I want to see any of the new crop of legislators that blend into the 'spend, spend, spend' agenda to follow their predecessors out the door in 2012. The fact of the matter remains that in order to cu debt and spending hard choices will have to be made and they start with this supposed right that everyone should have Health Care Coverage. The major portion of spending in the U.S. are entitlements. The Health Care bill being one that consumes 1/3 of the U.S. Economies wealth generation. We haven't even begun to see any of the new laws by fiat on climate change which will reduce the U.S. economy by stabbing wealth generation in the heart. That simply will not happen unless the powers that be are prepared to bring the entire US government crashing down.....

But....a Constitutional amendment would have to be ratified by (I believe) two thirds of the fifty states; the President has no say in that. It could take years. Did you ever notice that there's always a reason not to propose drastic measures and changes and not to do something? Just like Sam's post above. However, we all know that something has to be done otherwise we will be left with no Nation that any of us recognizes. What should we do about spending and the debt level then? You'll also note that Obama and the thugs that ran Congress last year surely didn't balk at making drastic changes. They forced them down our throats and then swung a huge gavel around Capital Hill taunting the American people as they chanted, "No!"

You'll get no argument from me about the fact that Congress has run amok in the past couple of years. My point is that a Constitutional amendment has to be ratified by the states....it can't just be introduced and passed like a bill. A requirement for a balanced federal budget is a good idea...and no, the President does not have the power to stop an amendment if ratified. Countries going bankrupt for policies they implemented. The talk about the US budget to be reduced has been a priority of everyone but it only grows. The line is the same such as we spend now more to save later or it was the mess of the previous administration. How many expensive diners did they have to come up with those lines. Hope the new ones keep the word. Jesus how wonderful are you words of truth, Blessings
