If you think they should know you don't read many forum posts. Human lives matter for one and only one reason. We are All regardless of race, give, class or colour, made in the image of God and to abuse or destroy that image is to seek to do that to God. Similarly the right enshrined in the American declaration of rights and also found in the United Nations declaration are traced only from the Judeo-Christian philosophy of law and morality. The OT repeatedly calls for the protection of the widow, the Orphean and the foreigner/alien and calls for equal treatment for viruses and noncitizens. The NT stresses are equality before God and ,again stresses the importance of equal treatment between freemen, slaves, barbarians, and women This call for equality in treatment and before the law is unique no other religion or philosophy of life has it. Final point. Jesus died for all regardles of race, tribe, language, class, sex, legal status and we as imitators of Jesus should love everyone as Jesus loves them. Sacrificially.

You should really talk to your minister and either borrow a book on the trinity or details so you can buy the book. Untill you do this. God is a Trinity made up of God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. This is not spelt out in the Bible, but can be seen in various passages. Jesus, God the Son, emptied himself of much of his Godhood and became man. It is what Christmas's is all about. He came to teach but also to live a sinless life so he could be a perfect sinless sacrifice for our guilt, shame, sin and take on himself the punishment we deserved.. That he did this is seen at Easter when he died, we hurried and resurrected to life as a sign that he had done all he had set out to do.

Rom 4:22-25 As with Abraham, so with the Christian
Who me replied to bcbsr's topic in General Discussion
The encouraging thing about this is that even though Abraham's faith credited him rightousness, his actual living out of that faith was as great or a lousy as our living of our faith. He lied to pharaoh, he lied to abimelech he doubted God's promise, That he was so humanism his weaknesses is an encouragement to us. -
Behold, I stand at the door and knock

Is there a reason for posting this verse? Is there an application we should be aware of? -
Two examples of an incomplete knowledge of forgiveness. As always forgiveness is dependant on repentance. Our example is Jesus and he did not forgive you without your being truly sorry for your hatred of God, sin and rejection etc. When there is repentance we Must forgive, no matter how hard or how often they offend us. However if there is no repentance, we are if possible to tell them or if repentance is not possible ( unknown or dead offender ,) Then we pass the situation, our feelings etc over to God as Jesus did while being crucified. But it doesn't stop there. We are told to pray for our enemies, to pray for their benefit and that is what we have to do with someone who has offended/hurt us and will not or cannot say sorry. Christian forgiveness is hard work, it is much easier to manufacture feelings of forgiveness and try to forget.

Interesting of all the many reasons for Christians given in the N T to display there love for God, this verse from Ephesians is quoted. What of the right we have to be Sons of God., Or of our adoption in to his family, being co heirs with Christ. Then there is Jesus's direct command to us, " If we Love him, then we Will Obey his commands!" There are many other verses that tell us why we should love our Lord and Saviour.
-
Why are we to love people? In just stating we should you either assume people know why they should or more likely do not know why we should. You are being like the BLM protestors who chant this, but have no idea why lives matter.

Jesus was born, he ate, slept, sweated, got thirsty and he also healed the sick, created food and drink, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, speech to the dumb, cast out evil spirits, raised the dead and most tellingly of all forgave sins. There is no doubt Jesus was man and that he is also God. Wesley put it briliantly,:- Our God contracted to a span, incomprehensibly made man.

Sounds to me like you sit at home not getting involved with a local church. One of the major reasons we are to meet with others, is not that we might be blessed, but that we might be a blessing to others. I often advise. Enquiring atheists to join a gospel church and to be openly the friendly atheist, who holds the preacher to account for his rationality in his sermon and to be asking Christians, why do you believe that and what evidence do you have for that belief. I do this for two reasons. That in being exposed to practical Christianity and arguing the reasoning behind it the atheist will come to know Jesus. While also making the preacher and the Christians deepen there knowledge of the Bible. I would suggest you do the same. Attend your local church and be the friendly nondenominational believer, challenging the preacher and members as to why they believe that and what evidence they have for the belief. I don't think you will become a card carrying what ever they are, but you will let light into areas of he church where salt and light have not been for years.

Total nonsence. The twelve years Jesus frequently talk about the kingdom of God as a place that was not here. Even the text you quote do not talk about a physical kingdom but of a spiritual Kingdom.
-
So Baptist's stress one must be baptised if one wants to join there church. Penticostals stress speaking in tongues and grade Christians by there ' gifts' or lack of. Calvanist stress predestination to a greater or lesser extent. Anglican,/CoE have rituals and set order of services. Non denomnations are proud of there tradition of not having traditions with set service patterns no set order of service! May be things are different in the states, here I mix with different Christians from different traditions and there idiosyncrasies aside, I see no difference. Just how do you see these majoring in minors making a difference?

In on sense it is, in another it is the new heaven and new earth.

Jesus is. A very simplistic answer so let's unpack it . Jesus is the author of creation, as he says in genesis, Deuteronomy he in the N T the universe was made in six literal days. Science when looked at through the lens of Christianity confirms this, just as when looked at through the lens of atheism it denies it. But science without Christianity has no foundation, no way of accounting for the universe being rational, explainable by mathematics, for the intricate complexity of its inter dependency. Life makes no sense untill one realises that there is a God, we are made to be in relationship with him, but we have ruptured that relationship. The chaos of life is a result of that. Only Jesus restores the relationship and only he makes things right. So Jesus is the measure of truth, he is the truth.

So how do I debate a non-believer on the existence of GOD?
Who me replied to JacquelineDeane55's topic in Apologetics
Welcome to the forum. Debate is a skill like driving a car, flying a plane or riding a horse. One learns the information in support of one's position, one learns the information that supports the opposite view and one studies other debates and learns the tactics of debating. May I suggest you start following peopl like William Lane Craig, Dr Gregg Habermas and watching there lectures and debates. Useful web sites are wintery knight, coldcasechristianity, answersingenesis, creation.com, evolution news and views. Look at the posts made by atheists on Christian refit, atheist Reddit, Christian forum and here as well as any other atheist and Christian forums. When you think you are ready start posting.- 1 reply

You cannot have it both ways, if some people are predestined for salvation it follows that some are also predestined for hell. It is not a question about God's justice in trying people but a question of what theological position one takes re predestination or man's free choice.

How is this wrong, if they also preach the gospel?
-
Context context context. The first eight verses answer this question. Jesus is talking about those who love to be a rabbi, or teacher, or Father, fit is this empty praise and putting on a pedestal that Jesus is saying don't do it. Your leaders, your teachers are to be servants not lords.
-
No thank you. A fair trial of my behaviour, have you any idea what you are talking about? Read again what the summary of the ten commandments says or the command issued by God in Matt 5:48 and think when have you ever obeyed these commands? Think again you want a fair trial of your failure to keep these commands? We are saved because Jesus took our place. Don get me wrong God is perfectly Just and the trial everyone will face will be fair, but no Christian will get what they deserve.

No theology, of the sort found in text books was revealed by God. Theology is man's attempt to express and define what is found in the Bible. There is Roman Catholic theology, liberal theology, progressive theology, health and wealth theology, Arminian theology, Calvinistic theology. I am sure there are more forms of theology and they are all marrying to understand God from there perspective. So yes theology can be reformed in the sence that what it says can be revieed, edited and changed so it is no longer belonging to a particular theological group.

A Christian Response to the Ancient Jewish Anti-Gospel
Who me replied to Deadworm's topic in Defense of the Gospel
All rendered unnecessary by Jesus's instruction to John to take care of Mary. If she was married it would be her husband's responcibility. If widowed again, it would be her children's responcibility, children from this other marriage. That Jesus was responsible shows she was not married and that she had not married again. -
By living for God. In that what ever you do, whether housework, or a boring shelf stacker job, or being a rocket scientist what ever you don't do to earn your pay, to gain people's praise or Nobel prizes etc but you do for the honour and glory of God. How are you at gosling about your Christian life to nonchristian colleagues, friends and family members? Can you give a reason for your faith? Note the Bible says give a reason, there is no fluffy ' just believe' rubbish, but give a valid reason that holds together under examination. Does the quality of your Christian life stand out when compared to the lives of non Christian friends and family?

A case of shoot one self in the foot. Looking for the Messiah but not for Jesus. As for facts every fact other than that Jesus is coming again is debated vigerously by the different factions. We will compare notes afterwards.
