H5315

נפשׁ

nephesh

neh'-fesh

From H5314; properly a breathing creature, that is, animal or (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental): - any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead (-ly), desire, X [dis-] contented, X fish, ghost, + greedy, he, heart (-y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortality, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thy-) self, them (your) -selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it.

A living creation.

Is it so hard to believe.

in His Love

Now look up G5590 to see how it is used in Revelation. God did create us as a living soul, which is how the word is used in that text, but when we see the word soul in Revelation, it is used in a different manner.

This thread is speaking of what happens to the soul after death, not how it was created.

we are gods creation so one of the ways i look at the issue about the brain spirit soul connection goes something like this-

god knew beforehand how he wanted to make each individual person and the brain is like the canvas that god used to paint the spirit and soul onto if that makes sense.

ok since im on my whole little "trying to understand atheist" tonight... a question i have been asked before and was un able to answer and even after wards i wondered myself.... if our soul is who we are then that would mean it is in some sort our mind well when we die our brain stays here so the question is how can the soul go on if the mind stays here? with out a brain we have no way to think so how would our soul be when we are no longer?..................

I believe we are our minds (it would not be so complicated otherwise). In other words, I am strongly convinced that

our sense of self, love, compassion, intelligence, hate, sorrow, happiness, etc. is an emergent property of our neurons

interconnections and dynamics. When that dies, all of it will simply vanish into nothingness.

Well there is no doubt you are an nonbeliever, that's for sure, so I'll keep my post simple.

You say (I assume) that there is no God, no Heaven or Hell and as for me, I believe that Jesus is my Lord an Savior and he will guide me to eternity in Heaven. Now if you were correct, what did I lose? IF I'm correct (which I am), what do you have to lose?

If you were right, I will lose nothing, but if I'm right, you will lose a lot more, you will lose eternity.

Now for the topic, I believe our bodies are vehicles to transport us while we spend this short time on earth. I wanted a body of a Porsche, but unfortunately I was given an body of an old rusted Ford pick-up truck. Being the brain is part of the body and as some say "is where the soul/spirit is located". When I die, I believe my soul/spirit will leave this body of an old Ford pick-up truck, it don't matter if the soul is in the brain or my big toe, I'm going to be leaving this world for a better place, that is my goal, with God's grace and the help of our lord Jesus Christ, I'm going to get there.

Amen Beloved!

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

For Death Is No Haven

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:28-29

For Mankind

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

The Book

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deuteronomy 30:19

What if the Muslims are right? Or the Hindus? Or the supporters of the other thousands+ Gods of our history?

You will lose everything, too.

If you think in a utilitarian way, then I propose you check for the religion with the hottest Hell and bet on that.

What do all other religions worship? They worship a dead God, in their own accord they worship something that has a grave with a body or remains of a body in it. We Christians worship a living God, there is no grave with a body in it. Our God is not made out of Gold or any other fine metals or anything else for that matter.

Our God is all about LOVE, as a father here on earth loves his children, God our Father in Heaven loves us, we are his children. Does he give us tough love at times, oh yeah, it is our nature as humans that we think we know what is best for ourselves, when really God knows what is best for us and sometimes we have growing pains in our walk as Christians, to find out God is right.

I'm not here to argue with you, I don't have to because I'm not looking for answers, your the one looking for answers or you wouldn't be posting on a Christian Board. If you are posting here just to get an argument, then you won't get no answers. If you are truly seeking truth with an open mind, then there are people here that can help you.

If you allow your heart to be opened and be filled with the Holy Spirit, it will be a joyful day in Heaven as the Angels sing praises. If you decide not to have your heart opened up, then I wish you well on your journey through life and in the end enjoy your "nothing".

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
