  1. Oh- this is how you find the Poetry Club. You go to the front page with the index of all the forums. Then you scroll down a ways and near the bottom you will see Worthy Clubs. It is the one that says,"Songs of Praise Poetry Club." Hope to see you there. And thanks again.
  2. Good news! By the grace of God, I have been feeling more encouraged lately. The kindness of folks here has had a lot to do with that. Thanks to you who have cared and reached out to minister to me through this thread. I hope my poem is ministering to some out there who need it. A poetry club has begun recently here at Worthy and I am blessed to be a part of that. I have posted 2 originals that I wrote so far. We also can post others poems and lyrics that are from Christian songs...as long as we post who wrote them. I invite all of you to stop by the club and read them...even if you don't write poems. If you do, you are welcome to join and share them. If you don't, you could still join and post song lyrics. The theme is praise. GBU all.
  3. I am so touched by what you wrote!! I have tears in my eyes. It takes me back to when I was teen and a new Christian. I was so exuberant for Jesus. He was my everything! I couldn't get enough of spending time with Him. But as I got older and hardships came fast and furious, things changed. It was "losing my first love", as the Bible puts it. I am finally coming out of the dark tunnel I was in far too long. Christians at Worthy like yourself have played a part in this. I am inspired by that very encouraging message you took the time to give me. You shared your heart!! It means more to me than I can express. Knowing someone cares really does help counter that worthless feeling. Please read my update below, which I will be typing next. God bless you!
  4. Praising Jesus with you! There is nothing I want more than to use poetry for the glory of God and the uplifting of others. Please read update below, which I will be posting shortly.
  5. Thank you. That is kind of you. Intercessory prayers for one another are so important in the body of Christ! Please read my update below, which I will be posting shortly.
  6. This is a poem I wrote just today, 6-29-18 It was inspired by the pretty summer surroundings and especially the sounds that were so serene. God's Orchestra There is music in creation that no band could ever play The chorus of the robin song, The trees that gently sway from breezes rustling through their leaves, The babbling of the brook; God's orchestra is playing and it's everywhere I look.

  7. That's a good point. It is best to turn to God right away for help to prevent caving in to sin (which is notorious for bringing us heartache, in addition to grieving God's Holy Spirit.) A good scripture promise on this is: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

  9. I love this! Can't help getting excited about it. I feel there is unity and a helpful attitude here in this thread. Keep up the good work, everybody. God bless you all. (As the old song says, "And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love.") And this a very practical and needful topic to discuss. Thanks, appy!
  10. Wow! Thanks. I'm going to click on those links and check those out now.
  11. First off, good topic GreyDestiny! Over the course of my life, I have often applied this scripture to not discussing sacred things with unbelievers. Especially those who you know to be so hostile to God that they will only respond in a blasphemous way. There is nothing to be gained in this other than hearing His precious Name taken in vain. "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:14 This being said, we must still share the gospel. But if someone is continually resistant we have to shake the dust off our feet and move on to those whose hearts are open.
  12. "In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. When I think of God I think of so many wonderful attributes! The scriptures (along with daily life) reveal them. For example: kindness, compassion, longsuffering, mercy, grace, truth "But thou, O Lord, art a God of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth." Psalms 86:15 "The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy." Psalms 145:8 I underlined the attributes of God that come to mind for emphasis.
  13. I've never seen an acrostic poem before now. Really neat! And to the message of your poem I say a heartfelt
  14. Pause, my soul! Adore and wonder! Ask, “Oh, why such love to me?” Grace hath put me in the number Of the Saviour’s family: Hallelujah! Thanks, eternal thanks to thee. By C. H. Spurgeon

  15. Lyrics from a song by the late Keith Green whose songs have been an inspiration to many. They range from convicting to seeking God's Face to worshipful. Prayer songs are akin to praise songs or complementary to them. Hope this song blesses you...both in lyrics (and if you should chance to actually hear it.) Make My Life A Prayer To You Make my life a prayer to You I wanna do what You want me to No empty words and no white lies No token prayers no compromise I wanna shine the light You gave Through Your Son You sent to save us From ourselves and our despair It comforts me to know You're really there Well, I wanna thank You now For being patient with me Oh, it's so hard to see When my eyes are on me I guess I'll have to trust And just believe what You say Oh, you're coming again Coming to take me away I wanna die and let You give Your life to me so I might live And share the hope You gave me The love that set me free I wanna tell the world out there You're not some fable or fairy tale That I've made up inside my head You're God the Son and You've risen from the dead by Keith Green - Make My Life A Prayer To You Lyrics

  16. After reading the poem "Liberty Bell" by Yowm, it made me think of another powerful poem in the same vein. It is written by a man of our generation who was a modern day man after God's own heart by the name of Keith Green. He died at the young age of 28 but his life left an impact on the decades that have followed. If you're familiar with his ministry and music you already know what I mean. If not, you may find his songs both convicting and worshipful. Some think this song may be inspired by the evangelist (and founder of the Salvation Army) William Booth's powerful sermon "A Vision Of The Lost" It is rich with metaphors. It's well worth reading, imo. The story is about the lost souls drowning and the Christians standing safely on the rocks not even helping them. A clip from it: "So will you who still linger on the bank, thinking and singing and praying about the poor perishing souls, lay aside your shame, your pride, your cares about other people’s opinions, your love of ease and all the selfish loves that have kept you back for so long, and rush to the rescue of this multitude of dying men and women?" William Booth ---------------------------------------------- Keith Green – Asleep In The Light lyrics Do you see, do you see All the people sinking down? Don't you care, don't you care? Are you gonna let them drown? How can you be be so numb Not to care if they come? You close your eyes And pretend the job's done. "Oh bless me Lord, bless me Lord" You know it's all I ever hear. No one aches, no one hurts. No one even sheds one tear. But he cries, he weeps, he bleeds And he cares for you needs And you just lay back And keep soaking it in! Oh can't you see it's such sin? 'cause He brings people to your door And you turn them away As you smile and say "God bless you, be at peace" And all heaven just weeps 'cause Jesus came to you door. You've left him out on the streets! Open up open up And give yourself away. You see the need, you hear the cries So how can you delay? God's calling and you're the one But like Jonah you run. He's told you to speak But you keep holding it in. Oh can't you see it's such sin? The world is sleeping in the dark That the church just can't fight 'cause it's asleep in the light. How can you be so dead When you've been so well fed? Jesus rose from the grave And you, you can't even get out of bed! Oh, Jesus rose from the dead. Come on get out of your bed. How can you be so numb Not to care if they come? You close your eyes And pretend the job's done. You close your eyes And pretend the job's done. Don't close your eyes. Don't pretend the jobs done. "come away, come away, come away with me my love. Come away, come away, come away with me my love."
  17. Thanks! These are words of wisdom I needed to hear. Sometimes the devil plays tricks on me and I become confused. I must get back to basics and the 103 rd psalm where it says in verse 14, 'For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust." I made a poor judgement call which resulted in my straining myself. Satan twisted it into God punishing me.
  18. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me." Genesis 4:14
  19. Updates to those who upheld me in prayer: I did go to a doctor and the Xrays showed a lot of arthritis in my spine. But there is a suspicion that I could have a pinched nerve from the injury that is causing the weird, painful feelings ( like when you hit your funny bone and it's far from funny! ) in my left fingers and elbow/wrist. It can be caused by something called the ulnar nerve being compressed and cause a condition similar to carpal tunnel syndrome. Only mine is called cubital tunnel syndrome. I have lack of proper sensation in that hand now so can not grip! It is becoming harder to use and weakening. Please keep praying.
  20. I'm glad you don't believe God is punishing me. Nerve problems are awful indeed. I have been experiencing various neurological issues for the last 12 years now. Sadly, the doctors all say no cure and won't commit to helping me. I was on pills most of those years and finally had to withdraw. So the last thing I needed now was a nerve injury. By the way, I've been reading some of your posts and I'm truly sorry for what you are going through (both the suffering in your body and family issues.) I'll pray for you.
  21. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I just wanted you to know it helped a great deal to hear someone say this was not the Lord punishing me.
  22. Sorry it has taken this long to reply. Thanks for the comforting message! It gives me encouragement and hope.
  23. Yep. I have heard sermons that seemed to be custom made for me. But then I realized there is no such thing as a mind reader so it couldn't be the pastor but instead must be the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
  24. Wow! That's a stumper. I couldn't find it. But whoever does, could you please tell me where that is at in the Bible? Thanks.
