  1. I don't recall it mentioning Baal. It was a golden calf. It could have been an Egyptian god, or made in the pattern of an Egyptian god - that is giving a form to the "god" they claimed as God. Look in verse 5 and see whom Aaron proclaimed a feast to, when they would worship the golden calf: Exo 32:1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. 3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. Ugh. To say the least.
  2. Is it true that the bright colors in a tattoo always eventually turn dull green?
  3. I thought of this: Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
  4. It's my understanding that what upset the Pharisees about the disciples plucking and eating the wheat on the Sabbath was not that their hands were not washed; it was that they were 'reaping' grain - and rubbing the chaff away probably was 'threshing' as well. As for the OP, we do know that one of the disciples was known as Simon the Zealot - but that was more of a political nickname, I believe.
  5. What's a bruka ? I'm pretty sure that other one meant 'burka'.
  6. Nitpicking alert... It's 'for all intents and purposes' please. Just to let you know. Nitpicking done. Carry on. Thanks. Do you teach english? Homeschooling mom. Also aspiring author. You don't want to see me pull out the red pencil...
  7. and I went I mean, if we Gentiles have no part in that covenant and therefore Sabbath-keeping is not for Gentiles - what about the rest of the 10 Commandments? Is it ok for Gentiles to steal and kill and lie and covet and commit adultery? Feeling a bit freaked out here... hi Sheya joie, all men are under moral obligation to rest one day out of seven, but the sabbath day the Jews keep is not mandatory to Christians who are free to choose a diferent day, and many of whom live on the other side of the world making it literally impossible to keep. Remember it is sundown to sundown or 6pm to 6 pm on the seventh day but that would not be the seventh day that God is watching on the other side of the world. Jesus points out that the Preists work on the sabbath, and so also Pastors today rest on another day other than the common day observed by the congregation. The 4th commandment is kept in spirit and truth by those who rest from their labours and join in fellowship one day out of every seven, that is why scripture says "let no man judge you concerning days" As for the other 9 they too are kept by Christians but not as part of the old covenant. I hope this helps Actually, I was (and still am) hoping that Uncle Abee would come back and address my concern there.
  8. :24: I think there's an emote for that . . . . I thought that was only for puking.... Ask wyguy; he's used the emote in question here before... In the meantime, hide Slim Whitman!

  10. I was wondering what speed changes you're referring to here as well.
  11. Hey! *glaring about* <-- is Irish (at least in part) <-- is also tall BTW, there are Wilchers in my family tree. I've often wondered if that name came from 'shire' - or for that matter, from 'Welsh.'
  12. But... if the woman's covering is her hair and not something extra such as a cloth, so that having long hair means she's praying with her head covered... Then why do men take off their hats when they pray? Is that praying with their heads uncovered? In other words, if a man takes off his hat to pray with his head uncovered (in obedience to the Scripture), does that mean a woman would put something on her head to pray with her head covered (in obedience to the Scripture)?
  13. Ok, I must not be understanding. I got as far as this: and I went I mean, if we Gentiles have no part in that covenant and therefore Sabbath-keeping is not for Gentiles - what about the rest of the 10 Commandments? Is it ok for Gentiles to steal and kill and lie and covet and commit adultery? Feeling a bit freaked out here...
  14. http://www.mediamat....ducts_x-4d.html It's not my cup of tea, but as I understand if you like haunted houses, this one at Branson Mo. is something special. http://castleofchaosbranson.com/ select the word "experience" to get a very short example. So 5-D is a 3-D show enhanced with shaking seats???
  15. Well, being myself a couple of months older than anita, I can say that I'm finding that a lot of those white-haired gentleman look mighty good lately!

  17. If Texas is on Ted's list, shouldn't Hawaii be as well?
  18. Adam's sin was paid for on the cross. We have been redeemed from the curse of the law (spiritual death/separation from God), but we have not been redeemed from the curse of the law. We still die because we are yet awaiting the redemption of our bodies. I don't understand the bolded part above. Is there possibly a typo in it? It seems to say that we both have been AND have NOT been redeemed from the same thing?
  19. This makes me wonder has Mr. Neeson read all seven Narnia books - in particular, The Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle. Who the Calormen represent, and therefore who their god Tash represents, are very plain in those books - making it plain that Aslan could not be representing Mohammed by any stretch of the imagination. For that matter - the first three Narnia books have been filmed, but what of the later books? I don't remember any group that started out making Narnia films ever progressing beyond the fourth book, The Silver Chair. Given the kinds of protests Muslims have made over cartoons and such lately, can The Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle be made without stirring up the wrath of Muslims? Or what if the film company decides to total rewrite the Calormen and Tash to make them no longer so obviously Muslim - what will Christians do about that?
  20. It's kind of odd then that creationists have to come up with models that are so obviously flawed to even try and demonstrate this don't you think? Do you find it disturbing at all that the model you presented predicts all rabbit populations should die off within a few hundred years? Or does the fact that Mendel's Accountant doesn't do anything close to modeling reality simply get swept away into some forgetful nook? Lurker You think this theory is unrealistic and yet you believe wholeheartedly in a tiny segment of a jawbone that proves beyond doubt that man descended from amoeba? Lurker, you need to open your mind and get up off your knees....worshipping the TOE has made you blind to anything else. MG, that abbreviation TOE threw me for a loop for a second - I thought, 'What? is he down on his knees worshiping his own toe (on his foot)????' But then it dawned on me that TOE meant Theory Of Evolution. *whew* As for this part, Lurker: I kinda thought that was the point? That, according to the computer model, things that are still here couldn't have continued to be here for vast thousands of years? Having said all that (and being a Young Earther to boot), I still would like to know just what assumptions were plugged into that computer model. Just because a computer model reports a particular outcome, doesn't necessarily make it accurate.

  22. My teen aged daughter asked why show the President as a Hindu god - didn't they always used to show someone who has too much to do as an octopus?
  23. One thing I thought of, and wondered if there might be a connection, is the recent embarrassment of a Chinese sub popping up in the middle of a US Naval exercise. Remember that?
  24. Ron, guess I'm as dim as Jethro, 'cause I just can't figure it out - what are Pasadena Berries???
