GRACE - It's more than a word, can the Bible define it?

I'm sorry that I am so over-sensative,

I have suspicions of your sincerely, please forgive me.

. . . I have read many of the early church writings.

Good. Then you should have no problem understanding my reference to their length and context.

Was Noah perfect?  Well, maybe you can explain his drunkedness in Gen (6 I believe).

Perhaps your problem is not with me, but rather the scriptures.

  • Gen 5:8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Perhaps you can show me were someone besides Ham who condemned Noah in the Bible . . . I haven't found it anywhere . . .

So you want scriptural definition of grace?  Better start at Genesis and finish with Revelation.  Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, Caanan, Mary Magdelene, Peter, Paul, .....since after 4 pages no one is able to give you the definition you are looking for, how's about you go on and enlighten us poor casual christians. :)

How about reading Sister Tsth's (Suzanne) posts she been doing an excellent job.

By the way, I never called you a "poor casual christian."  If that is you contribution to this thread, your still coming short of what was requested. So far you judge me to be a "perfect pharisee," called Noah a drunk, referred to yourself as a "poor casual christian," and completely ignored Tsth's three outstanding scripturally supported posts by saying "after 4 pages no one is able to give you the definition you are looking for."

I really am beginning to believe you have no intentions of reasoning the scriptures concerning grace. Why are you here then ? What do you hope to accomplish on this thread for the glory of God and the edification of others?

Seriously, you have me bewildered. :???:

Psm 19:The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Yes, the law converted the soul but the GRACE perfects the spirit.  The law could never do that.

Oh, so you separated the soul and spirit.

So do you feel the soul can be converted in an person without grace?

Have you any scriptures you wish to share with those comments?

Have you noticed my signature verse?  Can you explain what it means? Why would the psalmist ask that the law be granted unto his graciously?

Gen 5:8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

But, did Noah never sin?  Of course not, we know that Jesus is the only one who never sinned, so how can he be perfect?  The way I understand it, in grace we are the righteousness of God, our sin is forgotten, washed, cast into the sea.  So, was Noah sinlessly perfect or was he perfected in God's eyes by His grace?

Do I think the soul and spirit are seperate, yes.  1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now many the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I understand the soul to be something you're born with and your spirit something that is brought to life when you are saved.  I think our spirit is much different than our soul.

I will say that while I search the scriptures daily, I have only been saved for one year and there is plenty I don't understand.

I do understand that grace is the only way I have out of this world and the only thing to free me from my flesh.  Of course, I had to accept it first.

My purpose here is to learn what I don't know and teach what I do know.  Having said that, if you have something you want to contribute, please do so!

Colossians 1:9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Col. 2:1 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Col 3:10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

In His Love,

Suzanne

                            HONEY

Proverbs 24:13 My son, eat thou honey , because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Psalm 81:16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

Isaiah 7:15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

Ezekiel 16:12  And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. 13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. 14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.

Revelation 10:8-11 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter  11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

    bitter = embitter

Have we become embittered toward the Commandments?

For a study in symbolism of honey and the oath of the people, see:

1 Samuel 14:24-35

26 And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

In His Truth,

Suzanne

I think the humble man, is the man who is willing to recognize that wisdom comes from God alone, and that he must admit that he knows not, but if he seeks in humility and asks from God to know the ways to go, the Father will give the child what is good for him.  Matthew 7:7-12

Deut. 8:2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

2 Chron 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Psalm 10:17 Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear,

Psalm 69:32 The humble shall see this and be glad; And you who seek God, your hearts shall live.

Daniel 10:12 Then he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

Dear Rosanne,

The man who will cry out to the Lord, is the man who will humble himself before God.

Psalm 107   Job 36:13

The man who will heed the Truth of the Word and obey, is humble and submissive towards the Lord our God.

Psalm 25

1 A Psalm of David. To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. 2 O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. 3 Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. 4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. 6 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O Lord.

8 Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way . 9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. 10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. 11 For Your name's sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. 12 Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He+ chooses. 13 He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth. 14 The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. 16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted. 17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses! 18 Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins. 19 Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. 20 Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You. 21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You. 22 Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles!

In His Love,

Suzanne

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
