They can't predict tomorrow's high temperature - they sure can't predict ANYTHING about the climate in 20 years. (In 1974 they were predicting a new ice age - I wonder what scare they'll have for us next?)

I think it's kinda creepy that you can look at the beauty of the moon and see something sinister.

Leona Helmsley Leaves $12 Million to Her Dog

Your last 3 posts are awesome !!!! If anyone wonders what my posts really meant - read Eliyahuw's last 3 posts - my thoughts exactly. (And I too, have some experiences similar to yours). -
Leona Helmsley Leaves $12 Million to Her Dog

My point exactly! But you said she should have given to her grandkids and I asked several questions about her relationship with them (which you implied you had knowledge of). Are you going to answer my questions or not? (Actually, forget it. Gotta run and won't be back till late tomorrow.) -

I suspect your post was really about this statement, so I will address it alone. 12 million dollars can't do a thing about human suffering. Look at the BILLIONS we'v given in aid to other countries - and look at the suffering that continues. Human suffering isn't caused by a lack of western money - it's caused by OTHER HUMAN BEINGS. But again, tell us about her relationship with those grandkids - tell us why she should leave them money. (You skimmed over my questions, were they too hard?) -

And two got plenty! So, since you OBVIOUSLY are our resident know-it-all, please tell us about how those two grandkids treated her. Spell out for us the relationship between each 'child' and Leona. Go ahead, I mean, since you have passed judgement on her, you must know more than the rest of us. -

Or the one who made her feel loved the most. -
His lawyers would later argue the boy had been a victim of "involuntary intoxication," since Pittman's doctors had him taking the antidepressants Paxil and Zoloft just prior to the murders. BINGO!

I hope this hasn't been recently discussed, but here we go.... I got this from someone's sigline, sorry, can't find who it was now, but it was on this site. Anyway, I think this idea is way too extreme: that all birth control is wrong! I surely agree with the site about abortion. I don't even like "The Pill", but I think that sterilization is fine. Have a read. If it's too long to read, just go down to "Hard Cases" and read to the end. The 'best' of what I take to be sillyness is there. Hard Cases Much more difficult to discuss is the occasional "hard case" wherein, for example, the wife almost dies in birth and is counseled by a doctor against getting pregnant again. Her husband, as an act of protection for his wife and an exercise of dominion over her health and his family's future, chooses to avoid pregnancy. Is this acceptable, or is this sin? The following principles would seem to apply: 1) God is still in charge, and none of his children will die apart from his will.... 2) God does have special grace for women in the process of bearing children.... 3) Any measure of "control" the couple seek to exercise should be through abstinence (as above). Measures that alter the body or render the sex act sterile are never appropriate. By submitting to God's plan for sexual relations the couple will be within God's will and will be open to his plan if he should choose to overrule their efforts. 4) The couple must have a humble heart that is ready to acknowledge that any decision of theirs may be wrong and the Lord has a better way. If there is fear in their hearts, they should confess it and ask for grace to trust him and wisdom to know how he wants them to proceed. Seems almost cult-ish to me. Must we all live as third-worlders to be "good Christians"? Think of the standard of living we'd have if every family had so many children!

It sure is exciting to look at the world after being saved - you DO see everything differently! However... I will take a different path in responding to you than others have. I find the above list interesting. Thunderstorms - a naturally occurring weather event that is actually nessesary in some ways. Satan does not drive thunderstorms, the sun does. (Somewhat indirectly, but it does.) UFO stories - just that, stories. UFO's are not visitors from other worlds, they are not visitors from our future, they are simply stories. There is not one shred of PHYSICAL evidence that we have EVER been visited. Satan's influence on this planet IS kinda strong and effective, but I don't need to look at UFO sillyness to see it. I can see it in the drug trade, violent Islam, and in everyday evil such as the abuse of children and the elderly that goes on every day. Paranormal Phenomena - again, sillyness. I would suggest you not divert your attention to this kind of stuff. You won't understand or change the world by trying to determine if a statue of Mary is crying (it isn't, by the way.) And if you really want to understand spiritual matters or the mind of God - go sit with your Bible for 1/2 hour a day. Every day.

You can't have a solar eclipse without a new moon. This is REAL basic astronomy. A new moon means that the moon is between us and the sun, in a line. An eclipse means that the three bodies are almost EXACLTY in a row. Nothing more. EDIT: Oh, should read the thread first, I see that the question was answered twice already.

Not always. My son was born with mental illness - my dad's mom had similar mental problems and the doctors attest that there is a genetic ingredient to the disorder. I DO believe that demonic forces can give someone a problem that looks like a mental illness, but any mentally ill person I have met - and I have known several (friends of my son), were obviously not demon possesed. I agree. Interstellar travel makes good science fiction, but it is not science. I do not believe that ANY alien abduction or contact is real, anymore than I believe that a "magician" can make the "Jack of Spades" into "The Queen of Hearts" by casting his hand over a deck of cards!

I carry a .357 revolver everywhere I go. (I let my permit expire last december, but you only need that in Georgia if you carry outside your home, car or business. There are several guns here at work.) I have pulled my gun on someone twice since 2000. Both were mugging attempts - but as soon as they saw the gun, they simply could NOT run fast enough! Sure, I carry a gun - I am NOT going to respond from a position of weakness when confronted with a threat against me.

Now THAT is nonsense.

The wisdom of Dr. Williams almost knows no bounds. Probably comes from being a long-time Christian and bible reader.

Most of us here have strong beliefs, and we all beleive we are right. So to say, "I'll pray for you, that God will show you..." is perfectly fine. Isn't it? I mean, sure, it CAN be insulting, but IS it ALWAYS insulting? I don't think so.

Your Tax Dollars at Work: What IS that smell?
Pizzaguy replied to Marnie's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
"Global Warming" or "Climate Change" as it's now called, is more about money and less about "the environment". And that's always been the case. -
How do you KNOW it was meaningful? The sleeping mind is a mess ! I think you had the dream BECAUSE of "having a hard time lately"; it may be simply your mind, responding to the events of the day. Perhaps God did try to communicate with you thru a dream, I can't say for sure, but I do know that He has never done so with me. My first thought is that, like all other dreams, this one was made up by your own mind. Perhaps you should focus on WHY you'v been having such a hard time lately. I too have been having frustrations lately and believe it's God's way of telling me that it's time to move on in my career. (I kept praying that things would get better, but then realized that MAYBE God was trying to get thru to me. I have two interviews in the next week - only because I made up my mind to look elsewhere for work.) It's hard to say, knowing nothing about you and your life - but - Please consider what I'v said!!!

My favorite are those chocolate covered peanut butter things. I can't say no to a cute little girl OR boy - and I never do say no. Scouting was possibly the most valuable part of raising my sons; they were taught countless lessons, the social outlet brought great benefits for both the boys and myself, and the memories made last a lifetime. Of course, I attended every meeting with my sons, parents who use Scouting as a method of "Taking a break from my own kids" short change both themselves and their kids, and miss most of the point of the program.

Well, at least it WAS a space craft, unlike most UFO's - which are aircraft.

In the bolded, italicized section, you "make up your own definition" with "no matter how I define the phrase" she is not a hatemonger. I changed my phrase to please you and you STILL aren't happy! Your argument is weak, not an AH, but a statement of my position.
-
A Nazi? Not sure. Hitler sure preached hate of the Jews, so I guess he'd be a "hatemonger", but I would'nt use that term, as I think such a term is "political speech for the short bus".... And Phelps? He's a KOOK trying to make a name for himself.
-
Just think of the mistake Christian people make by supporting a person like Mrs. Edwards. "I am completely comfortable with Gay marriage." <-- Don't stand too close to me, Mrs. Edwards!
-
Your objection has been noted. Ok, then she's not a hatemonger - no matter how I define the phrase. I cannot answer for the fact that you make up definitions to fit your (weak minded) arguments. So now you tell us that Ann wants all liberals to be sent to prison.... after someone blows that argument out of the water, what will you come back with then? Is your thought process here anywhere close to the technique you use to read or interpret scripture?
