When too much attention is given to knowledge as a source of growth, ego can cloud the picture with irrelevant issues. The real 'knowledge' that comes from God alone depends upon trust and faith in the benevolent leadership of the Holy Spirit (our teacher) who leads us into all truth. How can one know they have discovered an appropriate balance between study and living? Look to your testimony and its effect on others...particulary the one you may despise. The revelation of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophesy. When this spirit (gift) visits a life ... one knows where the next step must be placed because that is where Jesus leaves his footprint.

Yes, JESUS leaves HIS footprints ....for us to follow HIM.

Your Question : How can one know they have discovered an appropriate

balance study and living?

This is my answer:

I always take time out to study the word each day.

Going to church each Sunday, to hear the word of GOD , Preached.

also ,prayer daily, and worship the LORD.

The balance for me means, being a doer of the word, and not a

hearer only.

I am not conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing

of my mind...... ROMANS 12:2

If there is no change in a persons ways and the way they live

then there is no GOD, in their life.

LOVE and PEACE to everyone....

All of us are disciples...and as such we need to be obedient to the revelation that G-d has shown of Himself to each of us as individuals...and learn to walk in that on a daily basis..proving ourselves faithful. As Cajun rightly points out...being doers and not just hearers...and therefore deceiving ourselves.

I believe it is something the Holy Ghost strirs up in each of us the whole time...to give G-d 100% to keep on keeping on...to be faithful and believing...and not fearful and doubting...and each of us is being led daily by the Spirit according to the grace of G-d at work in our lives...and each of us have our own personal hurdles to overcome and goals to achieve so that G-d might truely be glorified in and through us. We all mature differently into the calling upon our lives.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Hello Born2BFree.

The real 'knowledge' that comes from God alone depends upon trust and faith in the benevolent leadership of the Holy Spirit (our teacher) who leads us into all truth.

That is wrong and a serious error.

It is a directing away from true faith and a leading to a misapplication of your trust. We are not told to trust the Holy Spirit but Christ our redeemer. The sacrifice is where we stand and nowhere else. Trusting Jesus is faith. Trusting the Holy Spirit, of course, it's not faith though. Faith is trusting Jesus.

...knowledge as a source of growth...

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18.

How can one know they have discovered an appropriate

balance study and living?

How can you say that a balance of knowledge and living needs to be achieved. It makes no sense. How should we do it by taking our eyes off Jesus or by stuffing our heads with knowledge for the Holy Spirit to use.

Mary knew that being by His feet is always better.

If there is no change in a persons ways and the way they live then there is no GOD, in their life.

I think it more prudent to judge myself and leave God to His own business. It was sixteen years before my life showed a change. He bought me into the Kingdom and then let me run loose for a while. I had things to learn.

It's all to do with knowledge but a correct knowledge because a correct knowledge leads to Godliness. Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness-- Gal 5:6.

Study more I say, study till there is no more room for anything else in your brain. To know Him is to love our neighbour. All our actions reflect our knowledge of Him.

...one knows where the next step must be placed because that is where Jesus leaves his footprint.

Then they have fallen behind, they need to catch up. I walk by His side as a brother not as a servant. That's how we can know we have the correct balance. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Gal 5:6.

If you love the Christ you will obey. He will naturally show Himself through you if you know Him.

The more the better.

Hi anyone!

John 14:21 - {He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me}: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

I Keep the commandments not to work my way towards Salvation or to obtain it, I keep the commandments to the best of my ability out of Love for Him AND that He saved a wretched sinner like me. Such will bring one closer to God and He Himself will love that person and reveal Himself and manifest Himself to that person in such ways that are Soooo Wonderful!!!!!!

God Bless! :il:

I am sorry to so disagree with you to the point of being ill. How has the Holy Spirit taken such a small place in your theology? Why is trusting the Holy Spirit less than Jesus important to you? How does that work for you? Biblically it has no foundation. Jesus depended on both the Father and the Holy Spirit. The fact that the Holy Spirits job description is to point toward Jesus does not lessen the posistion of the Holy Spirit. He is an equal in the God-head. No one can point to a verse and say differently. He is not a "lesser god."

Why would Jesus leave us with the Holy Spirit if He is not as able as Jesus? Would that not be showing favoritism to the generation that walked with Jesus? This is beyond belief in its magnitude of heresy. (Don't worry brother, you are still a Christian, but you got some splainin to do with the Holy Spirit.)

Hello Scudbuddy.

I don't mind you disagreeing.

Why is trusting the Holy Spirit less than Jesus important to you?

Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." John 6:28-29.

That is the reason. Putting your faith in the Holy Spirit is a wrong application of faith.

He works as an agent of Jesus and the Father in the process of salvation and for everthing else. He is God.

I read nowhere in the scriptures that we should approach Him in anyway but to trust that Jesus will direct Him after we pray to the Father or Jesus.

That John passage is not only for salvation but for everything we do as Christians.

Jesus is repeatedly saying trust me and ask me and I do not see the Holy Spirit having this task of answering prayer directed at Him.

Why would Jesus leave us with the Holy Spirit if He is not as able as Jesus?

I did not say He was not able, of course He is able, but that He has not designated that position to Himself. There is an order in the Godhead and we should use the scriptural line of command. Ask the Father or Jesus and they will send the Holy Spirit to make it so.

Show me a place in the bible where the Holy Spirit is prayed to or becomes the one we should put our faith in.

This is beyond belief in its magnitude of heresy.

Maybe you misunderstood me.

Would that not be showing favoritism to the generation that walked with Jesus?

I don't understand this.

I don't worry Scudbuddy and thank you for your concern. I believe Jesus died for my sin so even if I get everything else wrong I am still saved. This is why it is important not to let your trust go elsewhere. We are told to put our trust in Jesus and no one else.

Thanks for the post. I hope that brings me back into the realm of orthodoxy.

This is what The Bible uniterpreted says about following The Holy Spirit.

Rom 8:1-17

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

(KJV)

We need to trust all three persons of the Godhead. To trust them all to do what they are supposed to do. Among other things Jesus said He would send us the Holy Spirit, and that He, Jesus, would return. He did the first and will do the second.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
