No, we are not an Islamic country thank God. But these people have islam in their hearts. Same devil, different country. Why do the parents want their daughter back so badly? Why don't you pray for the girl for God to have his will in the situation instead of defending the ungodly parents and slandering the caring minister and his wife? You don't REALLY know what is going on. But God does. Don't you think God wants the best for the girl? Then shut up and start praying.

"shut up and start praying"...lol :)

Why would ANY rational parent want their daughter back so badly? Are you saying that you wouldn't want your daughter back? I don't know what God wants for the girl...and neither do you. What I do know is that in this country we don't find people guilty before they have done something wrong...even the unsaved.

i'm only on page 4, i have a lot of catching up to do. but i'm gonna jump in here and stand with axxman on this one. now most of you know, axxman and i RARELY agree on anything, but we certainly do on this one.

this girl's family may be muslim, but they are certainly not steeped in the culture and tradition that many muslim families are. hello!!!! the girl is a cheerleader! in most muslim families, a daughter who dared to try out for cheerleading and then pranced around doing cheers in front of large audiences wearing extremely immodest clothing would never, NEVER be tolerated... and in those families that still do honour killings, the daughter would have been dead long before her first performance.

now, i'm not naive. i am fully aware that honour killings happen, even in the US. but the eyes of the entire country are on this family. they'd have to be stupid to even consider trying to harm this girl.

the family said they wanted her back in their state, but would be willing to let her live with a non-muslim foster family. they seem awfully willing to compromise for being such hard-nosed-muslim-extremist people, don't ya think? give me a break. they want to see their daughter on prom night, and at graduation, just like any other parent would want to witness those wonderful and important milestones in their child's life!

i'm sure the girl is scared. but i'm pretty sure that this fear is at least partially unfounded, and in this particular situation, most likely way overblown. when the story first broke, i kept thinking "there's something more to this... the girl is in some kind of trouble that hasn't yet been revealed."

no, i'm not trying to point blame at the girl. that trouble could be anything, and may not even necessarily be any fault of her own. but ya know, i remember being a teenager, and i remember raising teen daughters, and i know all too well how any little thing can become magnified in the mind of a young girl, making them think that the only option is to run for their life.

Thats twice this year LadyC...you better be careful you have a reputation to protect...lol. :)

A christian writer, and very conservative lawyer at the ultra-conservative "Stop the ACLU" website has written an interesting piece. He was expecting to be appointed to represent Rifqa Bary in court...and he was suddenly appointed to represent Rifqa's mother. As of Sept.3rd he is no longer affiliated with the case, and is no longer bound by the gag order.

Read his opinion here....

interesting, thanks for the link. i wonder why he's no longer working the case? i hope everyone here reads his opinion and ponders some of the points made. as for me, it gave credence to the gut feelings i had about the case that i posted before... i believe there is more to this story than we are being told.

by the way, what do we know about that church? i looked it up once and wasn't really impressed with what they had to say on their site. it sounded "kewl", it sounded very contemporary and full of lofty ideals, but at the same time was so darned vague. when i see church websites like that, i can't help but feel a bit suspicious.

and the media seems all over the place about this church. i've heard it reported that they're everything from conservative catholic to evangelical christian.

it is quite interesting that the girl's bus ticket was actually bought by someone in florida under a fake name, and that her pastor in ohio drove her to the bus station. there is something very smelly about this whole thing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
