When someone says, "If you do this or if you do that, God will hear you better", I turn around and walk away.

Who is saying that?

I totally get this. Just being still and soaking up (enjoying) the presence of God... I quite like it. It's good to practice doing this too, getting into the presence of God and just sitting. Then when you have hectic crazy days like mine, you can take out 10 seconds or a minute, close your eyes, and go there again.

Amen andy and Nebula!

During worship I often find myself on the floor on my knees. And at home, soaking up the Holy Spirit while listening to worship music or reading my bible happens as well.

I would however like it to be spontaneous, as the Spirit moves me.

Much the same as breaking bread. if I don't feel I am quite right with God at the time, and would just be going through the motions, I don't do it. (this is scriptural)

From the posted link.

Soaking prayer is simply positioning yourself to express your love to God. It is not intercession. It is not coming to God with a list of needs. It is the act of entering into the presence of God to experience His love -- and then allowing the love of God through the Holy Spirit to revolutionize your love for Him.

Something I found on the web.

Prayer in its simplest form in the Bible is calling on the name of the Lord (Genesis 4:26), and in each instance where it is found in Scripture, it is descriptive of communicating with God. Soaking prayer starts that way, but quickly devolves into a trance-like meditative state. This is when soaking prayer ceases to be biblical and becomes more like a New Age practice or something an adherent of Hinduism would participate in.

So I agree, "soaking" though I prefer in private with just me and HIM. Sometimes, during a Regular worship services sometimes I have done the same type of thing, long before it had a name!

I am interested in hearing from people who have experienced this, practiced it, or any views on this, as I have noticed there are different opinions about it.

Do a search on "Soaking Prayer"......"The Purpose of Soaking Prayer"......"Contemplative Prayer"....and "The purpose of Contemplative Prayer".

Soaking Prayer and Contemplative Prayer are similar in how it's practiced. What you will find is that it is not biblical in nature.

:o You are seriously reading into this something that absolutely is not there.

Do you suppose that having a relationship with the Lord is something that is only experienced and expressed through the mind?

What is this person basing his/her statement on?

Since when is being love-struck a "trance"?

.... The Devil is the master copy and paste artist... he tried to challenge Jesus with scripture. I don't get how people can' be more careful in what they approve... and if what they believe IS genuine why can't they explain it coherently?....

Dear Brother

I Couldn't Agree More About That Old Dust Eater

And I Am A Cut And Run Brother When I Find Myself In Some Place The LORD Do Not Put Me

And The Word Is Indeed A Wonder Filled Place To Look Into The Deep Yearning Of God Toward His Children

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. Psalms 42:7-8

And Of His Children Toward God

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. Psalms 42:1

Well Then

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. Psalms 116:7

There Is This

Be still, and know that I am God:

I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10

And This

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God

more than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6

And This

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door,

I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

Some

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalms 23:1-3

Just Soak

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalms 27:13-14

Some Just Drop

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

And the captain of the LORD's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. Joshua 5:13-15

But All God's Children Shout Hallelujah!

Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD. Psalms 135:1

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
