Tonight we were discussing when a mormon came to witness to someone. The mormon asked this christian woman to pray and see if what extra stuff he had to tell her is of God. Typical mormon witnessing. So the Christian prayed even though she didnt believe any of his stuff. She prayed that God through His word would convict us of truth and to reveal what was not truth.

Ok my question is. The bible tells us not to even eat with someone who brings heretical doctrine. Would praying like this with an unbeliever (mormon or otherwise), given the circumstance in which the unbeliever asked for prayer, be something we are to avoid? Please give scriptural support.

Btw, in our discussion of this the christian woman suggested I post this on the boards and ask for other opinions.

Hi Ayinjade---I believe we are to witness to all. The order was to go into all the world.God so Loved the world.By the way every person Jesus talked to was a sinner,Me Too.I believe I should talk to anyone God sends to me.God choses, not I as he has today. All praise be to Him.--------Mark13-20 God chose----- Luke6-13 -God Chose----John-6-70---John13-18--John-15-19----Acts1-2---Acts-13-17---Acts-22-14--- Ephesiahs 1-4 GOD CHOSE US.I don't know the mine of God . The Holy spirit dose I just go were the spirt of God wants .I Believe that would be a good way for all .As Jesus said I do nothing unless God Tells me.All praise be to God---gord

Blessings.

I would definately pray for them to know the Lord's truth and to witness to them for sure! I would be very hesitant praying with them. How can that be done? To whose God are you praying in agreement with them as their god is not The True and Living God? I know you said in your heart you knew the difference but do they know you are not praying to their god for conviction?

This particular occultic spirit has been around since the Bible and there are stern warnings about it;

Galatians 1

1Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) 2And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: 3Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 5To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. 11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. [/b

2 Corinthians 11

13For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

 i know that your heart was to reach out to a lost soul andy no doubt about that. Just be sure that they know there is a distinction between the God you pray to and their false god. And be aware that this does delve in the area of the occult.

I wouldn't pray in the name of the Mormon "god" as he is just an "exalted man."

As they say, "As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become."

Their god is an idol - a creation of their minds that does not exist.

Make sure there is a distinction.

That's a good point wyguy :emot-hug: .

A few weeks back, a neighbour emailed me to let me know they were sick, and I replied with "I hope you feel better soon, God bless."

This person is not a christian but knows I am.

Her reply was "God bless you too".

Really made me pause for a while.... this person could have though I meant any god! The God I am praying to is unlikely to be the "God" she meant.

It really struck me then to be careful to make it clear who I mean, and the same applies here. I am determined now to use Jesus, rather than God, more often when I speak to non believers. I think I should have done this anyway :D .

Blessings Andy,

Just so you are aware the mormon religion also uses Jesus but it is a different Jesus than the Jesus of the Bible. Their beliefs started with a visitation from an angel of light to their founder and they have really twisted who Jesus is ,how and why salvation occurs ,and many many other things .tho they will use parts of the Bible and claim to be Christian most of their beliefs come from extra Biblical writings such a BOM and the writings of their leaders. and as i said there is a huge occult side.

I realise one of their tactics is to use our terms but to mean something entirely different. We certainly have to put on our armour when talking to them and be aware of the enemies wiley schemes....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
