Well, even Jesus' miracles were accused of as being from the Devil - so....

Exactlly,

I have noticed that people including Christians if something does not fit their traditional theology they automatically label it of the Devil. Jesus warned the Pharisees for saying that he did the miracles by the power of the Devil. He told them that they were not speaking against him but they were speaking and blaspheming the Holy Spirit that works the miracles.

We must be careful how we speak against things we do not understand. We maybe speaking against the Holy Spirit which is Blasphemy and that will put you in danger of Hell. Jesus said you can say all kind of evil things about me but if you speak against the Holy Spirit your doomed.

Mar 3:22-30 Some teachers of the Law of Moses came from Jerusalem and said, "This man is under the power of Beelzebub, the ruler of demons! He is even forcing out demons with the help of Beelzebub." (23) Jesus told the people to gather around him. Then he spoke to them in riddles and said: How can Satan force himself out? (24) A nation whose people fight each other won't last very long. (25) And a family that fights won't last long either. (26) So if Satan fights against himself, that will be the end of him. (27) How can anyone break into the house of a strong man and steal his things, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can take everything. (28) I promise you that any of the sinful things you say or do can be forgiven, no matter how terrible those things are. (29) But if you speak against the Holy Spirit, you can never be forgiven. That sin will be held against you forever. (30) Jesus said this because the people were saying that he had an evil spirit in him.

I have learned to keep my trap shout when I see things I simply do not have a biblical answer for. Even if I do have a "biblical" answer I could still be wrong and speak against the Holy Spirit. Just let God be God and don't put him a religious box like the Pharisees were doing.

God bless,

[Doesn't that come full circle back to this -
I didn't know that wide acceptance equaled truth.
:o

Nope.

Not asking about wide acceptance. Just any acceptance.

Tongues can be a language of man, which is of this earth, or a language of angels, which is languages which people do not know.

If we get baptized in The Holy Spirit the proof is in Acts, either we will pray in different tongues, and/or prophecy.

No offense intended but that is an entire different discussion regarding tongues or prophecy being the initial evidence of the Baptism (indwelling/infilling) of the Holy Spirit. This discussion of Steve's thread is regarding whether or not the sign gifts are still active today. As I have shared with Steve, I believe they are...all of the gifts are active because PERFECTION has not yet come. On the other hand, I do NOT believe that any one gift means more than another nor that one is the initial evidence. All the GIFTS come from ONE SPIRIT! The HOLY SPIRIT is manifested in many ways and not just tongues and prophecy. Regardless, that is completely different topic.

Sorry Steve if I went off topic for a post.

Be Blessed,

Wayne

No need to apologize, you just addressed another of my concerns.

And at last, I agree! :cheesy:

Why all the fuss about "tongues", better, languages in the Bible? ALL biblical "tongues", better, languages, are KNOWN, UNDERSTOOD, EARTHLY & NATIONAL DIALECTS....and never once "unknown tongues." In fact, as we already must know, the very word "unknown" does not appear in the original Greek in 1 Corinthians. Very interesting indeed.

Nowhere are we told to wait, wait, wait and pray, pray, pray today in order to receive an infusion of an "unknown" tongue as "initial evidence of Holy Spirit baptism." Nowhere. This "unknown tongues" and "initial evidence" are matters pertaining solely to the denominational distinctives of the Pentecostal folk. The very term employed over & over again by our Pentecostal friends, ie, "slain the Spirit," appears NOWHERE in Holy Writ. Nowhere.

Even our most noble, most outstanding & most holy Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ never once "spoke in tongues" save an UNDERSTOOD, KNOWN, EARTHLY dialect such as Aramaic, Hebrew, etc. And, of course, the world's greatest evangelist (next to the Apostle Paul in my estimation, Billy Graham) never once "spoke in tongues", yet he has led more people to saving faith in Christ than perhaps any other man - outside of the Apostle Paul - that has ever lived! All WITHOUT "tongues" or "initial evidence". Amazing. And not without tremendous significance re the issue under consideration.

Thank You, Lord Jesus!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
