So I'm wondering...

Has anyone here changed their position from an old-earther to a young earther while a christian, and if so, what was it that changed your position?

Or, has anyone converted to christianity because of the appeal of young earth creationism?

Blessings,

Andy

While I've been a Christian I went from believing in evolution to becoming a YEC... Mainly because I read the bible more and grew in my faith and realised that Christianity and evolution aren't compatable. Sorry that doesn't answer your question though!

Actually it does! What specifically was it that made you realise?

no, do not give it much thought,

I have my own thougths on it, and I do not even try to push them and alot of times do not even share them when people start talking about it, why???? cause there is no proof for anything other then what the Bible says.....

as far as finding petrified stuff, petrification can happen in the matter of just a few years, fossilization can happen in a very short time (these have been proven) diamond, the same thing, they do not take thousands of years to make like people use to think....

anyways, some times I wonder if we are not just in the 7th day of creation..... why???? well, why not? just something I feel.... and it is approaching the MIDNIGHT HOUR... where this day is coming to a close..... soon to go home...... soon to see my Savior...... soon to have a new body......

there is one question I have......

when did Adam's life line start, did it start the day or moment he was created? or when he was ejected from Eden? that is my question. did time start (as we count time) when Adam was created or when he was removed from paradice?

and really that question will not be answered on this earth, will have to wait for that one too......

it is highly possible that the earth is old, but life on this earth is not as old (billions) as some want us to believe.... the planet in itself, could be way old, but life evidence does not say that.....

what we use for dating stuff is falible, why? cause we do not have a control factor, that is "billions" of years old, our control sample is not old at all, so how can that be perfect?

that is like using my hand span to measure out lumber to build a house, yes, I can build a dog house or a rabbit hutch using my hand for a measuring device, but to build a larger house, like for people, there are too many factors involved, did I stretch it the same for every measure? is one, did I move it the same from point to point each time? who knows.

our method of dating old items is the same, we have a known item but it is not old compared to what we are trying to measure.... another thing is what constitues an "OLD" rock?

there are no new rocks on this earth, they are all old....

our control sample is what makes this an issue and a problem with getting accurate measuremenst on age....

mike

by the way, my left hand has a span of 9 and 11/16 inches (fully stretched) my right 9 3/4 fully stretched..... good for doing a quick measure when fishing for crappie in N.E. Oklahoma...... but measuring for official length, forget it, will use an official device.....

When I was first born-again, I believed the interpretations of theologians for YEC but then changed my mind based on the hebrew words used and what the bible actually says (and ignoring what it doesn't say)

I usually get accused as being an "evolutionist" just because I say that there can not be a 24-hour day before the sun was created. The entire debate hinges on how long a "yom" is and there is no specific answer to that question since a "yom" means an "epoch" which can be anything from 6 nanoseconds or 47 trillion years. Whatever...

But it's a pointless argument, especially if you want to lead someone to Jesus. Total distraction from what matters most. I would never think of bringing it up to a non-believer

i agree that the argument itself is of a secondary importance, i did covert to YEC after coming th Christ because i put my faith in literal translation of the God's Word rather than in an everchanging sciene of man

Went from yec to evolutionist to theistic evolutionist when I became a Christian.

Went from yec to oec a few years after opening the door.

I have a scientific background from school days physics/chemistry/maths..so i find it logical that the earth is billions of years old.

I must say that yec was always a stumbling block for me when accepting creation.I think it is also for many non believers and seekers.

This is really interesting to me! Rest assured that I am not using this as a witnessing tool, only as an interesting question to ask my fellow believers :emot-pray:.

I agree Yod, and because I don't have the answers, or anything like them, I just ignore it, and concentrate on what matters now. Each day has trials enough of it's own. :emot-pray:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
