I believe laying down your life for others falls into defending the helpless one. I'm still unsure about self-defense. I know in OT the Lord was a God of War & many people were slain on his orders. That said we are called to have faith & love one another including our enemies. Our conscience shall lead us in these situations as our heart convicts.

Without the Spirit of God we cannot understand the scriptures, and without a spiritual understanding the evil in the world will overwelm us.

The natural man judges things by GOOD & EVIL. If it is good then God is behind it. If evil it must be satan. The scripture says that God chastises us and it isn't pleasant. but it is for our good. Alot of the big time TV ministries have a lot of money - GOOD? I don't think so. I think Satan keeps them in the dark.
