  1. Can you explain what these verses mean to you, especially what is in bold? 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, is he not? 2. Short answer ... No. She was found in favor of God to bear His Son. But to honor her as a deity, worship her or praying to her and believing that she can help us from the grave is not scriptural. It is idol worship. Will she have a special place in Heaven ... I would hope so. OneLight
  3. Even though I know many people, to find one that you feel has the wisdom to help ... well, let's just say that I would have to be led by the Spirit to talk to someone else besides Him about matters that I have placed in His hands. OneLight
  4. For what I gather, it all ended at the cross. John 19:25-27 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother
  5. I find this true for forums like this to discuss private matters, allowing the world to see. On a one to one basis, I also find it hard to find someone that I can trust with this information, or one that really cares, for that matter. But to say that it is hard for me ... not one bit. What is hard is to find that one brother that cares. This I do long for. OneLight

Sorry ... I took it as face value. OneLight
  7. I'm sure they mean well, but this does not sit well with me. We only know what they want us to know. I really wonder what goes on behind closed doors? I see this as an open door for Iran to benefit from the knowledge of France, only to continue to do as they wish in secret. I smell something fishy ... France never really liked us anyway.

    Works/Fruit?

Excellent question Suzanne. I don't want to make this an argument, or a complicated statement, but unfortunately, the answer is yes. Is all fruit from God? No. We have to remember that others fruit can be of the flesh, or of Satan himself, trying to "show" the lost that they do not have to follow God in order to do good deeds, causing the lost to follow someone who is still in the world, but is content and happy doing what they are doing. A fine line that needs to be looked for. How can we know the difference? We need to allow the Holy Spirit to bear witness of the Spirit/spirit behind the one who is bearing fruit. If it is of God, you will know and be drawn to this person. If it is not of God, you will also know and will not be drawn. By saying this, I have to also bring to light that we need to know when the Spirit is teaching us and when He is not. Our own thoughts can come from our flesh, so be "fine tuned" to the Holy Spirit. Remember, Satan can come as an angle of light. OneLight
  9. Then allow me to ask if you are a Christian or not? Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? How people reply to posts are determined on this factor. We can not assume that you believe on way when you do not, and it would not be fair to you if we did. OneLight
  10. Carol brought up a good point. You are a contract employee and it is not your business to be involved with the inner turmoil of a company that is not your employer. Talk to your boss and allow your boss to make this decision. If you are not able to complete your tasks properly, then it is up to him/her to ensure that you have all that you need to complete these tasks. If they are having a relationship, sticking your nose in the middle will definitely get your removed. All they have to do is call your employer and complain, telling your boss that they want s different person for your shift. Do not stop praying and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit and obey His directions. Onelight
  11. The question I asked had one purpose and that was to confirm the premise that has led you to believe what you do. Your premise, and the premise of Christendom in general, says that the good go to heaven and the bad go to
  12. Greetings canadasuzi, Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? OneLight I am editing this post because it may sound to pointed and harsh. You said ... It sounds like you have not yet accepted Jesus as your savior. The fear you feel is not from God. The Holy Spirit may be convicting you of your sin and Satan may be throwing it back in your face, but the conviction of sin brings guilt for repentance. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, call upon His name for salvation and you will be saved. This very truthful verse, John 3:16, can mean the difference of being afraid and knowing you are saved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
  13. Then it is simple. Dont bother to post on any boards relating to science. That way you dont even have to try to learn any. Too bad for you. After reading more of your posts, are you saying that you do not believe that the Bible is true? OneLight

    Works/Fruit?

Yikes! That would be a lot of printing! But, FYI, the thread itself is only 12 pages, it just prints out to 63, I guess? In His Love, Suzanne Cut and paste, probably? Unfortunately, these pages are not the same size of the paper.

    Works/Fruit?

Brother Dan! Great post! I agree that it is the Love relationship that we have with the Lord which brings forth the good works. Anything outside of this is of the flesh. If one does good works out of guilt from another, this works is for them that made that person guilty, not God. Works are born in our heart and expressed from the heart. Those who do works in order to pile up rewards in Heaven will be shocked to see them all burn. I am sure that some of my works will not pass the test of fire and some will. Still, I will be blessed being with the Lord, and if He wants me to have a reward, I will accept. If not, then my heart was not right in the first place and I will live with this for eternity. 16. I had thought about this some time ago. To me, the old man with white, wavy hair and cold eyes show what those of that time saw as a figure of authority. All I know is that when I see the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (cause I'll also be a spirit, per say), then I'll know for sure.
  17. Your reply is why I do not post in scientific threads. Have you not figured out that there are some things others can do better then you and things that you can do better then others? You may have a gift for science, I do not and never did, so ... please, keep your condescending remarks to yourself. I'll wait and get the information straight from God Himself, when I get to meet Him face to face. Yo go ahead and continue to stick you prideful nose up in the air and talk down to those who do not see things your way. It really brings out your maturity level! OneLight
  18. Jukia Why insult another when they do not agree with you? When I think about how far man has come with science, I often see that they are trying to disprove the bible. Not knowing who and why, I find myself agreeing with this verse: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools It's a shame to take the gift of intelligence and turn it against the One who gave it. Like a dog biting the hand that feeds them, I can't understand it. OneLight

    Works/Fruit?

As I read the past few posts, I see that you are trying to compare a true Christian with a nonbeliever. If someone claims to be a Christian and there is no change, then it is very possible that they are not a Christian in the first place. Their "conversion" could of been a head conversion, not a heart conversion. A true Christian, one that has accepted Christ into their heart and has allowed the Holy Spirit to change them, will eventually bear fruit that will be obvious. It might take a little while before we see them, but we will see them. Even the keeper allowed the tree not to bear fruit for three years before he considered cutting it down. Remember, we can rush the hand of God. He works in His timing, not ours, so if we see a Brother or Sister that is not bearing fruit, we need to pray and be patient. Love In Christ, Alan

    Works/Fruit?

I'm glad to see that you went back and edited your first line, for as much as I tried, reading the post three times, I could not find the word "works". It is important to bear good fruit, as the scripture states. The question we need to ask is what is the difference between works and fruit? Works is the action. Fruit is the result. We can do many works for the Lord, which we may never see the fruits of our labor. It is a blessing when we do. As I stated in the post two prior to yours, if we do not bear fruit, we will be cast into the fire. This is the same fire our works will be tested with. If our works are of wood, hay or straw, they will not stand, and we loose our reward. He is scripture to back it: 1 Corinthians 3:12-14 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one

    Works/Fruit?

A branch bears fruit after it's own kind (That is, after the tree's own kind) according to the life supply from the tree. A branch that is receiving a full supply from the tree will bear much fruit. A branch that is not receiving the full supply of the tree will not bear fruit. As branches of the vine (Christ) our fruit bearing (works) is dependent upon the amount of supply (That is the supply of the divine life) we receive from the vine. A believer who is fully engaged with gaining Christ is supplied with the divine life, and produces fruits according to his measure of faith. Any works apart from the vine are simply products of the flesh and are not profitable for the kingdom; even if those works are deemed "good" in man's eyes. I agree. May I add the Word? John 15:1-8 The True Vine
  23. We have done all by dissect the main purpose of this scripture. Below is how I see it. First, the scripture. 2 Peter 1:5-11 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now, how I see and apply it to my life. These are steps in which we are to grow, pointed out in this particular pattern for a reason. We can not skip any step, or it will not be complete. If we follow these steps, we are promised "you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. " If we follow these steps, we are told "Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." .................................................................Love ..........................................................Brotherly kindness ..................................................Godliness ..........................................Perseverance ...................................Self-control ...........................Knowledge .....................Virtue ...............Faith We should notice that each step is one more step upward, toward our calling and election, which is the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Will we ever stumble? Yes. Will we give up? I hope not. We are to obey His directions, yet as humans, our flesh gets in our obedient way from time to time and we keep on picking ourselves up and continuing toward the final reward. Nothing, but the word of God, is set in stone. This is how I see it ... Your Brother In Christ, OneLight
