I believe the Bible teaches that Christ's bride is elect. I do not believe that we had no beginning. I fail to see how those two beliefs would mesh? Salvation is from the hand of God and it is not a process it is a one-time justification. Sanctification is the process. No matter if a person is Arminian or Calvinist, true Christians believe that all people whether saved or lost, live forever. It seems then that everlasting life doesnt just mean "living forever in eternity" since everyone will anyway.

Added to my original question: Since I know there must be at least one here that believes we as a believer can give up our salvation, or if we are found to have one sin upon us at death, that we will go to judgment and ultimately to the lake of fire. Since God cannot lie and has promised that He will never leave us, nor forsake us is Jesus bound to go with us to the lake of fire and remain with us? I hope you do not believe that. I hope that is rhetorical. We will all die with some sin still in our lives. There are none who are sinless. I am convinced that there is no power in Heaven or on Earth that can pull us from the hand of GOD. Not of angels or of demons. If a person is saved, than they are sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT until te day of redemption. Romans 14:4 ...To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for GOD is able to make him stand. You are right. That reply was rhetorical to illustrate how very impossible it is to assume that Christ would ever forsake a believer. If He made a promise to never leave, nor forsake us I believe Him. Me too!

Orthodox Biblical Christianity has always taught that when you are saved, you will have everlasting life in heaven with the Lord. If you do not repent, you spend eternity in a lake of fire that is never quenched. To teach that the eternal punishment ends, is to go against orthodox belief on the subject.

Don't be silly Floating. Do you honestly think that in the first churches, just because there was no command against it, a Christian woman would choose an unsaved man? My reason for only choosing Christian men is not primarily because there is a verse that says don't be unequally yoked, but because I want a man who follows God! Back then they would have had the same mindset. I fail to see what you are disagreeing with Biblicist on, if you agree that some Christian women will be married to unsaved men and must still submit to them. *asks herself how everyone got so far off the original topic of the thread?*

TORONTO (Reuters) - You won't find the word "religulous" in a dictionary but it's a good bet it will be on protest signs when the documentary of that name, a jab-in-the-eye at Western religion, hits movie theaters in October. The title melds the words "religious" and "ridiculous" and the film, the brainchild of humorist Bill Maher and "Borat" director Larry Charles, pulls no punches in its attack on organized religions and their cultural impact. "Just to question why is faith good, I think is a question never contemplated by most people" in the United States, Maher told Reuters at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the documentary debuted this week. Western religions attacked Maher says " I don't know." That is postmodernism and a more foolish and dangerous mindset I know not of. It says that we must always be searching for the truth yet never claim to have found it.

When someone quotes a well-known preacher or teacher, and uses their own books and sermons to demonstrate that person's unBiblical beliefs, this is right and good. In total contrast Tertullus was a slanderer. Note the difference. Tertullus just said things. The posters in this thread have quoted directly from the people they have issue with, and have even shown you Biblically how these teachers are in error. Floating Axe herself slandered, by her definition of what a "heresy hunter" is, and accused the posters in this thread of being such. Floating, you claim to know that these teachers have wisdom and love from God. Yet you said further that you did not know them. Since you do not know them personally and quotations taken from them are contrary to the Word, there is a problem here.

Wait. There are seriously people in this thread who think God will do nothing in our lives unless a. we have lots of faith, b. we let him, and/or c. we are yielded? Are you guys serious about believing that? Do you realize how deadly that belief is? No matter how you twist it, if you say God will not do anything unless we do either a,b, or c above, then we are in control and not God. As shiloh said it is a direct attack on God's sovereignty. God can, will, and DOES do whatever He pleases no matter our attitude or desire. Often the Spirit chooses to work in a gentle and loving way, yet He is never in submission to what we want. God: - hardened Pharaoh's heart and made him an example - took Nebechadenezzar's sanity from him because of his great pride; and taught him humility. In the end Nebuchadenezzar fell to his knees and proclaimed God as the true and living God - knocked Paul off his horse and told him what he must do and what he would suffer - said to each disciple, "Come and follow me" and they obeyed. Why? because God had spoken - commanded, "Lazarus come forth!" and he came, for God had spoken In the lives of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Caleb, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Matthew, John, Paul, Simon Peter what you do not see is humans being great examples of faith and submission to God, who run after Him pleading for Him to wait for them. What you DO see is God coming to a person and saying you WILL do this, and they do it. Is God a dictator? No, but He IS God and His Word is a command. The amazing thing about it is God promises reward for obedience and He truly loves those He commands. Far be it from us to ever dare say that He is restrained by our faith and obedience; and indeed that is quite impossible for our obedience itself comes from His hand.

Why do i find a consistent pattern of there being one off base or inflammatory person that latches on to every thread and takes people round and round in circles?

Disposable diaper breaks fall, saves child's life
mrs replied to buckthesystem's topic in Weird and Wacky News
why would you have an open unbarred window over top of a sofa with a young child? Thank God for His mercy. -
People, having scanned or read the past 7 pages I have to say : it seems this thread has gone rather off topic and is mainly everyone responding to one person, who doesn't argue his case, and who refuses to give a decent answer when he is pinned on the logical conclusions of his statements. Perhaps we should leave off reasoning with such a one and address the main issue? (Just a thought)
-
Do you see the problem with your logic though? You say essentally: a. A person is not saved by their works BUT b. They can lose eternal life i.e. salvation by not doing works So now you are saying works dont save you but you must do them to STAY saved. That is the same as saying you must do works to BE saved. The Bible is very clear that it is God who saves and God who keeps you saved. Works merely show that you have been regenerated, and that is why James said faith without works is dead. James wasnt adding works to justification as you seem to imply, but rather saying that works SHOW sanctification.

Thats an outrageous statement. I am tired of these ridiculous people with their absurd arguments, who make homosexuality to be on par with a person's skin colour. Therefore they get away with making such ridiculous resolutions. If a religion said it was a sin to be white or black then we would have a problem. But to say a lifestyle is wrong, in no way should call forth such arrogant and over the top comments.

I Thessalonians only teaches that Jesus Christ will return for His church, it doesn't teach a secret rapture. Every Christian believes that Jesus will return for them, this however is different from the belief in a rapture and subsequent tribulation. What the original poster was asking was not whether you believe that Christ will return in power for His Bride, but whether you believe in the specific idea of a secret rapture.

John 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself." Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Joh 6:36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. Joh 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Joh 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. Joh 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. Joh 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. Joh 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. It can not be any clearly than what Jesus says in this passage.

Please study up on church history and doctrines. The doctrines of grace aka the Tulip did not originate from Calvin. In actuality they were drawn up as a point by point response by a large church counsel in their condemnation of some heresy that was being spread in the church.

Thats really quite amazing. Yet it wasn't really all that long ago that Jim Elliot and his friends were martyred attempting to contact the Auca sp Indians.

Church is for believers, who then go out into the world and the lost. We aren't to spend time and effort to draw them in by gimmicks, but share the truth which will truly impact them.

WN: Ministry fined for firing homosexual employee - One News Now
mrs replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in World News
If someone practices something against the religion of a ministry than that ministry has a right to fire them. This is despicable.
