Should it be a structured outline or straight from the hip? I know that we are taught to model our prayers after The Lord's Prayer, but just repeating that prayer would seem unoriginal. Why is it some people can get up there and just pray and pray and pray, and folks like me just stammer and hunt for what to say? I want to get better at public prayer so people won't snicker at me when I pray.
Guest man
If you pray from the heart, who cares what anyone else thinks.

Praying from the heart is the best way, talk to to God just like a friend and a Father.

The only difference is I'm a little more self-conscious and it's harder to wait and be sensitive for what I need to be before opening my mouth. And I may explain what I'm praying about if I'm with people who may not understand something specific I'm putting into the prayer.

If anyone snickers at you while you are saying a prayer - they need to closely examine their hearts and their walk with Jesus. I have had the same problem with public prayer and then one day - I decided to just be myself and to speak from my heart ... it works. God Bless you Shiloh!!! He tried to rebuke Satan but in the heat of the moment, he said Jesus instead!

Usually there allways seems to be a distraction when praying but once started we cannot stop. Blessings
