Hi all, this is a post I made about a year ago in another forum, I keep it because I think that it could be useful for other Men fighting the demon of porn addiction. Take heart - it can be defeated.

I wanted to write about my experience in overcoming an addiction to porn because it seems to be an area where many, many godly men struggle, and I write this in the hope that it might assist in helping someone overcome this problem.

Also, for those who said to get rid of my computer... I cannot get rid of my computer. I am planning to possibly go to college within the next 2 years or so for computer graphics/web design/animations/3D graphics. So, there is no possible way for me to "get rid of it". That would have probably been done a long time ago if I weren't going to be going to college.

"LCPGUY" - I WILL get throuh this, and I WILL try everything (spiritual wise & action wise) to get through this.

do you really truely want to be free of this???? if so, then some of the suggestions mentioned should not be an issue. get rid of your computer, check into 12 step, talk toyour, or 'a' pastor. two years is a long time to wait forr a 'possibility'. besides, in two years your computer and/or software will be obsolete anyway and will have to or want to have the best available to do your work. so, my question remains, how badly do you want to be free of this???

One more little tid bit of advice....Get a Porn Blocker on your computer...

Hello You All,

Sorry I haven't replied in a while. My grandpa had a heart attack and had to have a quadruple bipass. He is doing better now, but is very weak.

Anyway, I tried again and utterly failed. I cleared my computer out of all porn just to be filled again by more. I deleted them again, and hopefully I won't fill it back up. "LCPGUY", your advice looks good (not to say anyone else's is bad)... I will try that. It does make perfect sense.

"Speechless" - You ask how bad I want to be free of this... EXTREMELY BAD. More than you could ever imagine.

"koppen" - Porn blocker? I didn't know there was something called that. Are there any free ones? I was just thinking... Maybe I can find a few hundred blockers, and use the trial versions until they run out, then go to the next one, and the next one, ect. Of course, I don't know of more than about 5 or 6.

Well, I will try my best to rid myself of this with God's help. Please continue to keep me in your prayers. Well, I should be going. It is really late, and I need to get some 'shuteye'. Thank you all for your advice. God Bless,

Oops! I forgot something... I will also place my Bible on my desk so when the temptation comes, I will see only God's word in front of me. This will also remind me to read it. Thanks again for all your advice. God Bless,

First why not just get off the internet? Seems thats where your problem lies, so get rid of the problem that way....

2 have someone else you know set the Parent Control on your computer if you decide to keep it...have them do it because it requires a password and tell them not to give you the password no matter how much you whine and cry for it....

3, PRAY....and REPENT....we have to not only pray and ask God for forgiveness for sins but repent for them before him also then we receivfe his forgivenss and then learn to forgive ourselves....

Also tell another person....this will bring you more freedom than you will ever know....satan loves secrecy....pornography is from him....he loves to keep it secret cuz then it won't stop and he can keep playing games with you....

Once you confess to another you will find you are freer than ever before ...even if that persons reaction is not the way you would like, you will still feel free....

I dont doubt how badly you want to be free, but to be free, you need to sacrifice, even if it is your computer. I understand that you want to go to school. I am 35 years old, and am back in school again, and wishing i would have finished long ago. and you want to be prepared now for what 'may' come later.

But, imho, 'extremely bad' would mean, at any and all costs. get rid of your computer. and believe, or i should say, KNOW, that God WILL provide what you need when you need it.
