  1. Hello, I am making a cute and portable cloud chamber. The goal is to make a container that has a really cold plate on one side, a warm plate on the other side and to have tons of alcohol vapor between the plates, to see ionizing radiation. I live near an old uranium mine, so I hope that the chamber will look super pretty when I am near it. (I requested permission to enter the mine, I hope it gets accepted) I have to wait until all the parts for it are delivered to me and then I can finish the project. I will link some pictures of pretty particle trails, once I am done
  2. If you are bothered by loud children toys, then you can put tape over the little speaker holes. It will deafen the sound for you but be loud enough to still be engaging for the child
  3. I don´t have proof but I have evidence https://assets.pewresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2015/05/PF_15.05.05_RLS2_1_310px.png https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/religious-family/atheist/
  4. Choosing one thing is hard. Hm. If I had to choose one thing, then it´s genetic evidence. It demonstrates that all life is related to certain degrees, so we can even determine, how closely related we are to other animals. I think that is very convincing. Oh okay. I am an atheists, because I can not find convincing evidence to justify a believe in God. Hmm. I don´t think that the church or christians have an influence on my atheism. Even if christianity, the church and christians were the worst thing ever, then I would still have to accept that God exists, if I had convincing evidence. I might not be a christian, but then I would be a believer in a God. Someone that I like told me that I should not give up praying and studying the Bible, so I kept doing that. No one that I know in real life is a christian, so I felt, like I had no one to talk with about this specific topic. That´s why I tried to search for a christian community online. Another reason why I came here, was because I was really ill the last time I was here and I never felt like I was mentally at my 100%. Every discussion I had felt so incredibly frustrating, because I felt like I could not express myself the way I wanted to. I came back to see how well I perform at discussions, when I feel good.
  5. Hello, I think panspermia is just considered as a possibility, on how life on earth could have started on earth. The beginning of life is not really relevant to evolution in my opinion. Yes I believe that evolution occurs and that the theory of evolution is an accurate model. I met plenty of christians that were really mean to me on this website. I used to be here some time ago, when I was considering to become a christian and some of the people here definitely made it easier for me to remain an atheist
  6. I think many people confuse "anger at the ideology" with "anger at God". I come from a muslim background and I talked with many people that left Islam or Christianity, and there are very common trends among apostates. For example, many of the apostates feel, like their whole family died after they left their religion. Their family members and friends break off contact, they are no longer invited to family reunions, marriages are ruined etc. Usually, the family members suffer as much as the apostates from this social death. Many apostates become incredibly sad and angry, at how certain ideologies ruin their life or make their family feel miserable. Passionate attempts to attack and debunk religions, are often motivated by love and compassion
  7. I don´t care if you pray for him. I am currently doing an experiment where I also try to pray. I just don´t like the misconceptions that many people have about atheists and that they knowingly or unknowingly spread these misconceptions
  8. Do you dislike homosexuality? Or do you just dislike the glorification of homosexuality? I am against most abortions that are performed.
  9. https://assets.pewresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2015/05/PF_15.05.05_RLS2_1_310px.png Hello, how do you feel about the decrease in Christianity and the increase in atheism in the US? Do you think society will become worse, better or stay around the same?
  10. I don´t know if what you just described is the actual left or just a degenerate subgroup of the left. I don´t live in America so I may not be able to relate. However, I always found it weird, that I am often called a facist or racist, because leftis mistake me for a white person.
  11. I consider the left to be people that share the following believes. They believe in social justice and put it over individual justice They believe in a strong government. They believe in market regulations They believe in the redistribution of resources.
  12. Just because the Bible tells you X, does not mean that you are rationally justified to believe X. I think that you use a circular argument. You think that atheists believe in God because its written in the Bible and your reason to believe that Atheists believe in God, is because it´s written in the Bible. I do not think, that circular arguments are a good method to discover the truth. I am an atheist and I can guarantee you that I see no evidence for the existence of any God. My claim goes against your worldview. Now you either have to accept my claim and reevaluate your worldview, or you would have to call me a liar.
  13. I think the best argument against Islam is the fact, that there is no evidence for the existence of Allah or that the Quran is a book from a God. When you point out the lack of evidence, then you usually get one of the three responses: 1. You get an argument from ignorance or something that is structured like this "I/You don´t know how the earth formed, how life formed, how humans formed, how the universe began etc, therefore a God had to exist to create the things that I can not explain". This argument fails, because our ignorance of reality can not be used as an excuse to invent Gods and magic as an explanation for the gaps in our knowledge. Even if a God had to exist to create everything that we know, you will never be able to demonstrate that this God is Allah and not some other God from a different religion, so arguments like these are a complete failure. 2. Another popular "argument" is the appeal to the Quran. The Quran is supposed to be a perfect book from God, that is beautifully written, morally and scientifically perfect. However, this argument fails because the Quran contains scientific mistakes. For example according to the Quran, sperm is produced in the backbone (Sura 86:6-7). The first humans are supposedly created from clay (Sura 32:7-8), ignoring everything we know about evolution and pre homo-sapiens animals. This is scientifically illiterate. A God that is worth his salt, can not be scientifically illiterate. The Quran is also morally corrupt, because it allows sex slavery (Sura 4:23-24) 3. Maybe someone will use Quranic prophecies as evidence for the claim, that Allah is real or that the Quran is a book written by a God. I mean, how can someone write a book with prophecies that were fulfilled 1400 years later? The problem is, that there is not a single specific prophecy in the Quran. Sure, if you are allowed to interpret the Quran, then you will find a ton of prophecies. But I can probably find prophecies in Moby Dick aswell, if I am allowed to use my imagination. A fulfilled prophecy has value only IF, it is specific. A prophecy only has value, if there is a only a single instance, in which that prophecy can be fulfilled. If there are multiple ways to fulfill a single prophecy, then this prophecy is worthless.
  14. I am an atheist and I never met an atheist that was angry at God. I don´t understand, how its possible to be angry at something you don´t believe in. What you talk about is a false stereotype that is pushed by religious people. Many religious people struggle to accept the fact that atheists exists. Instead of accepting reality, they often invent justifications to make them feel more comfortable. Intelligent Design is not supported by evidence. If you have evidence for intelligent design, then please write a science paper and submit it to peer review. If you actually have good evidence for intelligent design, then you will win many prizes, become famous and rich and you will be remembered as one of the most significant scientists.
