The itsy bitsy spider went up the gas tank vent. Down came the gas, and up the pressure went. I lived closer than anyone to the building, so if the alarm went off - I had to meet the police answering the alarm. It was bitterly cold and my pager (told you it was years ago) went off at 11 p.m. - alarm on the first floor. I met the police there and they waited while, I unlocked the building and disarmed this LOUD alarm. They went all through the building - nothing... an hour later - announced an all-clear. At 1:30 AM - pager went off.... I got up - by this time it was sleeting... and met the officers... same drill. One officer told me that if they had to come out again for a false alarm - we would be cited and receive a fine from the city. I had no idea what to do or why this thing kept going off - it was a motion sensor and the alarm company told me it was motion in MY office... I disarmed the system... and went to my office (on the first floor) and just sat there.. I did not want to get a fine for the company and could not leave the building 'unprotected'..... so I just put my head on my desk - when I woke the next morning - I waited until other employees arrived and went home to get ready for the day - my boss told me to take off - so I did. The alarm company went through the entire system and found a tiny little spider building a web in the plastic lens of the motion sensor in my office.
