Dave,

I am not here to argue this point. God has made it clear; you have the Word, argue with Him, not me. It is not I you have a disagreement with. My post was to give a fair warning that this thread is being watch very close...if it begins to turn into a "Catholic is the one true church" digression that has been so common as of late ? I will lock the thread. If it begins to teach that the Bible is not the only Word of God ? I will lock the thread. If Jesus is no longer the focus ? I will lock the thread. I stand firm in my convictions on this.

God preserved His Word, He promised He would ( Isaiah 40:8 - The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." ). I trust Him at His Word....I simply do not see an argument here, other than an attack of the enemy to divide & cause confusion. God does not author confusion ( 1 Corinthians 14:33 - For God is not a God of disorder but of peace )....that being said, why trust anything that brings confusion to something simple ?

Again, I've said more than I planned to....just be careful of what is said....and take heed -

Proverbs 30:5-6

5 "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

God bless,

Bob

Ok for one, you will never get me to Say the Catholic Church is the one True Church, teh closest you will get to that from me is that there is not one Denomination that has everything Correct, But thats another thread.

The Bible is the the FOUNDATION we build the house of our faith upon. Without the foundation the house will crumble. Jesus is our Blue Print, Carpenter, Mason, Painter, landscaper, etc.

At no points does my Bible say God stopped inpiring authors after 100AD. Can other writings contradict the bible and still be inspired? Nope.. Can they go along with the Bible and help us to grow? Yes Sir..

God Bless,

Dave

I agree with all that Called and Bob have said. I think maybe there was a misinterpretation going on perhaps on my point in the previous thread. My point is that books are well and good but they are second rate to the Bible. Let's face it, most christian authors use the scripture as guidlines for instructions in their books anyway. It all goes back to the scripture. Here are some things that we get from scripture:

It reveals our sin (Rom. 7: 7-13)

It points to Jesus and gives life (1Peter 1:21-25)

It's trustworthy (Prov. 30:5)

It shows us how to give a godly life and give us guidance (Psalm 119: 11, 19)

It makes us holy and pure (John 17:13-17)

It's living and active today (Hebrews 4:12)

It has eternal truths (Mark 13:31)

It gives us wisdom (2 Tim. 3: 16-17; Psalm 119:97-104)

It directs our steps (Psalm 119:105)

If the Bible does all this and so much more then why do we need anything else?

May I interject an opinion?

I have no knowledge of the earlier thread that this subject spun off from so my comments apply ONLY to what I have read here. I see what Dave is trying to discuss and it can be a very fruitful discussion. Open your hearts and listen to what he is asking.

There are MANY resources other than the Word of God that are good reads and useful for study. Some examples include the earliest writings of the Apostolic Fathers to include the Didache, The Epistle of Barnabas as so on. Christian Book Distributors have a wide range of choices and some excellent books.

The Gospels and the Epistles give first hand testimony of Christ from those who knew him. I think it's ridiculous to believe that the Holy Spirit stopped inspiring folks after Pentecost or that early church leaders stopped writing Epistles after the last apostle died. The chruch didn't come to a screatching halt in 80 AD.

Ah, but this is where you must be very very cautious...and exactly why Bob is very concerned with this thread.

Only those books and letters that made it in to canon should be considered God's WORD. God provided for us the HOLY Bible through the canonization of those books and letters that HE wanted....as His Holy Spirit revealed to man.

Everything else must be tested and measured against God's WORD. If it doesn't match up with God's WORD, then it is a lie...plain and simple.

For me, it is like a courtroom. The Judge has the power to throw out those testimonies that are not 100% accurate and reliable. It doesn't mean that there isn't some truth to them but if there happens to be one fallacy, it must be tossed out and not considered.

The HOLY BIBLE is 100% TRUTH. All the other writings are those letters and books that can give insight to the early church but for whatever reason (and the Judge is the only one who knows for sure), they are not to be considered 100% reliable.

Be Blessed,

Wayne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
