Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

I like the verses before & after as well- draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, and purify your hearts. And humble yourself before Him, and he will lift you up.

v9 is at all times, though? I've been mourning & weeping much of the past three months due to some pain, and have been praying a lot, but was curious. Thanks.

My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? Psalms 42:3

At Times

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. Psalms 6:6

I Too Weep

Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. Psalms 38:9

And Drop By Drop

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:22-23

The Tears Are Tallied By Abba Daddy

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? Psalms 56:8

Yet The Tears Still Flow

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26

As We Weep

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalms 126:5-6

But

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalms 30:5)

!

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

God Is Good

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. Psalms 42:1

Verse 9 I believe is a rebuke, if You look at the beginning of this chapter it shows that this was members of the church disputing and causing many fights, and falling in the world.

James 4:1-4

1 What is causing all the quarrels and fights among you? Isn't it your desires battling inside you? 2 You desire things and don't have them. You kill, and you are jealous, and you still can't get them. So you fight and quarrel. The reason you don't have is that you don't pray! 3 Or you pray and don't receive, because you pray with the wrong motive, that of wanting to indulge your own desires. 4 You unfaithful wives! Don't you know that loving the world is hating God? Whoever chooses to be the world's friend makes himself God's enemy!

Verse 9 is a conclusion to this lifestyle. We are called to be in Spirit, those in the world are called to repentance. We cannot be in the world and in Jesus. He calls us to be Holy as He is Holy, These people where not letting go the things of the world, This letter makes it clear that a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

James 4:8-9

8 Come close to God, and he will come close to you. Clean your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded people! 9 Wail, mourn, sob! Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into gloom!

I have learned in Christ, We share in His cup of suffering, and His cup of joy, but let all things be for His glory.

You always got to keep in mind who is being addressed in any message and the context of that address. This thread contains an excellent analysis of that principal of study. The Epistles are divinely letters, not sweeping statements in the vein of the Old Testament.

Well just because you pray and ask god to heal you it dosent mean that he will heal you... Because do you accually belive that god will heal you? You have to belive with your heart that he will heal you. So keep praying and keep asking for gods grace,it will come.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
