How are we saved?

The Holy Spirit.. God the Spirit.. draws people to Him. In that conviction, an individual can either accept salvation from Him, or reject. On accepting, asking for salvation.. then the Holy Spirit indwells the eternal spirit of a person, sealing them unto the day of redemption.

This is nothing to do with works.. it isn't based on living a good life.. and is unearned, unmerited, unfavoured.. once off act on the part of the Holy Spirit.. God the Spirit. This is the same as entrusting your salvation with Jesus.

This is seperate from daily service.. which is daily seeking after God's will.. after Jesus. One is not dependent on the other.

To be secure in your salvation.. all you need to know is Christ's sacrifice for you.. it has nothing to do with your life-long behaviour to God.

A saved person will have fruit from having the Holy Spirit indwelling them.. but that ain't life-long service.

If someone relies on Jesus.. on the Holy Spirit.. then they can grow in their relationship and build gold and silver to be treasured in heaven. If they don't -- they don't lose the sacrifice and commitment Jesus has to them.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - initial salvation-- permanent.. once off.. can't be undone

1Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: - seeking after Jesus after salvation.. has no bearing on eternal destiny

(Eph 1:13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, - initial salvation

(Eph 1:14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. - security of salvation

1Jn 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

also- 'He who endures to the end will be saved'--- what is the context of this verse?

(Mat 10:21) And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

(Mat 10:22) And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

(Mat 10:23) But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

Jesus isn't talking about receiving eternal life here!

He is talking about deliverance.. rescue from persecution and trials! 'Save' does not always refer to eternal salvation!

(Rev 2:25) But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

(Rev 2:26) And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

(Rev 2:27) And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

The revelation verses aren't about eternal salvation either.. but rewards!

Context.. context.. context..

Yes Jesus wan't us to walk after Him.. but He won't condemn us to hell if we fail! That is not a God of grace and truth.. but more like the Islam God who has next to no grace.

Thanks Man, but I am really hoping the OP will still reply, so that we can refine the true meaning of salvation, and together appreciate the gift of grace and that wonderful sacrifice made on the cross.

He joined in March 05, only has 128 posts. I'm thinking he doesn't come around very often.

Someone tagged the OP as bad......I see nothing wrong with it, other than the verses themselves should have been posted. Other than that, what was said is pretty much true.

Thanks, but I'll wait for the the OP  .

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Amen!

That's pretty much what the OP states.

God gave life to our soul (Romans 8:13) by gifting it with His Spirit (Ezekiel 36:27). When we rebelled against Him and rejected His Spirit our soul lost its life. This brought eternal damnation upon us. However, because of this infinite mercy, God reinstalled His Spirit in us by sacrificing His own life for our sins. This free gift of God to us is His grace. All we have to do to be saved from eternal death is to accept His Spirit. We can accept it by knowing it and then living it (Galatians 5:16). To know it we must believe in Jesus

so you're saying it's just by grace we are saved?

yes. That is exactly what I am saying. We can do nothing to earn our salvation in any way.

not by being kind to those who treat us cruelly? not by keeping the commandments? not by forgiving others? not by loving our enemies? not by keeping our marriage vows sacred? not by being humble? or non-judgemental? or cheritable? or merciful? ...boy, that wore me out just writing all those down! can't imagine having to try do all those to be accepted by God!

think i'll take the grace thing! :)

It is not about God accepting us; rather it is about us accepting Him. When we are unkind, or do not keep the commandment or hate our enemy or break our marriage vows or are proud or are judgemental we reject God.

all of you are right; it is simple. you must be born again. you will know if you are born again if you do the things outlined in the OP. we are told to examine ourselves regularly to be certain of our salvation. this sounds like a good opportunity to do just that :emot-hug:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
