Back when I was a kid, the peaks of the solar cycle were something we looked forward to. All Ham Radio folks did. That was because the higher solar activity made shortwave radio work better because the signals would travel farther even if you were using a low powered transmitter.

The sun has departed from its 11 yr cycle and a huge number or possibly majority of scientist blame global warming on the phenomenon. They don't have the voice that Al Gore has to be heard; it's the discharge from you lungs ;-D according to Al (C emission). Global warming is true, to a point. It is cyclical it happens in cycles. We are now in a warming cycle. No real evidence to prove we are responsible. All these Carbon emissions, and carbon credits are only there for one reason. To make money off of people. Yes a solar storm did overload a city transformer which caused a major blackout.

Oh your voice is very politically correct. But runs against the beliefs of many of the people on these boards. BTW the "documentary" "the inconvenient truth" had not one true fact in it. Remember this was produced by the man calming to invent the internet. (he was on a committee that appropriated funds for the research on it!)
