When Paul was speaking about propriety in church in 1 Corinthians he said "let your women be silent in churches".

Was Paul referring to the before mentioned tongues issue or any speech?

1Co 14:27-35 MKJV

(27) If one speaks in a language, let it be by two, or at the most three, and in succession. And let one interpret.

(28) But if there is no interpreter, let him be silent in a church; and let him speak to himself and to God.

(29) And if there are two or three prophets, let them speak, and let the others judge.

(30) If a revelation is revealed to another sitting by, let the first be silent.

(31) For you may all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be comforted.

(32) And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

(33) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

(34) Let your women be silent in the churches; for it is not permitted to them to speak, but to be in subjection, as the Law also says.

(35) And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in a church.

I have also read this order was made to stop the pagan practice of women priestesses in Delphi(speaking in oracles) being infiltrated into the Corinthian church.

Anyone confirm what 1Corinthians 14:34 actually means?

A lot of times what people forget is that God set a lot of laws, statutes, boundaries, order, etc. in the scriptures for us to follow and try to interpret, follow, apply, etc. the scriptures with "political correctness" or how they themselves view and/or understand things.

God set this up -

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:2-3

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1 Timothy 2:11-13

This is speaking expressly of during the time of worship, unless they are dealing with their children or yelling "fire!!". This is the only time that we are commanded to meet. So, women are not to be preachers nor to preside over anything that has to do with the worship services. Now, there is nothing wrong with women teachers. Where I go there are some powerful women teachers that are very knowledgeable and sound in the gospel. They are a great support to the men and also teach women's classes and children's classes. The last time one of our evangelists came up here to visit I counseled with his wife over a matter.

This isn't being chauvinistic, but is the order of things in which God laid them out to be. Remember, it is not up to us to question them, but to follow them.

The ways of today's generation has distorted many ways of looking and applying the scriptures. We can't change the application of the scriptures with the changing of times. Jesus said that they law will not pass away, but so many people want to view and apply the scriptures with "today's thinking" and claiming, "It's the 21 century" and times change.

Well things to change. I dont believe the law changes but then again Paul was writing a letter of his opinion, and how he conducts things in churches.

Using, "things change" is very detrimental to the ways in which God intended for man to follow and obey the gospel. When we read the New Testament we are to keep this mindset -

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:15-17

God would not have allowed Paul to write things to be included in the bible if he had not intended them to be a part of the thinking structure as defined in the these verses. Everything that we read is inspired by God to be profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. Even if it is Paul's opinion, it is still inspired by God and in the scriptures for a reason that is basically an instruction in how to be righteous before God.

How the Apostles conducted themselves in the churches is written for an example for us to follow in how we are supposed to conduct ourselves in our churches.

I agree, Its a interesting discussion Woman are not second class citizens. I have been uplifted greatly by woman speaking in church. Maybe the interpretation of the meanings that paul writes is a little grey, and could very well be based on the society that was lived in. We know that every word in the bible is not law. At least I dont think so.

you shouldnt look at it as such. both genders are being tested. the woman is asked to

be a "helper" and the man is asked to "come forth."

women are now stepping forth because the men are too busy playing XBOX (or not growing up).

It is my understanding that at the time that Paul wrote "women to be silent" it was common practice to have a section of the church for women and another for men. The command to be quiet was for the woman to wait until after the service to ask her husband a question instead of shouting across the room to her mate. Which, given the cultural reference, makes sense.

To me it is all about submission to our head those in whom has authority over us. It is Christ that is the head of the church the church is made up with believers being husband and wives and youth and small children. God is not the author of confusion but a God of order. Now if you never know the proper order how in the world can one submit to it?

Order is: God the Father, Christ is in submission Father, Man under submission to Christ head of church, women under man authority, and children are under both husband and wife authority.

When go to church "All" are to come under Christ authority Men, Women and children and this is the order God has chosen and we are to serve in order place God put us in. There is "NO" shame in either place we are in and it is not a war between men and women because Christ is the head of us all.

When one go to prophesy, weather man or woman all are to do it in God order and that order is for all to be under authority that was put in Word to follow so be no confusion.

Look and see what these scriptue do say,1 Corinthians 14:27-28 - If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by "course;" and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, "let "HIM keep Silence in the Church; and let "him" speak to himself, and to God.

This scripture tell instruction how to do when prophesy for God and if they was to be no interpreter there to make known meaning then that man is to keep silence cause no one to tell meaning and this God order for to follow. Women are also told to be in "silence" reason being she is under subjection obedience to husband as scripture do say vs. 34) IMO I take it to mean as long as the married women are in obedience to husband then think she can speak as Paul say that "everyone" vs.26 when come together has a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, a interpretation, but let everything be done so church be edified or built up comforted and all as they be confusion if instructions are not followed have no order. But do think women can speak as long she be under husband authority.

1 Timothy 2:11,12,13 - Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to ursurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

And that is the order of he set in place the man is in authority over the woman so if the man permits his wife to speak sharing whatever gift she may have with the church she is not in the wrong as God's order is in place but if not in this order just like the man with no interpreter was to keep silence or him would have been out of order to share him gift in church but all have to be under authority just have to learn that line of authority.

Genesis 3:16 - Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (because man is head of the body two shall become one)

Ephesians 5:22

1 Corinthians 11:3

There is not a thing wrong with who he placed us in his order of authority for authority is a safe guard for us. It speaks in the word about women praying or prophesieth being out from under authority dishonoreth her head being her husband.

"No Feminist here" LOL I need my bra no burning here :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
