If I possess nude sketches, is it a sin?
LonerAndy replied to Johnathan Carlos's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
I know many people who have. You can do whatever you want. There are no religious police. But eventually we'll all be held to account for our actions, and "slippery slope fallacy" will not cut it with the Lord of Lords. -

Let's not do that. Even if you are fine with it, you are setting a bad example for those around you, as to what a Christian is, and how a Christian has standards. Further, you could cause another Christian to stumble, and end up trapped in porn, because he saw you have nudes. So.. that's my advice. Dump the trash, and stay away from it. -
Will vaping send you to hell?
LonerAndy replied to F_Ivan's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
There is a difference between what is sinful, and what is unwise. 1 Cor 10:23 says that although everything is lawful, not all things are profitable. Watching stranger things, and other TV shows is not wrong, or going to send you to hell. But spending all your time on watching TV, instead of something profitable, is not wise. The fact that you are even bringing this up, suggests to me that the Lord wants you to stop. -
Can God erase bad memories?
LonerAndy replied to Almondtree's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Yes, G-d can erase bad memories, but that is not likely to happen. Instead you will likely have to simply work through it, and hope that time and effort will heal wounds. This is why it is important to avoid causing wounds, unless they are absolutely required. -
I am cynical at best. However, I like it. They won't close the beaches, but they'll close a church. So have church on the beaches. That is absolutely brilliant. Perhaps this entire thing, is exactly what G-d can use to shake up the church. Shake out the people who worship government, and replace them with people who worship G-d. I like it. Let's pray this is G-d moving in So-Cal.

This is a pretty good video of how David Wood became a Christian. It's also an interesting insight into the mindset of Atheist thinking.

So I own a 9mm. I my parents have guns. My relatives have guns. Most of the people at my church have guns. I would encourage every single christian to have basic fire arms training, and to own a weapon. The only thing you said, that I would advise against, is getting special bullets. Find out what bullets your local police force uses, and use those. The reason why is simple, although it will sound ridiculous. You don't want some prosecutor, saying that you intended to kill people because you bought "cop killer" or special bullets designed to kill people. This is ridiculous and absurd, but this is the world we live in. Buy the bullets that closely match what police use.
-
In old English, killing meant murder. They never referred to for example, the death penalty for murderers, as being "killing". It was punishment. Obviously you kill people in war for example. And all throughout the judges, they nearly all killed people as punishment or war. And similarly, when Jesus returns, it says he will put his enemies to death, and we know Jesus does not violate the law. Hope that helps.

How do you guys feel about the vaccines for Covid?
LonerAndy replied to Figure of eighty's topic in General Discussion
"So what you are saying is because you don't know anyone who had died from Covid, that means no one dies?" You made that up. I never said that. Don't make up stuff people didn't say. "Maybe they are living with common sense and a respect for the facts." Implication, I don't have common sense, or a respect for facts. "Maybe you need to look outside your own little world." That is a direct insult. Going forward, you are not to reply in insulting ways, or make up things I didn't say. Clear? -

LonerAndy replied to Figure of eighty's topic in General Discussion
Rule number one with me, don't make up stuff I didn't say. I didn't do that to you. You did that to me. Rule number two, don't be insulting. I was not insulting to you. I pointed out clear cut facts, from the CDC. You started insulting me. If that's your way of talking to people, don't talk to me. Jesus wouldn't do that, and neither should you. I have said openly, that I respect the way you wish to live. And I have told you how I'm going to live. I assume I have made myself clear on this, and I will expect you to abide by those rules. If you don't, then I will place you on ignore, and never see anything you say on this forum ever again. Jesus wouldn't put up with that, and nor will I. This is sad, that people can't discuss something, without being jerks, but I am not going to swap spit with someone that is insulting and belittling to me. This is why non-christians hate christians. Don't do that again. How would you feel if I made up stuff you didn't say, and starts saying "oh well maybe you LadyKay should look outside your own little world"? If you would not like that done to you, then don't do that to others. Are we clear on this, or do you wish me to place you on ignore right now? I'll abide by your wishes, if that's what you want. -
How do you guys feel about the vaccines for Covid?
LonerAndy replied to Figure of eighty's topic in General Discussion
Because I had Covid-19, and so did my parents. My 78 year old father, with diabetes, and asthma, had Covid-19. So did some of my relative. So did many others I know. So far, total number of deaths from the dozens of people I know who had Covid-19, is zero. I haven't had any long term effects, nor have anyone I know. Not one. Does that mean no one has health post-illness health effect? Of course some do. That's true of almost any illness. I know a lady who got bitten by a tick, got lime disease, and now has long term health effects from that. I know people who got Pneumonia, and have long term health effects from that. Should we close down the country over lime disease and pneumonia? I have a friend who lives in Hawaii. She worked for the hospital. According to official numbers, hundreds on hundreds of people have had Covid-19 and dozens have died. Yet on an island, where everyone knows everyone, she does not know a single person anywhere who died of Covid-19. She told me, she doesn't believe anything they say anymore, and she worked in the hospital. You realize that even according to the CDC, that they were labeling anyone who died of symptoms similar to Covid-19, that they were calling it a Covid-19 death. If someone did die of the flu, they called it Covid-19. That isn't debatable, we know it was happening, because the hospitals got more money for calling it a covid death. Even CDC RIGHT NOW.... openly admits they were creating false numbers. https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/05/21/860480756/scientists-warn-cdc-testing-data-could-create-misleading-picture-of-pandemic CDC admits openly, they were adding the number of people who tests showed had anti-bodies against Covid-19... to the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19. Meaning people that already had Covid-19, and did not even know they had it, and were virus free... were added to people who tested positive for the infection. They were inflating numbers to drum of fear and terror in the public. So let me just be clear. I'm not going to be afraid. End of story. Covid-19 is not a reason to be afraid, and I am not going to live that way. If you want to, that's fine. You can live how you choose. There is something sad though, that the previous generation, which ironically is the older generation that is more at risk from Covid-19, is not living that way. My parents church, where all the older people are... their church opened over 6 weeks ago. Singing songs, praising the Lord, living life to its fullest. My church, with younger, more fear based, and living life in terror... won't open until mid-next month. That's sad. That's not "safe". That's sad. -

Yeah, like the flu. Doesn't change the fact, vast majority of people have no symptoms, and the majority of the rest have flu like symptoms. Yes, people die of illnesses. Yup. Very true. -
Found This Quite By Accident---Need To Read
LonerAndy replied to Coliseum's topic in General Discussion
Actually this is true of all things. Do you know why the Soviet Union destroyed itself? Because it is absolutely impossible, for mindless bureaucrats in a building a 10 thousands miles away, to know what everyone in the entire country is doing. This is not possible. When Walmart decided to add rotisserie chicken to their deli, they originally had planned on just letting the food inspections from the government, to verify the quality of the chicken sold. After a year, they discovered that out of all the stores across the country, that only 3 government inspections had taken place, and 2 of those inspections were at the same store. The idea that government is going to verify every single drug, or vaccination, or steak, or sandwich, or build, or electrical wiring job, or anything else.... is just ridiculous. Government is not G-d. They have no ability to check everything. And it is a sad fact that today Christians who should be putting their faith in G-d, are putting their faith in government. That somehow government is going to be our savior and fix all things in this world. There is only one G-d, and we need to place our faith in him, not government. -
There have always been plagues and illness breakouts throughout the world, throughout history. What we are going through, from an illness perspective, is entirely normal. What is not normal, is having the entire planet freak out about it. Humans are doing more damage to themselves, than Covid-19 is. From a Revelation perspective, Covid-19 is nothing. Absolutely nothing. The revelation events, are massive, clear cut, unambiguous judgements from G-d. We know this because Half the population of the Earth will be killed off in the judgements. That's 4 Billion people roughly. A few hundred thousand, most of whom were already on their death beds, killed by Covid-19, is not a revelation level event.

How do you guys feel about the vaccines for Covid?
LonerAndy replied to Figure of eighty's topic in General Discussion
I'm not particularly worried about it either way. Over 80% of people who catch covid-19, do not even have symptoms. Most of the rest, have mild flu-like symptoms. At this point, I would be more concerned about having a negative reaction to the vaccine, than catching Covid-19, especially since I think I already had it. -
You can file this under the many reasons I am not a left-wing Democrat. These people are getting more crazy every single day.

So let me just give you my perspective, and maybe you will disagree entirely, but at least you will understand my perspective, and I think the perspective of many people. Even if you disagree, at least you might understand where some of us are coming from. I will warn you up front, I'm going to tell some stories to illustrate my point, which means this will likely be a long post. But hopefully not boring. First, many years ago, I was church where I had been going for some months. The pastor had this thing he would do every once in awhile he would say "I want all of you to go across the isle, and find someone you never talk to, and shake their hands, and introduce yourself!". Then all these people would flock over and shake your hand, and smile at you, and introduce themselves..... and then vanish. I used to hate that so much, because it was obviously contrived and phony. On the days that he did not directly order those people to do that, they never did. I was sitting in that pew 15 minutes before the service started, and not one of them said hi to me. I was there after that service ended, and not one said a word to me on the way out. Only for that 20 seconds during the service, when they were ordered to say hi to someone they didn't know, did they pretend that they cared I existed. There is nothing more insulting to me, than to have people pretend they give a rip about you, when they most certainly do not. Well... this guy on stage said that we needed to go and prioritize black relationships. Now every single time any black guy in the church, has a white guy talk to them, he's going to wonder is that white guy talking to him because he cares, or because they were ordered to 'prioritize black relationships'? Would you like that? Would you like having someone come over and pretend he cared, because guy on stage told him to? Pretend the situation is reversed, and you are the lone white guy, in a church of black people. You've been going there a few months, or even years, and you have a few friends at the church. Then the black preacher says "You need to prioritize white relationships!", and all of sudden these people who never bothered with you before, suddenly flock around you pretending they really care. Would you like that? Would you? Maybe you would, but I would hate that. It's not real. You can't force relationships like that. It makes the relationship fake and plastic, and that is condescending to the person having this falseness foisted upon them. On top of that, doing that isn't even about the black person. When you do that, it's no longer about them, it's about you. It's about the white guy proving to the world that he's a non-racists good person, because he's going out of his way to be caring for the black man. You go and prioritize your relationship with the black guy, is just you saying "Look at me! I'm a black person loving white guy! I'm not a racists! Looky looky!". That is horrific to me. Second, back when I was in college, I had a class called "Social Problems", and the big topic was racism. In this class, we had a discussion on "unconscious racism". The idea that you really are racists, but you just don't know it. In the class we had this black lady up front, who said she knew about this, because when she got onto an elevator, people would clutch their belongings tighter to them. Like they were going to steal them, on a elevator with the doors shut, that they can't escape from until it reaches a floor. That was her proof that all white people on elevators are racists against blacks. Clutching belongings closer when other people get on the elevator. Fast forward two weeks, I'm on an elevator at the school by myself going to the ground floor to leave, and a bombshell blonde curvy girl got on the elevator. I immediately picked up my book bag and laptop, and held them close. Then I remembered that black lady, and laughed, likely making that chick think I had lost my mind. I was thinking, Oh crud! I'm racists against extremely attractive blonde girls! And I'm a Christian! I must repent of my evil quickly before I face the wrath! It was ridiculous. Well in this sermon, the guy said we all have unconscious bias against black people, and cited an example of a black guy that was jogging or walking his dog, and the people crossed to the other side of the street. I've done that.... with white people. You come towards me, walking your dog, or riding your bike on the sidewalk, or rollerblading, even just a couple of guys coming the other way... I cross to the other side. Give them room. I must be racists against white rollerbladers! Ridiculous. And what exactly am I supposed to do about that? I'm a terrible evil racists, but you can't prove it, and I don't even know I have evil racists thoughts.... really? How am I supposed to fix thoughts I don't even apparently know I have? I could be wrong, but I have been taught in church since I was a kid, that you judge people's actions, not the thoughts behind those actions, you because you don't know their thoughts . You don't know exactly why that guy crossed to the other side of the street. For you to sit there and say "obviously they have unconscious racism, and that's why they crossed the street, because they hate black people".... like you are G-d? Really? Effectively this message is "you are doing something terrible, evil, and racists. I can't prove it, and you don't know it, but you are, and it needs to stop". What do you want me to do? And lastly, this relentless attack on the police, which is entirely unjustified by any perspective. Now this guy said, actually said on stage, that black people are more likely to be killed by police, than killed in a murder. That is not just wrong factually, but it's insanity. https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/ In 2019, 235 black people were killed by police. 209 in 2018. https://www.statista.com/statistics/251877/murder-victims-in-the-us-by-race-ethnicity-and-gender/ 7,400 blacks were murdered in 2018. I couldn't find the 2019, but I bet it is higher. The idea that blacks are more in danger of being killed by police, than by criminals, isn't just wrong.. it is flat out insane. And he went on to suggest we needed to control police even more, saying that Ohio's police body cam laws are a good start, but we need more. As if police are standing around trying to figure out new ways to kill black people. Police are not there, because they want to be. Police didn't go pick on Floyd because they were bored. Police are following orders, to do what they are told to do. The stop and frisk in NYC, wasn't because police really enjoy searching people. They were ordered to search people. No officer is sitting around thinking "you know it's Thursday so, I really like making people angry, and wasting my time. I think I'll pick random people and search them!". The police are doing what they are paid, trained, and told to do. To go where they are called to go, confront who they are told to confront, and stop criminals. If there is more blacks in prison than whites, that's not the police fault. Blacks are not being randomly rounded up, and tossed in prison. I grew up in a upper middle class area. Almost entirely white. We had no crime. Just no crime. Break ins, never happened. Cars, never stolen. We had this goofy little "Arlington Gazette" and all the 'crime' reports, fit usually in one single column of one page, and it was "Reported missing golf clubs", which the old guy likely left in the trunk of the other Mercedes, and forgot about it. I know of black neighborhoods, where people eat their dinners on the floor, because it's safer in case a bullet flies into the house from people outside. That's the reality. Blacks do commit more of the violent crimes in society, than whites do. That is also a fact. It just is. From 1980 to 2008, of all homicides, across the entire country, of the offenders... the people who committed murder... of the offenders.... 45% where white. 52% where black. This isn't a "black people are all evil", this is a response to "More blacks are in prison, so therefore.... racism". No. Sorry that is wrong. Having different outcomes is not proof police are racists. The police are doing their jobs. The courts are doing their jobs. The results are, what the results are. Now to wrap this all up in a neat little package.... Obviously as a Christian, I have no problem with reaching out to other communities. I will say, that I don't think the black communities specifically are all that receptive to white people. I don't think they really want your outreach. I think that Black churches should step it up, and stop preaching how everyone is racists, and start preaching Jesus Christ and repentance. But of course we are supposed to love our neighbors. Of course. That doesn't mean pretending their bigoted claims that police are all racists, is true. Nor is it 'loving' to pander to false claims of "unconscious racism". Instead of preaching that police are racists, we should be preaching Acts 10:34. And I would never have had a problem with such a teaching. However, all this other nonsense, is not helpful. Just my view.

Oh of course. The first thing I replied back with was.... My faith and belief in your calling and ministry has never been in doubt. Nothing this guest speaker said, changes my continued support of your ministry, or the belief that G-d is with Cypress Church. Yeah, you always need to be as supportive as possible. Are you kidding? Being pastor of a church is like being in charge of a hurricane that never stops, but only grows and shrinks in size. This is why I could never be a pastor. I'd be telling everyone to get out. lol
-
If I I have to check who is preaching to determine if I go to church, then I'm in the wrong church. I already sent a message to the church leadership, which simply said "I'm ashamed of (the church)". The pastor sent an email to me, and mentioned in there, the exact problem. So my guess is, he's already gotten some massive feedback from this. He's a good man. A very good man. I don't think they realized what this guy was going to say on stage. Our church decided not to open until mid august, so this was an online live sermon. I don't think this will happen again.
-
One of the key aspects of G-d, is that he's really keen to do whatever he wants, in ways that we don't understand. For example, when Jesus healed the blind man Jericho, he just said 'you are healed' and he was healed and could see. But then in Galilee, he spit in his eyes. Why did he do that? Who knows. When we talk about sanctification and the holy spirit, I'm not going to say "The Lord does it this way", because I don't know what he's going to do. He likes to surprise us, and do things in odd ways. So that said, I would think... that simply because we no longer see people gathering in rooms, and waiting for the spirit to come down in tongues of fire, to land on people, that it would be my GUESS... that people get the holy spirit at the moment of salvation. So I don't know for certain, but I would just guess that you are right. And by the way, even if you and I are wrong about it, there is no way for us to know who has the Holy Spirit, and who does not. So we might as well assume the best in all, until they prove otherwise. Right?
-
Pray for Cypress Church in Ohio. I can bet that my email to the church's leadership, will be one of many. I hope they gain wisdom from this, and do better. If they turn the church into a political stump, then I will not be able to go there anymore.
-
I'm not sure what this says about my church, but they have decided to not open until mid august. So this was a live online sermon. I was still horrified.
-
No, I'm not. The Church is filled with human beings just like me, that make mistakes all the time, just like me. If it was the senior pastor that preached this, I might have a problem. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, that they didn't know what this guy was going to say. I would want another chance. Wouldn't you?

So what is wrong with me? Zero motivation
LonerAndy replied to LonerAndy's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
You sir, are a model of what a Christian should be. Kicking porn alone, makes you a star. You have no idea how hard that is for most people. Sounds fantastic. Keep walking the path. It may not seem impressive to you, but the fact the Lord has brought you this far, is amazing. -
The best age of a girl to marry to
LonerAndy replied to porton's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Age 25. By the time you are in your mid 30s, you are likely to have a hard time even having a child. In your 20s, as a married woman, you can't hardly trip over a pillow and not get pregnant. But you wait until your mid to late 30s to have kids, and you should not be surprised if you have difficulty getting pregnant. Unless you do not wish to ever have kids, and I would say you should carefully reconsider that. Also, the longer you wait to get married, the harder it is to find a decent man. Just saying upfront, most good men, get married by the time they are 29. The pool starts to empty out by the time you reach 40. Now I don't mean to discourage you, but I am also not going to white wash this. Take me for example. I'm 43, and I'll be single for life, because I'm a train wreck. Not one single man I grew up with in Church, or even out of church to be honest, has not been married for over 10 years. They all got married a decade ago. So just looking at the 'pool of men' in my circle, the only one available is me, and I am a disaster. Does not mean you can't find one. You can. I'm just saying you are likely to have to date a bunch of men, to find that is worth marrying. Fishing is easier at Lake Erie, than at the water run off pond at the church, because Lake Erie has more fish. You can still catch something at the pond, just take a lot more effort. Now I should mention one counter to that. You have to me mentally mature enough to marry. If you are not mentally ready for marriage, then it doesn't matter what your age is. Doesn't matter how amazing a guy you find, that guy is a flawed screwed up human being. He's going to do something that bugs you. The most happy couples on the Earth, still have nights they think they made a mistake. That's just how it is. No man is perfect, and our underware will still stink until you wash it. Same is true of men by the way. No woman will love you perfectly, no matter how attractive wonderful and caring she might be. No one is perfect, and grasping that is the key to marriage. If you can't handle that, stay single. Hope that helps.
