Christians believing in Evolution?

you know what annoys me probably the most...

i go to a public school and they have to teach us Evolution in year 10 for the school certificate. my science teachers openly against creationism and God. so i didnt know anything about all of this Darwin-being-racist stuff and that not the majority of evolutionists believe in the Big Bang. we were taught that the big bang theory was more of a fact then a theory and that evolution was how we got to where we are today. the worst thing about learning that was that i, as a chirstian, wasnt able to defend the christian beliefs. i just had to sit there and study evolution. (i think i got the worst marks in that subject than ive ever had - i just dont see the point in learning something that i know isnt true)

You know what Jesus- is-my-superhero, I acyually enjoyed sitting in on those lessons, I found that learning about the Big Bang theory and evolution, really strengthened my faith, and made my relationship with God so my stronger, and since that topic in class, I have been so open about my faith, and my heart has been on fire, and I have just wanted to sing glroy to our King

haha, thanks samuel. i like the 'accidentaly' dropping something idea. we've actually gotten him to watch a louie giglio dvd, but he just rejected it and stuff

and stepho - thats really cool that you got something out of it! its fantastic! the problem with me is that i grew up in a VERY scientific family (im still in one) and ive heard it all before. my faith was already test by that so i had nothing more to really improve by it. like, i still have a lot to improve, but not really on the faith Vs evolution thing. that was covered long ago for me

My faith is put to the test everyday coming from a family one hundred and ten percent against religion and christianity. So yeah...

I dont understand your issue with the big bang theory.

the "big bang theory" can go a long way to offering proof that there is a creator. There is no reason for a Christian to run from it.

to paraphrase one of my favorite Christian Apologist "the big bang demands a big banger"

Many secular scientist today are running from the big bang theory because they dont like the questions that come with it.

yeah. no worries. i do actually believe there was a Big Bang. there must have been right? i mean it is God we're talking about here! but they basically say that it was atoms being denser and whatever, and i believe that. but i believe that God is the one who made that happen. i dont know, its just how they teach it thats so against christianity. thats what annoys me.

I dont understand your issue with the big bang theory.

I 100% oppose macro evolution, but I will readily admit that I support the Big bang theory. It does not conflict with scrpture. When I work a homicide and see blood splatter in a room, the logical conclusion I come to is that it splattered from a central point.

Seriously. I believe God actively created the univers and all contained within. What I have always wondered is why many Christians find fault with God using the mechanism of the Big Bang to begin the process.

At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, let me hasten to point out that a "correct" understanding of the sequence and timing of creation is not a requirement for salvation. I think that the point of the Genesis passages is not so much how it happened and in what order, but rather, Who made it happen. If you accept the idea that God created the heavens and the earth, the rest of the Bible makes sense. If you reject that idea, then nothing that follows makes any sense. $0.02
