You don't really have to be well versed, except to say "The Lord Jesus Christ is my saviour, He died on the Cross for my sins, arose from the dead, and will return, my sins have been forgiven by His Blood".

Don't get into discussion, just tell them that.

Blessings

You need to be well versed if you want to go up against these people. They know and have been taught to memorize many verses. Their first order of business is to make you look like a fool because you don't know your Bible like they know theirs.

Why not print out some good info from the web explaining the JW's beliefs and just mail it to your friend if she if argumentative?

I would ask my friend if she believes that Jesus is the Son of God and show her what the JW believe. Ash her if she believes that Christ has returned yet (JW believe He came back invisibility in 1914).

They have lots of crazy beliefs and yes, they will lie about what they believe. It's hard to pin them down in person.

according to them Jesus and Lucifer (satan) are brothers..... they do believe that Jesus was on this earth, just that he is not fully devine and was fully flesh, they believe He is only a good man and prophet, not that he is the Only Son of God.....

here is the thing, if Jesus and Lucifer ARE the brothers, then the BIBLE lies.... If Jesus IS the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, then the J.W. lie and the Bible holds true....

know your bible, not theirs.... you will get red flags while talking to them and if you study God's Word, you will be able to stand fast, with out being deceived....

Another question...Does anyone know why they don't celebrate Easter and Christmas?

Or birthdays? I was working in Italy a couple of years ago when a colleague came in with a plate of rather nice ice cream-cakes to celebrate her birthday. We had a JW colleague who refrained from the happy birthdaying "We don't say such things or celebrate such events". She did, however, managed to gobble up more cakes than everyone else, even though I did my best to keep up with her. I felt this reflected a certain inconsistency of character..

Having said that Chritmas is in reality a thinly Christianised pagan festival.

Yes; all Christians know that. Pretty much.

Well..it is and it isn't. I am thrilled to be able to celebrate the birthday of Christ. Now, I am quite sure that He was actually not born on Dec. 25 - but it's as good a day as any. I hear that tired old dialogue every year about commercialism, etc. Well.... I'm 54 years old and it's never been a commercial fiasco for me - or my kids .... it's Jesus' birthday. Somebody put a tree up and decorated a few years ago.... ok - nice tradition, I like it and we have always done it too. I do not need a lot of gifts and there have been years when there were none - but yes, I do give some and I get a couple too.... so what? It's still celebrating the birthday of the Son of God. Sing a few songs, cook some favorite foods, share some time with friends and family - somehow - it just works for me... :noidea:

I have to agree..... no matter what day of the year was picked for the time to remember and celebrate the birthday of Christ, people would always find something wrong with that day....

an evergreen/pine/spuce, is used because of the always green, symbolixing new life.... what does Christ do for us? offersd us NEW LIFE......

the giving of gifts, comes from the magi bringing gifts to Christ, our gifts are in love for the person that we are giving them.....

I too, see the same arguments year after year.....

J.W., well, I am sorry that they are mislead, I share the Gospel of Jesus, Crucified, burried, and Risen with them... they do not like that type of talk...

There is one thing about the JW's that should make us, as true Christians, feel ashamed, their desire and dedication to reach out to others.

I met up with my friend yesterday and told her to compare the two Bibles because they are different. Her response was that she already compared them and that there were only "minor" differences. Now she wants me to take her to kingdom hall in exchange for her coming to my church. I agreed. Eeek.

Not a good move, imo.

This is the only way she would come to my church.
