Well, if you mean literally holding your breath....no, not a good plan! :21:

That IS what I meant.

But perhaps Shiloh could try an experiment ... (j/k)

Tsk! Tsk! Being grumpy isn't going to promote common ground. :o

I give darwinian evolution maybe 30 years before it is totally abandoned.

that is unless Jesus comes back first and all see his true glory, then they will be more worried about the fact they didn't repent when they had time.

Please don't hold your breath on Jesus return. People have been thinking it's going to be in their lifetime since ... well, since the disciples!

Plus, I'd like you (and I) to be around in 30 years, so we can see how many more (or less) people believe in evolution.

The mockers have always scoffed at the return of Jesus. According to Peter, even back then they misinterpreted the delay. Jesus' delay in returning is an act of mercy toward you. Jesus is allowing people like you time to repent. The gates will close eventually, but the delay in His return should not be misinterpreted as any slackness on His part to fulfill His promise.

Am I being labelled as a mocker?

Tsk, tsk, Shiloh, you should know (me) better than that!

No, but you make the same foolish argument they do.

Not grumpy, just trying to prevent things from escalating to the point that the thread gets shut down (again) for being too contentious!

Just wanted to point out that science is a group of theories by man. These theories may be well though out and researched but in most cases they are simply fallible theories.

Here is food for thought, most theories that were "created" by man were already a part of biblical knowlege many centuries before mankind decided to prove them. Such as the fact that the world is round, with learned men who thought the world was flat, until the 15th Century, however they would have known such if they read Isaiah 40:22

Science was said to have made great strides to understanding our world when they discovered "gravity" (the invisible force that lets the world stay in its place in the universe) in 1650 however had they read Job 26:7 they would have known that already.

And in an effort to prove themselves right man has gone through extremes to prove Christianity wrong. Take for instance the "Piltdown Man" the scientific communities sole proof that we were at one time primates and that evolution was correct. Was actually a hoax by scientist that fooled even the scientific community for more than 40 years.

The bible is infallible Christians and what is true in the past is also true in the future. God created man in his image, and that is all folks!!!

This argument always cracks me up because every one see this topic in Black and white, and there is a shred of grey area. Science and Christians don't have all the answers on the creation of man and how God created the universe and life. The bible says that he created the heavens and the earth it doesn't go explain how he did it. I'll give you an example.

Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky Shine down on the earth." and that is what happen. God made two great lights the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darknass. And God saw that it was good. and evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.

Genesis 14-19

Now if you read that it doesn't explain how he did it only that he did it. Now are a few reason why the bible doesn't give us a detailed account of how God created everything. The first reason is because it would fill up volumes and volumes of books. It wasn't important for use to know how he did it but that he did it. Now don't get me wrong that doesn't mean science isn't important because it is. It was more important to make use understand that God created the universe. The second reason is because all that knowledge would beyond are understanding, even today if we had all that info we still wouldn't understand it. The third reason is that he knew what we would do with that information. I mean look at the world around use, were destroying this world little by little. We use science to build weapons to wage war. Now imagin if we had all the knowledge of the universe, can you imagin what we would do with that knowledge, we would use it for death and destruction.

Now does man come from an ape, probably not. However that doesn't mean that we didn't evolve from something. The bible says that God created man in his own image, it doesn't say how he did it. There could have been a process and from God's point of view, the process didn't matter because man was the finally conclussion of the very thing he was trying to create.

Genesis gives use the basics to understand that God created the world but it doesn't tell use everything and for the reasons I have all ready given. The fact is that science and christians need to work together to find the answers and stop fighting with one another on the subject of creation. I can honestly say that I don't know how God created the universe only that he did. I believe the answer can be found in science but any and all discoverys are a gift from God.

The Bible tells us, in Genesis, exactly how God created man. He reached down and molded man from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him; that man was created in His image. Nowhere does it say he allowed apes to evolve into humans.

Good argument, GM.

Then problem is that if you take that approach ("the bible doesn't say it, so it can't be true"), then you inevitably have to reject Copernicus' theory.

Well, you don't HAVE to, but it would be logically consistent.

Fallible theories: the sun is the center of the solar system was the object of this criticism, back in the day. The only reason to accept it is that it simplifies the mathematics (Occam's razor, and all that).

EVOLUTION THE BIG FAT :noidea:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
