Looking for the anti-Christ

Seriously, though, is it Biblical to be looking for the anti-Christ? Is it Biblical to be battling the physical establishment/government we perceive to be the Beast?

What are the prophetic writings of the End Times given to us for?

I don't think it a wise thing to be actively looking for the anti-Christ as such. I think it more important to have the scriptures in your mind and the Lord will reveal the stage that we are at when He thinks fit.

I think that we cannot unravel the end times by ourselves before these things come about, there are more theories than Christians. It has more to do with seeing how the prophecies have been fulfilled rather than how they will be fulfilled.

Basically I feel that it is not a bad thing to defend our states against anyone wanting to snatch power. If we have to take up arms against our governments then it must be in line with scripture, not our preconceived ideas about the end times. That is that they have overstepped their God given authority.

Non-controversial wouldn't you say?

The passage I had in mind was:

Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

Luke 21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

While I anticipate the Lord's return, I can't really watch for it in one sense because His coming will be without warning and be over in the twinkling of an eye.

but He did instruct us on the need for watchfullness:

Luke 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

Luke 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Luke 12:38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

Luke 12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

I don't see how you interpret those verses to say, "Watch the governments, watch the world systems, watch for the anti-Christ."

Well this is simple. if one is convicted that they should not look out for prophesies coming to fruition then by all means don't. And if you are convicted that you should keep an eye out for the signs of the times then keep your eyes pealed.

Yes, but does "keep you eyes pealed" mean tagging everything and everyone as the fulfillment of prophecy?

How many people thought WWI was the fulfillment of Revelation - you know, 'the war to end all wars" stuff? Or WWII?

For the past nearly 30 years, I've heard more people being "recognized" as the anti-Christ than I care to count.

Let's see, is Babylon: the Roman Catholic Church, the USA, the united European nations, . . . ?

Is this what Jesus wanted us focusing on?
