  1. Fortunately God is wiser and far more gracious than we are. He does not require us to have great theological know.edge, to know a creed or confession, nor does he say we must live a moral life to become a Christian. He expects us to receive his gift of faith, to confess what we now believe and to seek to live in obedience to his commands.
  2. Jesus died for my sins, was buried and rose again. How can I not love him.
  3. As has been said, we can pray for them and live a Christian life style and seek to witness. Conversations can be directed to Christian teams, questions can be asked, as many people have ideas, support programmes/charities based on Christian morality. Asking what they believe about.. or why they believe....? Can make them think as can the question. What evidence do you have for that belief? Be bold, if you eat with them, whether at home or out make a point of saying grace for everyone out loud before anyone eats. Try challenging your minister to put on an apologetic evening, either with a speaker or watching a coldcase lecture on video and invite them to the meeting.
  4. Which medieval kingdoms did this where? A blanket unspecified charge like this is valueless. It certainly shows how little you know of european history. Most kingdoms where to occupied with either internal power struggles or external wars. Spain had a long war with the muslim kingdoms in Spain, states in Germany under the tutonic kights waged a war of expansion into Germany, Lithuania and Poland. Poland and the southern countries in eastern erope fought against mulim expansion, and against the slavic states in Russa. It is only the crusades that can be claimed to be a colonial war and even that was the result of muslim aggression.
  5. Sorry but it is not clear. As your other post on these verses show, all to often only the part about wives submitting is preached. Christian men and women need to be taught that Christian marriage is agai St their national cultural traditions, no matter what country or traditions they have. Christian marriage is a partnership between equals. It is a team/joint function. A husband being willing to give up, to sacrifice everything for his wife. A wife who respects and trusts her husband will willingly submit to him. No man who has a sacrificial love for his wife will expect him to do anything hurtful or repugnant to her.
  6. Where do you get that idea from? Do you understand the different forms of slavery found in the bible? Do you know what God has said about it and also what Paul and the apostles said about it?
  7. Here we go yet another pretext for abuse. Why won't these know alls actually read the contex Verse 21 say submit to one another and verse 25 says, Husbands love your wife as Christ loved the church, giving up everything for her. It is only in this context that wives are to obey a husband who will give up everything for her. Come on you " know all, wife abusers" explain who has power in such a relatio ship?
  8. Paul and the other apostles were tasked with preaching the gospel, not reforming the world. Chattel slavery was an economic fact of life in the Roman empire. As has been made clear the bible p.aced limitations on how chattel slaves could be treated and on how indentured slaves could be treated. There was no social services in the ancient world, if ones farm or business failed the cho5 was stark. Starve or become an indentured servant. That Christianity would change the Roman empire and the world is a result of the commands to love people practically. So yes the bible does not outrightly condemn slavery. But then no other world view either Co demns slavery or seeks to place moral/legal limits upon slavery. Challenge any one who attacks slavery or any apparent I justice in the bible, as to where they get there morality from. Last comment Paul in 1 Timoth 1:10 makes it clear that slavery is wrong.
  9. I am reluctant to post as while I know something of the pain of seeing one's child suffer, I have no experience like yours. What can I suggest. I often recommend the Web site 25 tips for dealing with OCD link:- https://iocdf.org/expert-opinions/25-tips-for-ocd-treatment/ All I can surg3st is to combine the techniques with talking to your doctor about getting stronger sedatives to help your son gain some sort of control over his intrusive thoughts. As to your final comment, would you hate God because of your sons death? That depends on how you view God and his justice and mercy. God did not have to save us, equally he does not have to heal us of any illness etc. It is hard to watch one's child suffer, we don't have the right to expect healing in this life. It is almost as hard to put ones trust in God, but that is the only hope any of us have.
  10. There is gold to be found in reading about forgotten preachers of old. Two of my favourite are Christmas Evens and Billy Bray.
  11. We know there are many who are silent believers because of their fear of family, neighbours or the authorities. Belevers in Islamic countries, in North Korea are two that come to mind. It is a testimony to the power of the gospel that in spite of the known reaction of others people do believe. Would were as brave and as trusting if our fa ILY was seeking to kill us?
  12. What evidence, from the bible or life, do you have that eternal life in heaven will be boring? Have you any idea how bountiful our God is? Do you believe that he knows our needs? Could it be that with a spiritual body like the one Jesus showed we too will be able to do amazing things.
  13. First of all Mormons and jw are not Christian, in that they do not believe in salvation is only through faith in Jesus. They both add works to faith. Any church that's as that is not Christian. Secondly you are talking about secondary issues. Is talking in tongues, belief in once saved or the ability to loose salvation, infant baptism, types of church government or types of church service, songs sung, music etc etc etc of primary importance. As Christians we have three tasks. To believe in Jesus. To show our love for him by our obedience to his commands And to spread the knowledge of him. How do the many different Christian churches differ with regard to this requirements?
  14. One learns theology partly through sermons, partly through talking/discussing theology and partly through study. This then influences one's choice of what church to join. As a church member one can discuss sermon content with the preachers. It is what Paul was driving at when he moaned about " baby Christians " not growing in their faith so to be able to eat solid food.
  15. Does it, please demonstrate how Christian churches are divided. You have made a claim, so it is up to you to prove your claim.
  16. So Christians trying to witness on line in their web sites, blogs etc are really demonic? Or is it a case of ' test the spirits' and 'by there fruits you will know them' ? An influencer is merely someone who makes known their thoughts, experiences etc to other people. examples include yourself, every poster on a forum, preachers, bible study leaders, teachers, Politian's etc etc etc.
  17. If we are unwilling to let the bible drive our view of life, if we are unwilling to sit regularly under a biblical expository ministry, if we will not learn to eat the 'meat' of Christian belief then we are also unwilling to listen to rebukes and exhortations whether from God, a preacher or other Christians.
  18. What do you mean by ' believers divided ' ? All Christians are part of Gods body and as such are united.
  19. I can think of three occasions when Moses was angry. When he murdered the Egyptian overseer. Then he was angry, quite justly at injustice and brutality, but he let his anger drive his actions, which was as injustice as the overseers. Then as he returned with the tablets of the law he was angry at the immorality and idolatry in the Isralites camp. Then his righteous anger was directed at the offence being committed against God and it resulted in a very symbolic punishment to the Israelites. Third the people had no water, God told him to speak to a rock and it would produce water. Moses in anger at the grumbling of the Israelites assumed that he had power and authority, rather being the instrument of God. In anger he struck the rock. Three examples of anger and action. There is something wrong with us if injustice, if cruelty, if abuse or blatant neglect of the vulnerable does not cause us to be angry. Eph 4:26 in your anger do not sin. That is the challenge. As for judging, we all make judgements, but do we judge rightly and are we willing to be judged in the same way we judge?
  20. Matt 21:12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 ‘It is written,’ he said to them, ‘“My house will be called a house of prayer,” but you are making it “a den of robbers.” Angry because they were stealing/cheating from those wanting to worship God. God spoke about empty meaningless worship:-https://www.esv.org/Jeremiah+6:20;Isaiah+1:11–15;Amos+5:21–23/
  21. I have never come across this, the nearest I've heard of our online zoom bible studies, where people can ask questions, make comments on the passage, but these sort of meeting are usually for known church atendies, not open to all. You may find an online zoom meeting at a church doing the christianityexplored course or alpha, but I don't know of any churches currently doing this, our church runs alpha but at the church in person. I would suggest going to a church late, once the first hymn is being sung and to leave as the last hymn starts. You could slowly stay longer and start to meet people.
  22. If you are serious about being Christ like, join a church and serve the people in that church and community. Neither Jesus or any Christian seeking to be like Jesus, lived I isolation, they were involved with people, meeting them, talking with them, being willing to help them and being involved with them. Start reading books about famous Christians. You will find they All served people. Jesus is our example of a servant, mixing with people, interacting with the,.
  23. Rather than tell them what you believe, why not ask. What do you believe ? Then when they've explain what the believe, ask them. What evidence do you have for that belief? Just be sure you can give a ratio Al reason for your faith.
  24. The passage in Acts 10, does not have angels preaching the gospel, instead they deliver a message . ,“Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering! 5 Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.” A gels are servants of God and he uses them as he sees fit.
