  1. " Who will be left in a flesh and blood body once Christ returns? " Basically once Jesus returns that is when this World ends. Those who are his will be changed and will be with him. Those who are not his will in there bodies be judged and punished with hell. People have different theories about what happens when Jesus returns, at its simplest it's as I wrote, we go to be with him and non-Christians go to hell.
  2. Turn it around. Why didn't God give people the ability to do great good? Part of the answer is that he did give people the ability to do great good, but that is only if they are his, if they are Christian. Sin, being an enemy of God deprives people of the ability to do good. Oh you get people doing ' good ' deeds but who is it done for? A sinner raising millions for charity is doing ' good ' but it is not done to honour God so is not good. Isaiah 645:6,All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Phillipians3: 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. To be contraversial it what calvinism calls total depraverty. Not that everyone is as evil as they can be, but that there is no limit to the evil they can do.
  3. Not in Christians remit. We do not controll them, we oppose/resist or flee from them.
  4. Define what a terrorist is? Iran described Americas strike as an act of terrorism! One parties freedfom fighter is another parties terrorist. ithout the rule of law people and countries can only use force and that reduces everything down to the schoolyard and the bullies running it.
  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvg9r4q99g4o A massed air strike agai St three Iranian nuclear targets. No declaration of war, just a series of threats that something will happen. Interesting Russa and China have protested, but made no promise to help Iran. Ukraine leader is ridiculed for seeking American help. Europe is told it cannot count on American help if ww3 starts. What will Trump do if Iran does try to hit back? What do Americans expect of Europe?
  6. We are responsible for our acts, we all have a sense of right and wrong and need to do that which is right. Part of the problem is what is " Good " and what is " Evil " ? The Christian has a very clear definition as seen in the 10 commandments. Those Christians whose life's and acts do not live up to these standards will have a lot of explaining to do! The non Christian has to say why his morality is better than Christian morality and to explain why atheistic states don't try to live according to the better atheists morality.
  7. God's promise of blessings and renewal in the O T are to a repentant and devout Israel. Just how repentant and devout is the secular state of Israel? If Israel is not repentant and devout then does the verses promising blessing refer to Christians.
  8. What do you call a country that attacks another country without a declaration of war? Is international law to be followed or can powerful countries do what they like with weaker countries? It's worth remembering that the last war to destroy nuclear weapons found no evidence of saidcnuclear weapons. So how accurate are the assessment of the damage done by these strikes?
  9. May I suggest a noted Welsh preacher known for his biblical expostion. Dr. Martyn LLoyd Jones web sute:-https://www.mljtrust.org/ Many of his sermons were turned into books which you can still find, his series on Romans is highly regarded. Other wise may I suggestio that you join a local church, one where you can get to know the minister and most of the congragation, rather than a church where you are just ' another' member. Accountability is best when one is living ones life infront of those and among those who know you. Find and join a small local church
  10. Talk about warfare, spiritual armour and about tools, yet nothing is said about that vital element training. Let be real, where ever you work, what ever work it is would you take a school leave and put him to work with full responsibility for his area of work ? Or would you at the least teach him what to do, show what goes where etc etc etc. The Christian needs to be trained in how to be a Christian and that should happen in the local church, through sermons, bible study and from the example of others.
  11. God through Jesus gives us, his people collectively and singularly his peace, and grace. The enormity, the priviledge that this is we do not apriciate. Like in our ability to worship. The devout Jew then and today approaches God through rituals that prepare him spiritually to come close to God, but that closeness is distanced by the layers of priests, levites, rabbis and other doorkeepers. As adopted Sons we can enter the holy place that only the high priest could enter once a year and we come lightly, thourghtlessly, even carelessly into that same Holy place. God's grace on us is emmense.
  12. Start small and simple. For bible study set aside a time each day when you will read the bible, use a simple study aid example 'everyday with Jesus or similar and form a habit of doing it. Once this habit is established one can enlarge the time spent reading/studying the bible. Try using traveling time to listen to audio bibles. Memorising scripture. As every youth leader knows bible memory verses are learnt through repition, repition and repition. Make up some cards about credit card size and on these cards writ book chapter, verse and the verse. Along with your bible reading habit start a memorising habit. Pull out your bible verse cards and read aloud the first card, turn it over and reciet it, check the card, read it out loud, turn it over and reciept it. Do this untill you can say it correctly. Move on to the next card and so on through however many cards you have made. Do this every day, when you have 5 minutes to spare. Eventually you will know these verses, so change the daily repition to weekly and start a new set of daily verses.
  13. May I suggest a couple of options. 1/ check out the Christianityexplored web site for churches in your area. Then after looking at them on line try visiting them. 2/ make a list of pros and cons for each church. Nearness to home, friendlyness, preaching is it systematic or just an endless appeals, involvement in evangelism and missionaries, ask minister how accountable the church is on finance and on legal issues. From this list is there any church that stands out. Ask each church leader why you should join that church. From the answers etc pray about which church you should join.
  14. We are not told about the rich man or of Lazarus's judgement, we only see the results of that judgement. The key to this account is found in verses 29-31. Neither the rich man nor his brothers paid any attention to the Talmud, they had no personal faith in God and would suffer the consquences.
  15. From :-https://thekosherhub.com/kosher-vs-halal/ might be better to follow the link as it'll be clearer.

  17. So you would have All Christians leave government service, not work with or support any government or government supported charities and let corrupt positions run the government with no opposition from good men. If every Christian believed as you do we would still have slavery, children working in mines and factories, a working day of 12 hours. These are things that Christians changed through government.
  18. Jesus was not accepting flattery and was making a point about holiness. He was not saying he was not ' good ', but was pointing to the sorce of goodness.
  19. In other words get involved in politics.
  20. MKay I make a suggestion. Check out the Christianityexplored web site for churches in your area that are or have run this course and get in touch with the nearest church. ditto the Alpha course. I suggest this simple so you can attend a course on Christianity where questions can be asked and where one can get to know some people from the church running the course. It is a way of getting familiar with people before attending the church.
  21. A heavenly minded man is of the most earthly use ! and give a man a fish and you feed him once, teach him to fish and you feed him for life. What you are advocating is to just feed the hungry and bind up wounds, when true Christian love would teach the hungry how to better earn a living and teach the sick how not to get sick through hygiene etc. It was Christians in politics who brought women and children out of the mines, who limited the working day, establish education for the ignorant poor, stopped the western slave trade.
  22. Where do chapters and verse numbers come from:- "But the chapters in translations of the New Testament used today go back just to the beginning of the thirteenth century, when a lecturer at the University of Paris, named Stephen Langton, introduced major divisions into the Latin Bible. Verse divisions were not to come along for another three centuries. In 1551, a Parisian printer named Robert Stephanus published a Greek and Latin edition of the New Testament in which each chapter was divided into separate verses. These are the verse divisions still in use today. They first appeared in an English translation in the 1560 Geneva Version." from https://ehrmanblog.org/when-did-the-bible-get-chapters-and-verses/ You believe that a Roman Catholic Lecturer and a printer were inspired by God to ' Add ' these to the bible. A question for you. Please read Romans 14:7-13 and explain how you are able to judge and accuse other Christians?
  23. The claim that Christians should not be involved in the world is in direct opposition to Jesus's command to love those who are in the world. Do you deliberately shut your eyes to the evil and suffering in the world and say it has nothing to do with me? If a neighbour is in need would you help them? Do you actually support the preaching of the gospel and are you aware that being saved always is followed by a changed life. That new life affects people, it causes ripples of change. Yet you would have Christians not seek the opposition to evil, the encouragement of beneficial life styles. It is unloving to not tell a sinner about Jesus. It is equally unloving not to tell a people or society of the harm they are doing to themselves. Jesus loved the sinner, do you,
  24. One that has to be mentioned because of its importance is being an active part of the local body of believers. Hebrews 10: 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Our faith. our hope, is linked to our service of others in the local community of Christians, your local church.
  25. Discussion is good, but those making claims have to substantiate their claims with evidence. There is ample evidence from established historian as to the accuracy of the bible and of the resurrection. If someone is still rejecting evidence one has to ask why, what spiritual reasons are causing them to disbelief. It is a spiritual battle that we cannot win, our task is to present Jesus, it is then in God's hands.
