oh, hmh, so true!

speaking of commercials, the one that sticks in my mind (still, and i haven't seen it in well over three years), was a guess jeans commercial. it took me a month to figure out they were selling guess jeans! or shorts, as the case may be. it showed a beautiful woman undressing next to a railroad track as a passenger train passed. cut to the people on the train staring out the train window. when the train passes, the woman is no longer in jeans, but in a pair of shorts. with BOOTS!

now what was the point of that commercial???

Let me begin by reminding everyone that Britney Spears is NOT A ROCK STAR. She is a pop singer. She doesn't have the relevancy of a rock star.

Shhhhhh, don't say that too loud. Britney might hear ya! She's already blown her knee out and if she gets wind of this, it will do her in. :oww: :o

They make money because record label owners know how to market to the desires of the general public.

Good hip hop is dead in the mainstream because White CEO's know that they have to market rappers as thug millionaires to sell to white suburbia. Kanye West is a slight improvement. And I have seen the Roots on MTV. But not much other than that. Oh yeah Black Eyed Peas.

Female singers have obviously hit bottom. They don't even write their own songs. CEO's know that they have to market them as sex kittens because adolescent males will be sexually attracted and adolescent females will want to replicate them in order to recieve the same attention from their male peers.

Rock n' Roll is horrible nowadays. Simply horrible. I don't even see the marketing scheme on this, it's just.........horrible.

Psuedo-Bubblegum-punk is the new thing now. I hate it so much. CEO's are just selling brandname-rebellion. "Hey kids, you can rebel, fight the power..... Here, heres a safe outlet for this teen angst." It's pathetic. Real punk died ages ago, they should just let it go and not disgrace it with the likes of Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.

well I'm done with my rant.

oh yeah, LadyC, I find it very curious that you profess an eclectic love for music, yet you have little to no knowledge of Bob Marley. I'm not doubting your taste or anything, but come on, It's Bob Marley.

i know who he is, and my husband likes marley, i've just never paid enough attention to his lyrics to know much about him. i do have diverse taste, but i guess for whatever reasons, marley just doesn't impress me so much. can't explain it.

I love Bob Marley!!! But when you think about it, he really wasn't all that successful. popular, perhaps, but not terribly wealthy. Perhaps that's because he wasn't a worldly man? I'm not sure what his religous belief was, though I'd assume he was rastafarian, . I have heard it said that he came to Christ shortly before he died in '81. Wouldn't surprise me as he quotes the Bible rather often.

The only people who listen to them are christians because they feel that's the only thing they should be listening to. Let me rephrase that. The reason they're not successful in the REAL music industry.

Wrong! They listen to it because they ENJOY their God. They have a personal relationship with Him. They adore Him. They want to be close to Him, and on and on. Our God is a joyful God. One we worship because He loves us and has done so much for us.

What has your god done for you lately?

And as far as real - Jesus said, "I am the truth (reality)."

RASTAFARI!!!!

He was wealthy. He moved from trenchtown (arguably worst jamaican ghetto) To an all white neighborhood in Kingston. He bought a huge house and had all the homies from the old ghetto come and stay with him. This obviously didn't please his white nieghbors, they tried to get him evicted constantly, but he had enough money to keep the authorities away. Until the CIA assasinated him.

He's not the most talented reggae artist by any means. Just probably the most well known to European culture.

Eek-A-Mouse.

New Ethiopians.

Peter Tosh.

Those our some of my favorites.

Actually, many are not as well off as one might think. And....they are not as happy as you might think either.

I dated a guitarist in a band when I lived in Southern California in the late 80's...they had an album out by Enigma Records, pictures in Hit Parader magazine, was playing concerts, played on the radio day and night....yet....he lived in a small apartment with roomates. They guy....had the mentality of a 5 year old. Loved those little army men with the parachutes on them and stuff. No brain whatsoever. They really didn't have much money at all, although society thought they did.

Through that guy I met many others in very well known bands....they too, wern't full of money like one would think. And backstage...all they do is argue who is going to run out and get beer. Their lives are really not that glamourous. The only "wild" moment I've seen backstage was when some band members decided to have a food fight with bananas and other fruit.

As far as Brittany Spears goes...she got famous by starting on the Disney Channel where she had her biggest audience. Parents then thought she was so cute and a good role model. Well, until she reached 18 anyway. LOL. We all know that if there was no such thing as "videos" that Brittany wouldn't be all that popular....

With videos playing such a big part these days in how the music sells, it's definatley become a priority for them to get "noticed". I doubt Brittany is even very happy.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
