Psa 83:1 A Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O God, keep not thou silence: Hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

Psa 83:2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult; And they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

Psa 83:3 Thy take crafty counsel against thy people, And consult together against thy hidden ones.

Psa 83:4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; That the name of Israel may be

Psalm 83 tells of the destruction of the Arab nation enemies of Israel which had not occured. Could it be a future fulfillment to fulfill the prophesy that Israel shall live peacefully in its borders in the end days? Assyria or Damascus is to be destoyed in the end times and this could be the war that it is destroyed.

Psalm 83

1 O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God!

2 Even now your enemies are in tumult; those who hate you have raised their heads.

3 They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against those you protect.

4 They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more."

5 They conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant

It is a petition to God for relief. And it is not a prophecy in any way. A study of hermeneutics will lead you to understand that the author was writing about the present, what was happening at that time, and in no way alluding to the future.

Hermeneutics allows us to take the whole situation into account, the events leading to the prayer, the people invoved at the time, and it would be a good idea to read and study the books that lay the foundation to this prayer. It is unwise, scripturally, to take our own opinions (we all do it from time to time), and use them to try and guess what is meant in four short verses. God did answer this prayer in respect of the destruction of the Edomites for instance.

Num 20:14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom: "Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the hardship that we have met:

Num 20:15 how our fathers went down to Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. And the Egyptians dealt harshly with us and our fathers.

Num 20:16 And when we cried to the LORD, he heard our voice and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. And here we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory.

Num 20:17 Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or vineyard, or drink water from a well. We will go along the King's Highway. We will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left until we have passed through your territory."

Num 20:18 But Edom said to him, "You shall not pass through, lest I come out with the sword against you."

Num 20:19 And the people of Israel said to him, "We will go up by the highway, and if we drink of your water, I and my livestock, then I will pay for it. Let me only pass through on foot, nothing more."

Num 20:20 But he said, "You shall not pass through." And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

Num 20:21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his territory, so Israel turned away from him.

1Sa 14:47 When Saul had taken the kingship over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, against the Ammonites, against Edom, against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Wherever he turned he routed them.

So it was a prayer, one that the Lord answered. I suggest you read Numbers and 1 Samuel, the answers are all there.

Blessings

I am afraid you may have taken psalms only as a book of songs and petition to God. The psalms are a collection of songs and praises, yet it is also a book of prophesy. Look at the example of Psalm 22

Psa 22:1 For the Chief Musician; set to Aijeleth hash-Shahar. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?

Psa 22:2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou answerest not; And in the night season, and am not silent.

Psa 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Psa 22:4 Our fathers trusted in thee: They trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

Psa 22:5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: They trusted in thee, and were not put to shame.

Psa 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Psa 22:7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

Psa 22:8 Commit thyself unto Jehovah; Let him deliver him: Let him rescue him, seeing he delighteth in him.

Psa 22:9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb; Thou didst make me trust when I was upon my mother's breasts.

Psa 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb; Thou art my God since my mother bare me.

Psa 22:11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; For there is none to help.

Psa 22:12 Many bulls have compassed me; Strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

Psa 22:13 They gape upon me with their mouth, As a ravening and a roaring lion.

Psa 22:14 I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.

Psa 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; And my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; And thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Psa 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: A company of evil-doers have inclosed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.

Psa 22:17 I may count all my bones; They look and stare upon me.

Psa 22:18 They part my garments among them, And upon my vesture do they cast lots.

If you had read Psalm 22, you would have said the same thing that this is a psalm of petition of David for strength and justice from his enemies. The Gospel writer however recognise that the verses 1 and 14-18 as applying to the Messiah and was fulfullied by the Lord at his crucifixtion on the cross. This is both a Psalm as a prayer petition and prophesy fulfilled by Jesus at his first coming.

So is Psalm 83. It is a prayer petition and will be literally fulfilled.

The problem with yr interpretation is that Psalm 83 is written by Asaph, in the time of King David which is way after Moses (like 500 years ) in the book of Number which you claim is fulfillment of Psalm 83. How can it fulfill prophesy when it is 500 years before the verse was written?

This psalm was also written by Asaph in the time when king David had vanquished all his enemies and the Land was at peace. This is not a petition for help because David had conquered all the land and the Arab neighbours were not plotting against Israel and they were living in peace with Israel.

I never claimed it was a fulfillment of any prophesy. What I was saying that it was a prayer that was answered. I was stating that one should read the whole bible, and to refer to it, and it's history, as did the author in making his point, and not take individual verses and turn them into "prophesies"

I see Psalms also as something that probably happened and will happen again, a dualness to it I suppose. There are many who also think this is something that we will see very soon. Actually I see it as the prelude to bringing on the anti-christ. You have to have something that brings him into the scene and the Gog/Magog war seems to be the one that brings Yeshua back doesn't it? so what brings the ac on the scene so it can all play out? Isn't this guy making some kind of treaty and since that seems to be the case why is there a treaty needed if there isn't some kind of conflict for it?

Eze 34:23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

Eze 34:24 And I, Jehovah, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them; I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

Eze 34:25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land; and they shall dwell securely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.

Eze 34:26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing.

Eze 34:27 And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those that made bondmen of them.

Eze 34:28 And they shall no more be a prey to the nations, neither shall the beasts of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.

This is an end time prophesy given to Israel that God will set a shepard for them one who is from the line of David which is the Lord Jesus to look after then. The verse also says that they will live abundantly and securely in their land and no enemies shall bother them any more. This is not the situation presently with Israel and can only be achieved if the hostile nations are removed in a war as prophesied in Ps 83.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
