  7. I guess this weather pattern started in Sept. 2008 when the remnant of hurricane Ike hit the city. Most all of Jefferson county was without power for at least aweek, some parts of the county a lot longer. And then we had Jan. 2009 when the worst ice and snow stom hit the city. What made matters worst was that all of the damage from the wind storm of 2008 had not been cleaned up. And it's still not cleaned up. Then we had July 2009. For the first time since 1871 we did not hit 90 the whole month. We had 29 days of cloudy or partly cloudy days. We also had over 6" of rain for the month. Another record. And then Tue. Aug. 4, 2009 another record. Up to 7.50 inches of rain in one hour. This is the most rain in this time period since 1879. The wind storm and the ice storm was bad but they cannot compare to "The Flood Of 2009" as it's now called. On the U of L campus over 20 buildings were flooded. 30 horses had to be rescued at Churchhill Downs. One race track was washed away, the Kentucky Derby Museum was destroyed. the damaged to the museum alone is in the millions. The Louisville animal shehter was hit hard. One dog and 12 cats and kittens were lost. One of our major trama centers was shut down and over 200 patients had to be moved to other hospitals. Millons of dollars of damaged was done at the main branch of the library when the basement flooded. City officials cannot estimate the damaged to homes in the west end of Louisville. The one bright spot is that no one was killed or injured. We can thank God for this. Is this this just a strange weather pattern or is God telling us something?

John 3:1-3 (King James Version) 1 John 3 1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure

  12. Believe it or not: For those who have served on jury...this one is something to think about...Just when you think you have heard everything!! Do you like to read a good murder mystery? Not even Law and Order would attempt to capture this mess. This is an unbelievable twist of fate!!!! At the 1994 annual awards dinner given for Forensic Science, (AAFS)President, Dr. Don Harper Mills astounded his audience with the legal complications of a bizarre death. Here is the story: On March 23, 1994...... The medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus, and concluded that he died from a shotgun wound to the head. Mr. Opus had jumped from the top of a ten-story building Intending to commit suicide.. He left a note to the effect indicating his despondency. As he fell past the ninth floor, his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast passing through a window, which killed him instantly. Neither the shooter nor the deceased was aware that a safety net had been installed just below the eighth floor level to protect some building workers and that Ronald Opus would not have been able to Complete his suicide the way he had planned. The room on the ninth floor, where the shotgun blast emanated, was occupied by an elderly man and his wife. They were arguing vigorously and he was threatening her with a shotgun! The man was so Upset that when he pulled the trigger, he completely missed his wife, and the pellets went through the window, Striking Mr. Opus. When one intends to kill subject 'A' but kills subject 'B' in the attempt, one is guilty of the murder of subject 'B.' When confronted with the murder charge, the old man and his wife were both adamant, and both said that they thought the shotgun was not loaded. The old man said it was a long-standing habit to threaten his Wife with the unloaded shotgun. He had no intention to murder her. Therefore the killing of Mr. Opus appeared to be An accident; that is, assuming the gun had been accidentally loaded. The continuing investigation turned up a witness who saw the old couple's son loading the shotgun about six weeks prior to the fatal accident.. It transpired that the old lady had cut off her son's Financial support and the son, knowing the propensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun With the expectation that his father would shoot his mother. Since the loader of the gun was aware of this, he was guilty of the murder even though he didn't actually pull the trigger. The case now becomes one of murder on the part of the son for the death of Ronald Opus. Now comes the exquisite twist... Further investigation revealed that the son was, in fact, Ronald Opus. He had become increasingly despondent over the failure of his attempt to engineer his mother's Murder. This led him to jump off the ten-story building on March 23rd, only to be killed by a shotgun blast passing through the ninth story window. The son, Ronald Opus, had actually murdered himself. So the medical examiner closed the case as a suicide. A true story from Associated Press

  14. The First Amendment: Establishment of religion Main article: Establishment Clause of the First Amendment The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a national religion by the Congress or the preference of one religion over another, non-religion over religion, or religion over non-religion. Originally, the First Amendment only applied to the federal government. Subsequently, under the incorporation doctrine, certain selected provisions were applied to states. It was not, however, until the middle and later years of the twentieth century that the Supreme Court began to interpret the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses in such a manner as to restrict the promotion of religion by state governments. For example, in the Board of Education of Kiryas Joel Village School District v. Grumet, 512 U.S. 687 (1994), Justice David Souter, writing for the majority, concluded that "government should not prefer one religion to another, or religion to irreligion". Free exercise of religion Main article: Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment In Sherbert v. Verner, 374 U.S. 398 (1963), the Warren Court applied the strict scrutiny standard of review to this clause, holding that a state must show a compelling interest in restricting religion-related activities. In Employment Division v. Smith, 494 U.S. 872 (1990), the Supreme Court retreated from this standard, permitting governmental actions that were neutral regarding religion. The Congress attempted to restore this standard by passing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, but in City of Boerne v. Flores, 521 U.S. 507 (1997), the Supreme Court held that such an attempt was unconstitutional regarding state and local government actions (though permissible regarding federal actions).

  22. it's only a "lose" for us when they are released alive. These murderers should be the ones who lose/lose their freedom or their life. dear american patriot, i understand how you could feel this way. it's a hard thing. however, as we grieve for the loss of our american liberties, we can't lose sight that these guys are being held without fair trial, that they are innocent until proven guilty and however bad it could be to let them go, it's worse to hold them. the right to liberty is at stake. baloney. People we are at war with are not American citizens, therefore they do not have the rights of an American citizen. They don't even have the rights of an American criminal. A murderer who is a citizen deserves a quick fair trial. A foreign murderer intent on war with us deserves a quick bullet. baloney, thats putting it mildly. The person who ordered there release, IMO, should be...............
