sorry about the empty reply, here is the real one. i was at my doctor's office today and i was told by his physician's assistant, who is sharp as a tack. the research by the medicine companies, on real disease treating drugs that improve the health and quality of life, is almost non-existent today. the money and focus is on the drugs for the improvement of peoples physical appearances. isn't that exciting. more research for vanity than health. typical, that is where is the money is. service to mammon! i don't know where he got this information, but i trust him. i know him as a good christian man and a concerned medical professional. i also wonder about a nation that protests and screams about a war and all of our young men that are dying over there, to the point of dishonoring those that have died and those still serving, but never raise their voices about the millions of unborn, slaughtered thoughtlessly. then have the audacity to sue any christian organization that tries to teach abstinence. telling a parent his underaged child has the right to have sex with whomever they wish, and the parent doesn't have the right to stop them, but the parent does have the responsibility to support that same child and see they are in school and to try to put their child back together, physically, mentally and emotionally, after the damage has occured. no one can erase the scars the govt. gave the child the right to acquire, while they prevented the parent from teaching their child how to not suffer the damage and scars in the first place.

forgive me for getting off on my own soapbox. obviously i have strong opinions about the government's interference with familes. what i was trying to say was, i agree whole heartedly with your stance and conclusions, these are the last days, "but before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. you will be brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. but it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony." we must always be ready to witness and give a defense for the joy we have in the Lord.

Been many discussions of this possibility, and the problem with message boards is that all this gets scattered all over. Just for me,over a couple of thousand books have gone into me. Then I am shown some giants, scholars [e.g. Gleason Archer, Kenneth Kantzer...deceased by the way. Kenneth Hagin was quite important to me-also deceased-and was called a "false prophet" for a number of reasons. Remember, the Devil/Satan are out to get us to hate God and hate one another]....

A lot of surveys say the USA has the greatest % of Christians of any nation. But , to me, much of this is practicing atheism-no, I am not throwing stones/pointing fingers {hope and trust not, anyway}. Perhaps we are in the God-given Revelation 13/Daniel state of being overcome/being worn out...

Believe it was Paul Boyer's book {1992} "When Time Shall Be No More" suggested one should spend half of one's time trying to prove oneself wrong. My best understanding of reality as of now-with the whole world lieth in wickedness-that even IF the USA is the "Great Satan" and we Christians are "behind enemy lines", we must do as Jude tells us-"earnestly contend for the faith."

Henry Morris' "God and The Nations" has been quite important to me [he recently died-to me, a giant]. Recommend that book highly.

I must ask, what's the problem with gay marriage? I'm sorry but this isn't a christian nation. We have the most christian people, but we have freedoms that protect us from being run by any one religion. As much as some of us might like to be run entirely by christians, that's not very fair to the other members of the country. Gays just want the same rights in a marriage as straights. They don't want to redefine marriage in the eyes of god, they want to redefine marriage in the eyes of the law. I think it's really silly and a waste of effort to stop people from doing that. Plus marriage isn't the same across all religions, what about religions that support multiple partners? Or should the country be focused on the views of one religion, just ignore everyone else? That's a bit selfish and not very christ like...

Plus it drives me nuts to hear people talk about September 11th as god's wrath. Especially since I live in NYC, I know plenty of people who died in the attacks, and I got to see the towers burning first hand. I wish people could understand what it feels like to have someone tell you "God hates your country and to show you how much he hates it, he killed a few thousand people from the countries greatest city. Oh and don't forget, god loves you." Over 300 church going, god fearing fire fighters were killed because god felt he should teach america a lesson by killing off a bunch of his followers and giving Islam a huge win. If it was god's wrath, that means god is the god of Islam and we should all pick up the Koran and start studying cause we've really messed up having christianity as our nations largest religion.

If anyone has time, I highly recommend slowly reading this Katrina story from the August 28,2006 issue of "Time" as well as considering today's FDA "Plan B" approval. To me, there are just so many indications that the USA is finished, but...???

The comparasion as laid out by the title of this topic is inacurate. The USA with all of it's warts still has millions of God fearing people in it. Sodom had one family as well as in the time of Noah that God found to be worth saving from destruction.

Gun ownership is a right. You do not need a license to purchase or own a handgun. See the difference?

Driving: Privilege, which is why, if you abuse it, it can be taken away from you. A right cannot be taken from anyone but convicted felons, the loss of some of their rights is part of the punishment for their crimes. They are the only people that can lose any rights in our U.S. Constitution.

If homosexual marriage is allowed, how can we then make the argument against polygamous marriages? See, it's just a downward spiral and after polygamy is "legalized" (hipothetically) how can we make the argument against beastiality? Then, can we still call ourselves a civilized society when there is no sense of order and everyone is going around having sex with everything?

I think the US has a long ways to go before it becomes as evil as sodom and gomorrah. Just look at the rest of the world and gauge the morality of America. While pointing out the wrongs of each other doesn't condone any sin, I would say America still has a long ways to go before it fits into the same category of those two infamous cities.

But, the US is on the same path as them and it would take a massive catastrophe to bump the US over the edge, say something like the rapture?

Not that I know, but it SEEMS to me -for example-that even if the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade 9-0 and made it a Federal crime punishable by death to do an abortion it is OVER.

There are two main scripture that say that the days b4 the return of Christ would be as the days of noah and lot.I agree that these are wicked days but I think the point that was trying to be made is that the wicked would not know destruction was coming and would be carrying on there lives as normal while the righteous are waiting for the Lord to rescue them reff matt 24:37-41 and luke 17:26-30 both of these scripture clearly state that the same day the world was destroyed was the same day the righteous escaped thus will it be when the son of man returns.Here we see that the same day Jesus returns to destroy the wicked is the same day he takes us out not 7yrs b4 but at the post trib 2nd coming. The ''rapture'' is after the tribulation not b4 it.
