(paraphrasing) "Haiti made a pact with the devil. That's why this happened"

that's dumb. the devil doesn't cause earthquakes,

But im sure there are a line of people that believe the devil causes all natural disasters.

Makes Christians look hateful and better than others.

edit: i dont want to make this a bash P. Robertson thread. However, this isnt the first time he's made statements like this.

Yeah the bizarre thing is you know even if you believe that somehow natural disasters are caused by God's punishment or by Satan, why the need to speak up right now about it, to grab the spotlight away from the important business of Christians in helping those families in Haiti?

I think it might be time to send grampa pat to the home.

This is not the first time Pat has spoken out about the spiritual condition of a nation or people after something bad has happened. On the reverse side, he also uses their faith as the reason why good things happen. This is what he believes.

Was the flooding in the midwest of America due to their pact with the devil?

I do wish Pat Robertson would just shut up. Better to be quiet on something like this - so devastating, than to say something stupid and cruel.

I wish he would use a scripture to back up his insensitive comments. The earth is cursed, This we know, but what nation is blameless before God?

Christians will lead the way in the rescue and rehab of Haiti, why not focus on that instead of making us smell bad.

He can say this to any one, any city or any country whenever he likes. But when you make statements like this AFTER

a catastrophe this huge makes him (and Christians) seem like buttheads.

How many times have you sent Mr. Robertson a letter voicing your concerns.

Matthew 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

I hadn't heard about this 'til now but, yeah, I agree. Why say anything? The people in Haiti are in desperate straits and condemnation is, like you say, stupid and cruel. God knows the score; we are just to try to help them. I hope some of the hundreds of millions of dollars the 700 Club takes in will go to the Haitians.
