What are we giving to people? Is it the hardcore christian faith or just a watered down version of it.

I mean, books like The Purpose Driven Life sells alot of copies, where as other book that mention the GOSPEL in their title dont sell as much.

I saw a commercial the other day that had the sinner's prayer in it, but their was no mention of Jesus dying on a cross for our sins or him rising from the dead for our justification(Rom. 4:25).

What are we giving people?

I am reading the Purpose Driven Life because we are going to do a study of the book in Sunday School. The cool thing is that our people are not afraid to give merit to books when they are on target with scripture, but also not afraid to crituque a book when it falls short of the bible. I am sure they will do the same with this book.

One thing I noticed in Chapter 7 is at the end, it gives a chance for people to believe and recieve. However, I noticed no where the issue of repent and confessing sin. Can we have salvation without repentance and confession of sin?

I will look for the cross in his book too. I had not paid attention to that issue. Thanks for the heads up.

Nope. :)

Still, the book has a lot of good in it. Any church or believer can benefit from it.

I Jn 1:8-10

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (KJV)

I agree with you on this. What I have read so far would be good for most people to read.

gogoswing, I am with you on this one! I hate that watered down Christianity that tickles the flesh, but causes no repentance or change in one's life. I am thankful that my pastor tells it like it is (in love). All that watered down stuff does is let people think they are on their way to heaven, when in fact they are running towards hell! Very Sad.

It does appear so many people and books these days are afraid to "cause waves" although not many people wanna read a book that tells them they are a sinner and need somebody elses help to be perfect in the eyes of God. We have a bread a society that thrives on self sufficiency(sp?) and independance, so to tell anybody they cannot do it on there own is like slapping htem in the face and they donot wanna hear.

What we need to do as christians is not be afraid to offend with the word, we need to take a stand, let people know what a GREAT SAVIOR WE HAVE. But on the same token we need to let them know they are living in sin and need to turn from. Its not OK to reject Christ and its not OK to continue to live a life blatantly denying God's Word.

God Bless,

Dave

Book sales and a chance to donate. Biggest money making interprize in the world. Brings to mind this scripture

Ezekiel 28:15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.

16 "By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones.

17 "Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.

18 "You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you.

God will and does use anything and everything to reach His children.

And in His perfected, precious way indeed! I haven't read it, but have read excerpts from it enough to get the jist. Test the fruits and spirits of the person that wrote it and then know that he, too, is serving our Lord and serving his brothers and sisters through Jesus and that is ultimately what it is all about...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! :D

Now, as for "feel good Christianity"?

PUHTOOOEEEYYYYYY! PUHLEASE!!!

We better get serious! It is one thing to be joyful and we are to be, but it is another to walk in denial about sin and repentance and think everything is just hunky dory!!! Time is drawing near and we as children of God need to have our houses in order for Jesus IS coming like a thief in the night. INDEED!

Love through Jesus!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
