I love hip hop. I now steer towards the Christian R&B but I was raised in the city and have always loved something with a great beat and tight harmonies!

Ooh, one of my favorite things - music!

I enjoy a wide variety of music. My two absolute favorites (on complete opposite ends of the spectrum) are Mark Lowry and ApologetiX. They're both great on AND off stage! :t:

I also like DC Talk, Jennifer Knapp (I really wish she'd come out of hiding, I love her music), Jaci Velasquez, Chris Rice, FFH, Newsboys, The Gaithers, Avalon....I could go on and on.

I also like to hear local bands. We have some great talent in this area! I also saw a talented local band in Mayfield, KY, last year when I went there for a college reunion and took in an ApologetiX concert while I was there. It was a big Fourth of July fest and several bands were playing - some local, some more well known. There was also a decent local band at a New Year's Eve youth fest in Illinois last year (where ApologetiX also played), that I wouldn't be surprised to see on a major label in the near future.

So yeah, I just like all kinds of stuff and I'm open to new artists!

But anyway, that's my two cents. :)

I like Hillsong praise and worship, because it glorifies the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ.

I listen to Christian Alternative

Substance

The mighty God of the universe has given us all things that pertain to life. This was accomplished through the sacrifice of His Son, His Word made into flesh. All physical, mental, and spiritual needs were met at the altar of the cross. By faitn they are received when one is in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is SUBSTANCE, by His grace, an undeserved gift of the highest magnitude.

There is a message in the music... GLORIFY GOD IN ALL THINGS!

If you look in the bible, the book Psalms actually means songs. Oh sure we read them as verses and words...and they don't rhyme, but that is what they were. So, I enjoy Praise and Worship. They express - like David tried to - the feelings of us creation, to our Creator. Good and the bad sometimes.

I love Celtic music.

I love instrumental - like classical whether it be one instrument or an orchestra. I love going to the symphony.

Jazz - oh my goodness I love Jazz....and Blue grass

Alternative (actually I don't know what you call it anymore. What group does Switchfoot belong to?)

Anyhoo, some bands like that, along with the Coldplay types, Jars of Clay, Caedmon's Call, etc...

I absolutely adore Choral music. I mean the kind where you have a 100 person + mass choir singing madrigal, and concert accapella pieces. The kind you go to a large Orthodox church with stained glass windows at Christmas time and listen to the haunting melody's of God's most natural gift - the voice, and you get goose bumps the whole time. I sang in a group a little smaller than 100 people, and it was the most challenging and most rewarding thing I even did.

I guess I really like a mixed bag of things. I think music just touches some deep part of us that nobody can really explain. I often used to think - and sort of still do - that music - without even singing, expresses an emotion you can't otherwise feel. I mean music stirs up emotion, but making music expresses something inside that otherwise might not make it out. It is such a universal language. Evey level of society and culture around the world has it.

You can glorify God in nearly any music you listen too, it is good also if you are aware of the source. I like someone's music, like Yanni, however, sometimes I can sense something spiritually not right.....later on was when I found out he is into New Age.

In all things Praise Him.

In all things Bless Him

In all things give God the honour.

I will leave you with a song we performed in high school choir - a festival in which we not only won Gold at, but recorded a CD with this on it.....and it was taken directly from the bible...

All that hath life and breath Praise Ye the Lord

Sing to the Lord Hallelujah

Hallelujah halleluiah

All that hath life and breath Praise Ye the Lord

Sing to the Lord a new made song, praise his name hallelujah

Unto thee oh Lord Have I made supplication

And credit to the Rock of my Salvation

And thou hast heard my voice

And renewed my weary spirit

All that hath life and breath Praise Ye the Lord

Sing to the Lord Hallelujah

Hallelujah halleluiah

Praise Him, Laud Him Praise Him, Halleluiah!

QUOTE (Botz @ Aug 10 2004, 12:23 PM)

I enjoy all sorts except modern pop and rap etc.

Jazz,Blues,Country,Bluegrass,Classical,Israeli,Indian.

My favourite guitarists are Tommy Emmanuel,Garry Potter,Martin Taylor and Chet Atkins...although Yngwie Malmsteen,Ry Cooder and Steve Vai are also amazing.

I particularly like...Doc Watson and Dave Grisman,Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs,The Soggy Bottom Boys,Dan Crary,Ricky Scaggs and Tony Rice.

Also the old Mississippi Delta Blues and Country Ragtime brings back fond memories boasting such august company as...Rev.Gary Davis,Peg leg Howell and the Cannon Jug Stompers,Blind Willie McTell,Blind Lemon Jefferson,Mississippi John Hurt,Fury Lewis and many more.

I get great inspiration from some Christian music..especially..Yolanda Adams,Phil Driscoll,Shekinah Glory Ministry,Paul Wilbur and many others...traditionally I find the old hymns of Charles Wesley,John Newton,Isaac Watts and others very uplifting.

I find Israeli and Jewish melodies are outstanding and very moving.

I like music that touches my soul and lifts my spirit.

Warlock replied..Out of all of that I've only heard of Steve Vai lol, cos im also a fan

You like any celtic music?

I don't have any Celtic music as such but I do like Irish melodies...the trouble with much of the Celtic music is that it has been hi-jacked by the New-Age movement who then promote it with a primitive earthy type package that I find off-putting...but if you can recommend some good stuff I will have a listen....I really like the bagpipes...but they are best heard over the hills and far away...very evocative..and seeing I went to school in the north of Scotland they bring back youthful memories.

Yes Steve Vai is awesome...my son introduced me to his music. ;)

Hiya

I love Ray Boltz & Michael W Smith, they are really uplifting! In saying that I love most types of music from Classic to pop. Don't like that Eminim(however its spelt) guy though. Some of the lyrics I find sickening. I'm still an eighties girl at heart though & Duran Duran mad!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
