I've been trying to take communion at home every day.....but the problem is, I don't know what to say when I take it!

What are the WORDS that you say as you eat the bread/cracker and drink the juice?

My pastor did a sermon on communion, and the words he spoke to say were very long and detailed and my poor brain just can't wrap around it at all.

Tried googling it with no luck, and the Bible references didn't exactly say what words to SAY, only that they "did it in rememberance of Him"

Need some short, sweet, meaningful words for a very forgetful person like myself. lol

It's your heart that needs to be in the right place. Put your mind on Jesus and what He did for you. Search your heart for any thing that needs to be forgiven or taken before the Lord. The verses regarding the Last Supper are good to read as well as 1 Corinthians chapter 11. Remember, you can say all the "right" words but they are only ritual unless they are heartfelt.

I think we should all remember that the Lord's Supper is not a sacrifice or a channel of grace. When we take the Lord's Supper we should be reminded that we are part of a body, a family, of believers and that we are not merely individuals (1 Cor. 11:25, 26)

Hi SBJ, I would talk honestly with God, thanking Him for His body(provisions) and for His blood(life and grace).

I am still not convinced communion was meant to be emblems but rather a full meal enjoyed as thanksgiving to God. Im not against emblems but is it not communion when we meet and share a meal as believers? Why did Paul tell those who couldnt wait for all to be gathered to eat at home if it wasnt a full meal?

Perhaps this should be a new thread, i dont mean to highjack your post.

Hello Saved-by-Jesus,

Read the scriptures about the Communion (The Last Supper):

Matt 26:26-28 (AMP)

26Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, praising God, gave thanks and asked Him to bless it to their use, and when He had broken it, He gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat; this is My body.

27 And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink of it, all of you;

28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which [ ratifies the agreement and] is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Mark 14:22-24 (AMP)

22And while they were eating, He took a loaf [of bread], praised God and gave thanks and asked Him to bless it to their use. [Then] He broke [it] and gave to them and said, Take. Eat. This is My body.

23 He also took a cup [of the juice of grapes], and when He had given thanks, He gave [it] to them, and they all drank of it.

24 And He said to them, This is My blood [which ratifies] the new covenant, [the blood] which is being poured out for (on account of) many.

Luke 22:19-20 (AMP)

19 Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.

20 And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament or covenant [ratified] in My blood, which is shed (poured out) for you.

--------------------------------------------------------

Jesus commanded us to do this in remembrance of Him. We are to remember what Jesus did for us by sacrificing Himself in our place. Take this time to thank Him and offer your appreciation for what He did for you.

Blessings,

JIME

Exactly..

1 Corinthians 12:21-27

21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

I agree.

Act 2:46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,

23For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 25In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." 26For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment. 32When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.
