The Christian Life is not Hard - it is Impossible!
Alive replied to Vine Abider's topic in General Discussion
It's important that we realize where the good works come from. Paul makes a distinction in 'our works' and what God does in and through us. Ephesians 2:9 not as a result of works, that no one should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. -
That is an interesting observation and in the realm of fun stuff to note

This is false. Sinaiticus says son. -
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:1-5 NKJV)

The title is borrowed from George’s morning devotional post. When reading it, I had a thought that might be helpful. We are to love the Lord and love our neighbor as ourselves. We are admonished in scripture to examine ourselves. Let’s take a moment to do that. Do you find yourself desiring to help your neighbor? Does this naturally flow from Christ within? It should. Being aware of this we can approach the Lord for help as we grow in Him and get more and more ‘salty’. Oh, the wonder of His Life!

Amen…and finally all joined in unity in the one Olive tree. I await that day.

What is the most important & main message in the Bible?

I wrote many sermons in an outline form having an idea of what I wanted to expound on…often, the Lord would take over and take us in another direction. The best laid plans of mice and men….. :-) -

This is the thing. A question in a recent post was asked..something like--what is good teaching. Teaching is not passing on information. In the context of Christ's Church, it comes from an individual gifted (short or long term) and anointed for the Head's purpose and intention. How does one tell the difference? The Body responds and witnesses to that anointing... and there is fruit. Then or later. -

The anointing of the Lord on this is as effectual as any. Its the Lord that has the power to bless and make the words Live. -

And.... John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. John 21: -
I Tend to think along the lines expressed here... Stuart Olyott in his, Dare to Stand Alone: Daniel Simply Explained “We must realize that some of the Bible’s teachings relating to the very last days will not be understood until we are in those days. That is why it is both unwise and dangerous to draw up detailed timetables of future events. Some parts of the Word of God will not become obvious in their meaning until the days of which they speak have dawned.” (p 166)

AI is not smart…it simply spits out what it is fed and it is fed by the internet, which contains all manner of junk mixed with accurate information. And the algorithm can be altered.

My view is different than many and I have seen it all for over 50 years. Some time ago, I came to think nobody but nobody alive today understands the book of Revelation. When it was first circulated the Church did because God gifted men at the time to explain it. Much confusion has arisen over the years as men try to apply current events…I think it’s vain. The Lord will return in time…meanwhile we occupy. It’s very simple to me.

What is the most important & main message in the Bible?

I am convinced it is in an understanding of what Paul means here. Just what is/was God’s ‘Eternal Purpose’. Getting this right goes a long way toward balancing all of scripture. “according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Ephesians 3:11 NKJV) God wants a family after ‘kind’, which is an immutable principle. -

The Lord bless and keep you. Is there much active evangelism there?

Exactly and well said. Worthy is meant for fruitful conversation but even more important is encouraging and loving folks that stop by. Just as the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, so should we be.

Angel——you are not alone in two ways. There are many converts in such a state as you are and you are never alone because Christ will never leave you…ever. He is the Great Shepherd and He is your Shepherd. I often suggest folks spend lots of time in John and the first three chapters of Ephesians. I also suggest you might click on ‘Salvation is Relocation’ below. That little study leads you through much encouraging scripture. May the Lord give you Peace and Rest in Him and you come to understand the glorious Gift of His Salvation.
