I think I have something to say about this one.

When I was only 19 years old I caught a terrible illness, and I very nearly died from it... I was not a christian yet, and I was DYING of this illness.. it was a severe case that is not normally seen, the doctors were not entirely prepared for it but they went to heroic efforts to save my life.. even though I would be permanently scarred and debilitated, they tried thier best to see that I was given the best chance possible, and went through endless efforts to see to it that I still had a life that was worth living.

I was not miraculously cured.. it took a LOT of medicine and surgeries, done by DOCTORS, and a very long time. God may have played a role, but if He did, He used the doctors to carry it out..

I lived through all this and just recently became a christian.. I now know when I die I can go to heaven, but if I had died back then.. I would not have gone to heaven. I was not saved.. I was given a second chance, doctors and medicine were a major part of it...

People read too much into my questions? The questions are ment to try to get us to think. It was associated with scripture. alicia's testimony is undeniable proof that God works in ways we cannot comprehend. Does that change the fact that we run to doctors instead of earnestly seeking God's face and wha He is trying to tell us by the things we endure. Even Job underwent his trial for a purpose. Don't you think so?

This is absolutely untrue! I'm sorry, brother, but the more I read of your posts in this thread the more I'm beginning to question the title of "pastor" in your signature.

First of all, the fact that a Christian visits a doctor to treat an ailment is no indication whatsoever of his being difficient in his trust in God. I wonder what Christian doctors would think of such an accusation.

Secondly, your statement that doctors cannot heal or cure me of anything is simply ridiculous. Talk to a successfull heart surgeon sometime and ask him about all the blue babies he's healed with his two hands and surgical instruments. Repairing a hole in the heart of an infant is called healing, brother. And what about cures anyway? Well, how about the cures for smallpox, polio, rabies, and various poison antidotes? That's just a few medical cures, by the way. There are hundreds of them, ranging from cures for small infections to major diseases.

Going to a doctor is pretty much common sense!

Nothing anywhere that I know of says you cant seek God and still go see a doctor..

If you have some kind of accident and your gushing blood and dying.. you can still pray and seek God.. but it also might be wise to call an ambulance!

God may or may not heal you, who knows.. but it also might be His will for the ambulance to save you.

Not doing anything at all is like grabbing the tallest lightning rod in a severe thunderstorm on purpose and saying 'God will protect me!'

And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.

The same thing is still going on today. People are spending all that they have on the doctors. You do know that they are not in the healing business. If everyone got healed that went to the doctors, their business would fail. Whatever happened to this scripture?

Tell that to the smallpox bug...he got eradicated...remember?

There is no reason on earth to avoid going to a doctor if you're sick. It doesn't demonstrate a lack of faith at all. The Lord helps those that help themselves and if you've exhausted all efforts to get well on your own and you're still sick and getting sicker, I think it's just silly to wait til you've got one foot in the grave before you decide it's time to go to the doctor.

I take herbs and vitamins and I try to eat right. I do everything I can to try to nourish and take care of myself, but even doing all that, there are times I have to go to the doctor.

My mother was a diabetic and had to give herself insulin shots everyday, plus high blood pressure and other complications that accompany diabetes. She never would have survived as long as she did without the medications that were prescribed for her and she was a saint. A wonderful Christian child of God. Her life was prolonged by taking these medications, until the Lord saw fit to take her home.

If a doctor prescribes medications to people that truly need them, whatever the reason may be, it is not a sin. It is not sorcery and it is not wrong.

God made doctors as far as I'm concerned.

I have been a Juvile Diabetic for 27 years if was not for God giving the Scientist the knowledge to treat this disease I would be dead now...I would have died as a child...Where do you think doctors get their knowledge from?????

I know that God has His reasons for not healing me... Maybe I don['t have enough faith maybe I have failed Him in some way or just maybe the is a purpose! I will know when I get to heaven!But I do know one thing HE has sustained my life and given me chance to raise my children and love my husband... His will may not be for me to be sick but it certainly has made me a VERY STRONG person!...I praise the Lord every day for allowing me to breat and for the insulin pump I have that help keep me going...God is wonderful!
