Oversight, there is a form of speech called hyperbole which means the statement is exaggerated to make a point. I think Jesus was stressing the extreme length we might have to go to avoid sinning. example the eye - some may choose not to watch tv at all if it causes certain emotions to come up that they can't control. That's extreme to some like putting out ones eye.

Think Jesus is referring to his true followers in comparison to the world which is in darkness because Satan is its ruler 1 John 5:19. Whereas his followers are to be different shedding spiritual light/enlightenment to those seeking.

Whatever we are going through the bible says that God is faithful not to put more on us than what we can bear. 1 Corinthian 10:13 but will give us the wisdom and power to cope to endure it.

Well, Jesus and Paul give Christians words of wisdom for marriages. Jesus at Matthew 19:9 give the only basis that God approves of to dissolve a marriage (not that it has to be dissolved) forgiveness can be extended. My thoughts are in line with what Revelation mentions at Revelations 11:18b how man have been ruining the earth for so long. The Ozone is just about gone, pollution is everywhere etc. Therefore I'm not surprise we are having climate issues. And man can't correct the problem. Agree there are too many different denominations and what makes them different is the doctrines they teach. Therefore we must study the word to see what the bible actually teach! Because like Paul just because we have a zeal for what we believe don't make it right.

I think realizing where we are in the stream of time can help in staying awake spiritually. Just as with literal wakefulness, when you know when something is about to happen we tend to be more aware/awake in anticipating it.

Agree we need to know Jesus but from what John 17:3 Jesus said : "We must take in knowledge of both him and who sent him". Who would that be??
