  1. I'm in South Africa. On the satellite we receive God TV, CBN, JTV, Daystar and something else, we also receive 2 different isalm channels. They constantly babble about nothing and sometimes play reruns of Jesus vs Islam debates of the 80's. I've seen a few and noted how blinded the muslims are. It is actually very very sad to see people (created in God's image) being so blind and resisting Jesus consciously! RedWolf: thanx for that article. I've seen on the 700 club an interview with a woman who was a Muslim but couldn't stand the abuse any longer. The muslim community labels her as an infidel. So she wrote a book titled "infidel". Unfortunately she's not a Christian now. She denounce any god, because of her experience with people who believed in a god (the muslim god) Can you see that Christianity vs Islam is as old as Abraham? Descendants of Isaac vs Descendants of Ishmael? Seed of free woman vs seed of slave woman?
  2. Hi all. I would really love to hear your opinions on this. In South Africa we have several Christian TV channels available and only two Muslim channels that I'm aware of. I've watched a few debates on one of those Muslim/Islam channels. All of those debates were about Christianity vs Islam. eg. Is Jesus Christ God? Is the Bible the Word of God? Both intances it was sheiks challenging pastors. What I've noted (even when speaking to Muslims) when you ask them about their faith, they will never give you a straight answer. They will always turn the focus onto Christianity, explaining what Christians believe, and then simply say "Islam is not that." Instead of defending or explaining their faith they would rather criticize Christianity. If you've seen debates of "sheik ahmed deedat" vs some Christian preacher you'll know exactly what I mean. He never answered a question directed at Islam/Muslim, but always rendered back an attack at Christianity, some times challenging our intellect. Why is it that a Muslim can never describe his faith to a Christian? I've even been to Muslim websites and they just compare it to Christianity. Never a clear cut straight answer! What are they so afraid of?
  3. Always. I especially want to be ready when God wants to reveal something to me through His Word while I engage in worship with the rest of the brothers and sisters. God speaks to me through His Word most of the times.
  4. Just a thought: I anyone was born an atheist, why does everyone have the inherent capacity and need to worship or bow down to something? Why then is there so many idols in this world? From Buddah to the golden calf Aaron moulded to materialism (money, stuff, etc...)
  5. I agree with this. Some use the word "Jehovah" which is considered a misinterpretation of "YHWH" . YHWH is also written without vowels because it is so sacred and when pronouncing the word it is almost the sound of expiration breath. I believe its the Psalmist who says God is the LORD of Lords. Old English text used to address a man as lord out of sign of respect. Thus speaking of God as LORD and not Lord makes the distinguish
  6. I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I'm want to download an Amplified Bible to my cellphone. I have a Sony Ericsson K800i. Does anyone know of a website that provides Bible downloads?
  7. Spurgeon, however, defended the Gospel. The quote he was using is that, though people may attack the Gospel, the Gospel will win the day. He was responding to liberal theologians that were saying the problems of the world are psychological and social problems and the Gospel was outdated. Someone asked him to write a defense of the Gospel in light of this, basically, how the Bible does meet those psychological needs. Spurgeon offered this quote as a response. He is not saying we should not engage in apologetics (after all, he did) or defend the Gospel (after all, he did)...but instead that the Gospel stands on its own and does not need to fit into any box.

    Fasting

Isaiah 58 The only chapter I can find on fasting
  9. It may be Ray Comfort's accent that may come across as arrogant. They don't defend the Gospel, rather they release it. I think it was Charles Spurgeon who said: "The Gospel is like a caged lion; it needs no defense. It just needs to be let lose." And I believe that is exactly what they do. I haven't enrolled in any of the courses, but I surely have watched numerous episodes of The Way of the Master on TBN. Some people I've talked to says they don't like the way Kirk and Ray evangelize, because it works repentance through guilt. I believe the opposite. I believe their intention is to work repentance through the fear of God. Go to www.wayofthemaster.com and watch the one2one video clips and deside for yourself. I bought some of their gospel tracts and find it quite effective.
  10. Thanx for this post. It is so difficult to lay down one's life. I work at a trauma unit and it is so difficult to surrender my life for the purpose of God's Kingdom. We've seen a few patients tonight that I know I should've evangelize to, but I find it so difficult. In a way I am afraid to. I know I shouldn't be, because God is stronger and bigger and better. He defeated even death, so why am I afraid?
  11. I can't remember exactly who said it, either Wesley or Spurgeon, but he said "The Gospel is like a caged lion. It doesn't need to be defended. It only needs to be let out (or let loose)!"
  12. I would suggest watching these programs/movies with your kids and afterwards ask them what they thought of it. use this as a means to make sure the devil don't play around in their minds, leading them astray. We don't always know the intensions of the people who write these stories. But as we know by now, our battle isn't against flesh, but against principalities and high powers... (I think the verse I'm looking for here is found in either Ephesians or Galatians.) Just a suggestion...
  13. Just to let you all know, I've stood my ground and everything worked out just fine. They sent someone home on Thursday morning to work Thursday evening, and phoned me to know if I can work Friday dayshift. PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!!
  14. I started working for them in 2003 full-time. Then in 2005 went to another company until end 2006, during which I still worked part time for them. Since the beginning of this year I've started working on a more regular basis for them, but mostly dayshift. It's only the last few months I'm working nightshift. At this stage the trauma unit is my only job, though it is only part-time. And yes, I am willing to give up my job if it comes to that. I know who is my Source. I have a commitment honouring God with the musical talent He gave me, and as far as possible I will attend every band practice session. And if they really wanted somebody who is there when needed, they would've employed someone long time ago. I was gone for 2 years and they still hasn't fill my position. I don't know if they can't find any one, or if they just don't want to. O, getting back to the point "I know who is my Source" : I need to give God praise here. Since December 2006 I haven't had permanent employment but God took care of me every month. He gave unto me more than I earned in my last permanent position. I've been living off His grace for 6 months now! I know He takes care of those who love Him. I know the plans He has for me and I know He'll give me a permanent employment soon.
  15. ALL QUOTES FROM NIV 1 Corinthians 6:9 "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders..." 1 Corinthians 6:12 "Everything is permissible for me"
  16. Thanx D! Never thought about it that way. But my first (and final) decision is to stick with what I said. Just needed to test my attitude and intensions. You're right. "Simply let your Yes be Yes, and your No be No" the Bible says. And if I give in the problem is going to persist. Rather some discomfort now than a major headache later. God Bless!!
  17. Hi All! I have a challange at work. I already know what I'm going to do, but I just want to measure my intentions here. Currently I have a part-time employment at a Trauma Unit. When I started working here I told those responsible for the shift roster that on Tuesdays I'm at the Academy at church till 9pm and on Thursdays I have band practice at church, also till 9pm. Those evenings are non-negotiable for me. Currently I only work nightshift at the Trauma Unit and our shift hours are from 7pm till 7am. I told them that should they have a problem in finding people to work on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, they can book me for those evenings, but I will only commence shift after 9pm yet before 10pm because of my non-negotiables. For about 2months things went okay and they regularly booked me for Tuesday and Thursday evenings taking into account my non-negotiables. Last night the boss had a fit because of this. I reminded her about my arrangement, to which she asked that I should not accept another shift on either Tuesdays or Thurday evenings. Now I'm booked for tomorrow night (on which I have band practice till 9pm). I've cancelled my shift yesterday, yet told them that if they don't find anyone to work I'll be more than glad to come to work, but after 9pm. Tonight I've received a message that there is no one to work. They can't find anyone. If there is no one to fill this shift the unit will be in total chaos! They are not willing for me to come in after 9pm and request that I cancel band practice. Now I have 2 options. 1. I stick to my word, cancel my shift and still go to band practice (which is a non-negotiable), leaving them with the frustration of finding someone to fill my shift. (There is no one!!! They don't want to employ extra permanent staff and don't want any other part-time employee to work alone except me) Maybe then they'll wake up, see the problem (challenge) and do something about it! or 2. I cancel bandpractice and come to work at 7pm as it should be, and let the challenge persist. Any advice? What do you feel I should do? What does Holy Spirit tell you? Is there any alternatives?
  18. yeah, we Christians tend to only seek blessing scripture and disregard warning scripture. There's a scripture in the NT (Msg) that says God is kind yet firm. God loves us with His all but when we're disobedient He'll take us by the arm, pull us aside and say "Listen son, this is not the way..." As a loving father disiplines his children, BECAUSE HE LOVES THEM, likewise God will disipline us because He loves us. He clearly warns us against the things that will produce death and in love we need to hear it! We as brothers in Christ need to correct each other in a loving way. Solomon also says that a friend will correct but an enemy will flatter you with his words.
  19. Ezekiel 38 A Prophecy Against Gog 1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army
  20. From reading Galathians I get the idea that Jew and Christian are descendants through Isaac and Islam is descendants from Ishmael. Ishmael born from the slave woman (Hagar) by natural birth But Isaac born of the promise from the barren woman (Sarah, also known as the free woman) by spiritual birht because of this promise

  22. Ever watched "The devil wears prada" with a Christian point of view? YES FAITH LIKE POTATOES IS AN AWESOME MOVIE! And Yes, it is South African. I'm South African and although we can't actually make movies as in Hollywood, this one is really worth it! And it is True!
  23. I would but my original might not. I think if he doesn't know it is from a clone he probably will?

    Original sin

The whole truth is that God had planned our salvation from BEFORE the foundation of the world. All men were born of Adam and Eve. Through this bloodline we inherited the nature from them. All of mankind inherited the sinful nature!!! But God has no grandsons. God is my Dad and Jesus my Big Brother. God is my daughter's Dad and Jesus is her Big Brother. If we invite Christ into our lives and give our lives to Him we receive a new bloodline: the inheritance of God's Spirit. Then we are born of the Spirit, not of earthly descend anymore! Though we are still in the flesh, in surrender to God we are free from the effects of the flesh. Christ died for sins as well as for our inequities.
  25. I belive we do. John 4 were Jesus speak to the Samaritan woman, He gives her law. Nicodemus asking Jesus, He gives him law. By law, I mean the 10 Commandments
