just go for a long drive and enjoy the view. Those trips are less often, and, I am turnng my back yard into a quiet place to relax instead.
  22. Worship is more like an acknowledgment of who God is and humbly following Him, serving Him and doing His will. I call it the place of the bowed knee. Praise is the verbal expression of our love and gratitude of the Lord. I call this the place of the raised hands. Worship and praise are inseperable. I call this the place of total surrender ...the place where the Lord inhabits the praises of His people. Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
  23. so which view did it lean toward? or was it one of those I'll show all the views around for you to see and you decide?
