So one can be saved and not repent?

Once again, one cannot be saved without ever coming to the point of repentance, or changing direction. The cross is our crossroad. It is godly sorrow that God is looking for. A well-known preacher teaches that we can even come to salvation based on our faith, but without the repentance that comes either before or after that point, the salvation is not authentic.

2 Corinthians 7:10

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

So people go to hell immediately when they die and are in a waiting chamber until the great judgement? :noidea:

I don't understand the sense in that.

Wouldn't we all die and remain in the grave, then when Jesus comes, the dead in Christ shall rise first and then those who are alive in Christ will be caught up together with them in the air?

Then, after that, well I don't know what happens. I think then God's army will defeat the enemy, a new heaven and a new earth will be created.

And while those who believe in Christ will live Eternal life, the ones who rejected Him will have teeth nashing, fire burning them for all Eternity.

Right?

I mean, obviously that day will be more glorious than I can ever describe.

No, because Jesus portrayed hell as a place of suffering for those who die in unrighteousness per the rich man and Lazarus. When you die, you step out into eternity and you will either be with the Lord, or you will spend eternity separated from Him.

JamiLea, that's not what the Lord was implying at all in that account. The poor man was not in heaven. The rich man was in Hades. shiloh357 is not correct.

I did not say that Lazaras was in heaven. I was addressing the notion that our spirits remain in the grave until the resurrection. Hades was divided into two compartments, Abraham's bosom and hell. The rich man was suffering in hell.

:laugh:Scripture, please!

For the first part of the statement, Romans 3:23 would fit the bill. I have no idea about the 20 year age of accuntability statement and where that could be found in scripture

Shiloh, who are the "dead in Christ" and who are the "alive in Christ" referred to in Scripture?

Since you know my style, I would like to place emphasis on the fact that I hope I am asking questions in a less argumentative way than before?

Christians are both dead in Christ and alive in Christ both now and in eternity. We are dead in Christ to sin, but alive in Christ in that we have eternal life. We die "in Christ" when we leave this world and enter into eternity. We will always be alive in Him. He is eternal life.

That does not answer my question. Let me put it another way hmmm.

In Scripture, it says

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (King James Version)

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

That refers to every Christian who has physically died prior to Christ's return. They will rise first and their resurrected bodies will be joined with their spirits which were in heaven with Jesus until His return.

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
We will follow them, and our bodies will changed in the twinkling of an eye.

This Scripture does not line up with your answer at all. Maybe I should've posted it in my original question so you knew what I was referencing, sorry.
That's okay. it would have helped to know what you were referencing. However, my answer was accurate nonetheless. You ARE dead in Christ at this moment and you are alive in Christ, as well.

I don't find anywhere in Scripture where it states we go directly to Heaven when we die so I'm confused. Also, when Jesus says "You will be with me in paradise", he does not specify whether it's now or when He returns.

Jesus said to the thief, "I tell you the truth; today you shall be with me in Paradise." Jesus told the thief exactly when it would happen. Seondly, in Jesus' parable of the rich man and Lazarus, they did not remain in their graves till the resurrection. One went to Abraham's bosom and the other went to hell.

JamiLea,

Actually you are DEAD to SIN and ALIVE in CHRIST. Also, Jesus is at the right hand of God, so you would have to be in heaven to be with Jesus. The judgment hasn't happen yet so, guess what....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
